"Nan Chang was the capital city for around two hundred years.

"In the final days of the Xuan Dynasty, it fell when the imperial guard army's general, Quan Long, rebelled.

"He then went on to become the first Emperor of the Quan Dynasty.

"The last emperor of the Xuan Dynasty, Li Yong, was caught blindsided by the rebellion as he had trusted Quan Long."

Hun Yen Kun briefed Lin Fan on what he knew about the Xuan Dynasty and Nan Chang.

Just as he spoke, a patrol from the imperial guard walked past them.

They seemed nervous as they kept turning their heads and looking around.

Lin Fan squinted his eyes and said, "I think this secret realm might have something to do with the last days of Nan Chang."

"What should we do now though?" Ho Ming asked.

Lin Fan looked toward the inner city in the distance and said, "Maybe we can try our luck in the palace."

Ho Ming and Hun Yen Kun nodded, and they walked toward the inner city.

Along the way, Lin Fan memorized the layout just in case they needed to flee from the city.

They also tried not to interact too much with the people around them.

Lin Fan wasn't sure if they were actual humans, ghosts, or creatures generated by the secret realm.

Better to be safe than sorry.

More troops started to run toward the palace when they got nearer to the inner-city walls.

Ho Ming had to pull Xiao Tao out of their way several times.

An explosion could be heard from the direction of the palace.

Pillars of smoke started to rise from the inner city.

It had started, Lin Fan thought.

"We better hurry. Let's see what is happening to the emperor," Lin Fan said.

They started to leap toward the palace, and Ho Ming carried Xiao Tao on his back.

When they got to the inner-city gate, soldiers were fighting among themselves.

One party had a piece of white cloth tied to their arms, presumably to identify themselves from those loyal to the emperor.

"Kill the emperor for a better future!"

"For our children and young!"

"You shall be rewarded if we succeed!"

They shouted slogans to boost their morale as the soldiers loyal to the emperor retreated.

Lin Fan, Ho Ming, and Hun Yen Kun followed behind the rebels to enter the inner city.

After getting through the gate, it was chaos all over.

Rebel soldiers were looting the palace.

Palace maids and eunuchs suffered an unspeakable fate.

Ho Ming had to quickly cover Xiao Tao's eyes to prevent her from looking at the atrocities that were going on.

"There," Lin Fan pointed to a building that the rebels were streaming toward.

They started to run toward the building.

Lin Fan reckoned it to be the building for the imperial court.

"Stop! Who are you!" A rebel soldier shouted at Lin Fan when he saw them approaching the imperial court.

"They must be dogs of the emperor!"

"Kill them!"

A team of rebel soldiers turned and started to charge toward them.

Lin Fan took out his spear and readied himself.

A familiar sound erupted in his mind.

[Terminate rebel soldiers with malevolent intent for 200 vengeance points.]

Lin Fan was glad about the system's notification.

It meant to him that they were defeatable.

With his Dragon's Roar Spear, Lin Fan used the Dragon's Roar Thousand Thrust at the soldiers.

Splatter.

They were no match, and the slicing wave from Lin Fan cut through the rebel soldiers into pieces.

The other rebel soldiers saw what Lin Fan did, hesitated, and stopped in their tracks.

Lin Fan, Ho Ming, and Hun Yen Kun then continued their journey toward the imperial court.

When they reached the front of the imperial court, two men were in a standoff.

One man was in his general's armor and the other in the emperor's robe.

They were presumably Quan Long and Li Yong having their last battle.

After a few moments of staring at each other, Quan Long lunged at Li Yong.

Whoosh.

Quan Long's sword was fast and gave out a loud sound when it broke through the air.

Surprisingly, Li Yong turned his body and dodged the sword coming at him.

He then hit Quan Long on his chest with a palm strike.

Splatter.

Quan Long coughed out blood as he tumbled across the ground.

Rebel soldiers quickly helped Quan Long up.

Some of the rebel soldiers lunged at Li Yong but were decapitated by him with Li Yong's sword.

"How did Quan Long kill Li Yong in history?" Lin Fan turned and asked Hun Yen Kun.

"Li Yong was easily captured and hanged by Quan Long as he was a weak emperor indulging his days with women," Hun Yen Kun said.

Lin Fan frowned as he heard Hun Yen Kun.

What was happening in front of them deviated from history.

This Li Yong was somehow powerful, and Quan Long was in danger of being killed by Li Yong.

By now, Li Yong was done with the rebel soldiers trying to kill him.

He flicked his sword and walked toward Quan Long.

Lin Fan knew he had to do something.

He had a hunch that if history didn't play out as it did now, they wouldn't be able to leave this secret realm.

"Let me help you," Lin Fan shouted and lunged at Li Yong.

He thrust his spear at him with the Dragon's Roar Thrust.

Li Yong turned and looked at who was intruding.

Dang!

Li Yong used his sword and parried the slicing wave coming at him.

The slicing wave dissipated, and Li Yong's sword wobbled from the impact.

"Well, well. What do we have here? Another one," Li Yong smirked and turned his attention to Lin Fan.

Lin Fan leaped into the air and thrust his spear with the Dragon's Roar Thousand Thrust at Li Yong.

Boom.

The ground exploded as the slicing waves hit the ground.

Li Yong had leaped away and dodged the slicing waves.

The next thing Lin Fan saw was Li Yong thrusting his sword at him, and a twirling wind came at him.
