Chapter 238: Golden Glow
Splash.
Jets of water shot out all over the boat.
Some beasts jumped out of the water and landed on the boat.
These beasts had pale white skin, limbs with fins, and a head that looked like a monkey.
The Water Monkeys lunged at the fishermen.
The last thing the fishermen saw was the big, bloodied mouths of the Water Monkeys coming at them.
Splatter.
Blood spurted all over the deck of the boat.
Soon, everything died down.
And the only sounds that could be heard were the munching sounds of the Water Monkeys.
...
"Here we are, the rocky caves," Xiao Tao said as the boat got near.
The rocky caves were part of a huge rock in the middle of the sea.
Several small caves and a huge cave could be seen.
"Let's try and see what's inside the huge cave," Lin Fan said.
If the rumor of the golden shrine was true, only the huge cave could contain such a phenomenon.
Xiao Tao did as instructed, and she steered the boat towards the huge cave.
The boat started to rock more violently as they got near the huge cave.
Currents near the opening of the caves were tumultuous, and they had to hold on to the edge of the boat to steady themselves.
"Ah!"
Xiao Tao nearly fell into the sea when the boat violently tilted upwards from the front.
Luckily, Lin Fan was fast enough, and he reached out his hand in time to grab her.
"Thanks," Xiao Tao said as she steadied herself.
Ho Ming and Hun Yen Kun were now pale from the seasickness.
But the currents were now calm as the boat entered the huge cave.
It was dark and quiet.
Silence.
Lin Fan could even hear the breathing sounds of the others.

The boat slowly went further into the cave.
"No secret realm in sight. That's for sure," Hun Yen Kun said as he looked around for anything unusual.
Ho Ming unsteadily stood up and tried to get a better view.
But it was too dark for them to see far ahead.
Lin Fan decided to use the amulet and turned into an Ember Moose.
The antlers glowed as flames emerged, giving out a faint glow in the dark cave.
They could see that mountains of bones lay at the side of the cave.
And they stretched all the way into the cave.
"What are these..." Xiao Tao was scared as it was nothing she had seen before.
Ho Ming went over and patted her on her back, trying to console her.
Lin Fan turned back into human form and said, "Better to be on high alert."
He wasn't sure whether the bones were of beasts or humans in the darkness.
But one thing was for sure, there was a predator here in the cave.
Splash.
He heard a loud splash again.
This time he took out his spear, held it tightly in his hands, and peered over the side of the boat to check.
Hun Yen Kun flicked his fan and turned it into a sword.
Ho Ming pulled Xiao Tao behind him and drew out his sword.
A familiar sound erupted in Lin Fan's mind.
[Ding!]
[Detected 20 souls with malevolent intent incoming!]
[Terminate Water Monkeys with malevolent intent for 2000 vengeance points.]
The next moment, Lin Fan saw the face of a monkey with a huge mouth, coming at him.
He thrust his spear down at the Water Monkey.
The spear caught the Water Monkey and penetrated through its mouth.
It struggled violently, trying to break free and splashing around.
Lin Fan made use of the side of the boat, using it as a lever to haul the Water Monkey up onto the boat.
Plop.
The Water Monkey tried to get up, but Lin Fan plunged the spear further into it.
Soon, the Water Monkey stopped moving.
"There are more of them," Lin Fan warned the rest.
Splash.
The next moment, the boat started rocking violently.
"Hold on!" Lin Fan shouted as he tried to figure out a way out.
Ho Ming and Hun Yen Kun thrust their swords with the Twirling Wind Strike into the water.
But the twirling wind couldn't get far as the water broke its momentum.
The boat was in danger of overturning at any moment.
Lin Fan had no choice but to swap out the demonic beast core of the Ember Moose for the Lightning Horns Crocodile.
After he was done, he quickly leaped into the water.
Splash.
The first thing Lin Fan felt was the chill from the cold water.
He could see that the Water Monkeys were trying to rock the boat to make it overturn.
When they saw him, they stopped what they were doing, turned, and swam towards him.
One of the Water Monkeys got close and tried to bite his neck with its huge gaping mouth.
Lin Fan tried to dodge, but his movement was slow under water.
He used the amulet and turned into the Lightning Horn Crocodile.
Thud.
A blue glow struck the Water Monkey and blew it into smithereens.
Using the Lightning Horn Crocodile's strong tail, Lin Fan swam towards the other Water Monkey.
In an instant, he got near and snapped the head off another Water Monkey.
Seeing how powerful the Lightning Horn Crocodile was, the Water Monkeys tried to swim away.
Lin Fan gave chase but was only able to kill off two more of the Water Monkeys.
A familiar sound then erupted in his mind.
[Ding! Congratulations on terminating malevolent intent.]
[Vengeance points + 500.]
[Current Vengeance Points: 3000]
With the Water Monkeys gone, he turned back into human form and got out of the water.
Ho Ming was relieved when he saw Lin Fan coming back onboard safe and sound.
"We should be safe for now," Lin Fan said as he tried to wring the cold water from his robe.
Maybe Sima Liang has some artifacts to dry clean and keep warm, Lin Fan thought.
He should ask the next time he visits him.
"Look!" Xiao Tao's voice broke his thoughts as she pointed ahead into the cave.
Lin Fan looked up and saw a golden glow slowly appear in the distance.
