Chapter 237: Water Monkey
Xiao Tao's father, old Meng, was waiting for them at the port.
His right hand was in bandages, and he walked with a limp due to the injuries he sustained on his knees.
"Father! We had a sumptuous breakfast, and I've brought some of it for you. Here."
Xiao Tao ran over and passed the breakfast from the inn to her father.
Old Meng opened one of the wooden containers and saw what was inside.
Buns, dumplings, meat and noodles.
It was a feast compared to what he was used to.
Old Meng quickly came up to Lin Fan, Ho Ming and Hun Yen Kun.
He clasped his hands and bowed to them.
"Thank you so much for your generosity.
"I'm old Meng. I wanted to bring you around on the boat myself, but Xiao Tao wouldn't let me.
"She's still worried about my injuries, so she will have to go in my place.
"But rest assured that she knows the seas around this region. She has helped me out since she was young," Old Meng said.
Lin Fan nodded and said, "We understand, but we will pay according to her performance."
"Don't worry. I will do my best. Come aboard," Xiao Tao said as she hopped onto the boat that was nearby.
It was a small boat, around five meters long, and could only fit the four of them.
Xiao Tao set the sail up quickly, and they started to move out of the port.
...
Hun Yen Kun stood at the front of the boat with his fan in his hand.
He looked up into the blue sky and said, "The tide calls out, the wind is high,
"Men take their boats where sea meets sky.
"With oars in hand and hearts so bold,
"Chasing silver fish and tales untold."
Blah.
When he finished reciting his poem, Ho Ming went to the side of the boat and vomited.
Hun Yen Kun looked at Ho Ming, shrugged and asked, "It can't be that bad, right?"
Lin Fan rolled his eyes and said, "He's just seasick, I guess. But both can be true at the same time."
"We are near the rocky caves; they're just ahead," Xiao Tao interjected into their banter and pointed ahead.
Walking over to the front of the boat, Lin Fan squinted his eyes and tried to look at the rocky caves.
But it was still some distance away, and all he could see were some rocks.
Barely visible to the naked eye.
All around them, there were some other fishing boats putting down their nets.
Few were headed in the same direction as they were.
Splash.

Suddenly, Lin Fan heard a loud splashing sound to his right, and he turned around to check.
He saw nothing but the calm blue sea.
Thinking that it might have been some fish, he turned and focused back on the rocky caves.
Knock.
This time he heard something knocking on the boat's hull.
"Ho Ming, check on the other side," Lin Fan said.
He went to the side of the boat and peered into the dark blue water.
Nothing.
"Lin Fan, look!" Ho Ming shouted, and Lin Fan quickly ran over to his side.
He was just in time to see a white shimmer swimming away from their boat.
"The Water Monkey?" Xiao Tao shook her head in disbelief.
It couldn't be true.
She was lost for words as she saw the white shimmer getting further away.
Lin Fan, however, wasn't convinced.
He quickly took out his Dragon's Roar Spear and thrust at it.
Boom.
The slicing wave caused the water to explode into a huge fountain when it hit.
After a moment, the water turned back into the calm seas again.
Slowly, a trail of crimson red appeared.
Lin Fan had got the Water Monkey.
Ho Ming wanted to jump into the water to pursue it, but Lin Fan pulled him back onto the boat.
"It's not our battle ground," Lin Fan said.
He didn't want to risk going into the water.
Lin Fan already had a hunch who was behind this.
They weren't as proficient in the water as the fishermen.
There would be payback when they got back to the village.
...
"Argh. Help me!" A man surfaced from the water and shouted for help.
Long moustache came over to the side of the boat and asked, "Did you scare them off?"
"Yeah. I did. I'm bleeding to death; get me up onto the boat!" The man's face was pale white as he tried to stay afloat.
Other men quickly came forward and pulled the man up.
They were shocked when they saw the man's back split open.
"What should we do now?"
They panicked and asked long moustache.
Long moustache frowned and said, "Bandage him and stop the bleeding first."
He'd only wanted to scare Lin Fan and the rest with someone pretending to be the Water Monkey.
He hadn't expected those scholarly-looking cultivators to be so strong.
But there was no way back for him now.
Splash.
Long moustache heard a loud splashing sound by the side of the boat.
The other men also heard it and stopped what they were doing.
"You hear that?" one of them said.
Everyone nodded.
Knock.
Knock.
Knock.
The next moment, they heard knocking sounds.
Long moustache gulped a mouthful of saliva and went over to the side of the boat to check.
He bent down and peered into the dark blue water.
"You see anything? Don't be pulling a prank on us. If not, I swear to God," one of the men asked as long moustache was in the same position for some time.
He slowly walked over and bent down to look at what long moustache was doing.
Drip.
All he saw was long moustache's head gone and his blood dripping into the sea.
Before he could cry out, something came out from the sea and lunged at him.
Splatter.
His consciousness went away as his head suffered the same fate as long moustache's.
This got the other men worried as they saw them motionless by the side of the boat.
They decided to check on them and walked towards them together.
Boom.
