Chapter 455: Power level
Lein stood in the middle of a vast plaza, letting his gaze wander in all directions. The sky above stretched out in a crystal-clear blue, seemingly endless, bathing the entire area in a soft light that exuded a sense of peace.
Around him, people moved about, appearing human in every way, yet possessing an indescribable perfection. Their faces were symmetrical, with sharp and deep eyes, well-defined noses, and flawless skin. Their movements were graceful, as if every step had been meticulously planned. The long robes they wore swept the ground, adding to their elegance and dignity.
Lein observed further. At the edges of the plaza, massive pillars towered, encircling the area with grandeur. These pillars reached so high that they seemed to touch the sky. At their peaks, carvings of winged figures glowed softly, radiating a sacred light that brought a sense of serenity. The aura around the pillars was so pure that the air itself felt lighter.
Were these pillars merely decorative, or did they serve another purpose? Lein wondered. His instincts told him that these structures were more than just ornaments. There was something within them… something alive.
Behind him, a massive portal stood tall in the center of the plaza, pulsing with a faint, rhythmic energy. Lein watched as people emerged from within, then continued on their way without hesitation. They seemed like native inhabitants of the Dominion, likely using this portal as a travel route between realms.
But something made Lein frown.
Most of them were only at Tier-3, with a few barely reaching the Master level.
Shouldn't a realm that was part of a Dominion have more high-ranking rulers? Lein set aside his confusion for the moment and turned to face Aleron, Taureil, and the others.
"Wow… this place is beautiful," Laras whispered in awe. Her eyes sparkled as she took in the entire plaza, as if wanting to absorb every detail into her memory.
"I almost thought this was heaven," added Efan, his expression equally mesmerized.
It wasn't just the two of them—Lein's crew members and Aleron and Taureil's disciples also fell silent for a moment, captivated by the breathtaking scenery.
One of the disciples whispered to his friend, "The energy here is incredibly rich. I feel like I could enhance my cultivation just by meditating."
"If only our Guandu Realm could become part of the Dominion…" his friend replied with a hopeful tone.
Lein overheard their conversation and simply shook his head slightly. These two disciples were still at the Master level, yet their ambitions were already so high. It wasn't a bad thing—if anything, ambition like that was exactly what they needed to progress.
Aleron and Taureil walked up to Lein.
"What do you think, Lord Lein?" Taureil asked casually. From the way he spoke, it was clear he had visited this place before.
Lein smiled slightly and nodded. "Much better than EON Gateway. The atmosphere is more beautiful, and… the people here look more human." He was still adjusting to the stark differences in races. This was a new experience for him, and he knew he would need to become more accustomed to such variations in the future.
However, something was bothering him. "But why is their power level so low? The highest I've seen is only at the Master stage." Lein voiced his curiosity directly.
Your journey continues on My Virtual Library Empire
Taureil furrowed his brows, as if Lein had just asked something absurd. "What do you mean, Lord Lein?" He looked at Lein with a neutral expression before explaining. "Having civilians at the Master level in random locations is incredibly rare. Have you forgotten that we are in Sanctus Lux? The population here is billions of times larger than that of your Divine Sky Realm."
Lein fell silent, beginning to realize his mistake.
"A cultivator at the King level isn't someone you can just come across easily, especially not in a small city within a realm," Taureil continued. "Besides, it would be wise to conceal your own power level to avoid drawing unwanted attention."
Lein formed his mouth into an 'O' shape upon hearing the explanation. He let out a small laugh, feeling a little foolish for not considering that before. "Ahaha… my bad, I guess I forgot."
Suddenly, Aleron, who had been quiet until now, spoke up. With a teasing tone, he looked at Taureil with a playful smirk. "Why say it like that, Taureil? Isn't it possible for all the inhabitants of Lord Lein's Divine Sky Realm to reach the Master stage? Nothing is impossible for him."
Then, he shifted his gaze to Lein, as if seeking confirmation. "Isn't that right, Lord Lein?"
Lein simply rolled his eyes, unwilling to entertain such flattery. He sighed and changed the topic. "Alright… What are your plans next, Lady Taureil?"
He knew he wouldn't be with them the entire time. His meeting with Veron was something he could handle on his own. Besides, he didn't want Aleron and Taureil constantly watching over him—there were too many secrets he had to keep.
"Hmm… We'll look for the nearest lodging if available, then decide whether we need to move elsewhere," Taureil answered casually. From her tone, it was clear she had her own plans and wanted to explore Sanctus Lux further.
"I'm the same. I'll use this time in the Dominion Nova Consortium as an opportunity. I hope to meet a Tier-7 King who can help me deal with the cosmic disaster," Aleron said with a serious expression. His eyes narrowed slightly, showing the concern he had been trying to suppress. Given the looming crisis his Guandu Realm faced, his breath felt a little heavier.
"Alright, then it's settled. I also need to explore and learn more about Sanctus Lux. We'll meet again in three months. If anything urgent comes up before then, send me a message," Lein said casually, as if this parting was only temporary.
Taureil and Aleron nodded in agreement, then turned toward the outskirts of the plaza to find transportation.
Lein also prepared to leave. His gaze shifted to Laras and Efan, who were still waiting for him. "Alright, let's find the nearest inn and take a look around," he said enthusiastically.
"Yosh!" Efan raised his fist excitedly. His eyes sparkled with anticipation, like a young adventurer eager to hunt for treasure and fortune.
Without further delay, Lein led Laras, Efan, and the crew through the bustling plaza. The Seraphin race, with their radiant wings, moved gracefully around them, some conversing in a language unfamiliar to Lein. The city's atmosphere was vibrant, filled with towering buildings that combined elegant architecture with mystical technology.
After a few minutes of walking, they arrived at a two-story building with a wooden carriage sign hanging above its entrance. It was a caravan rental station.
Without hesitation, Lein stepped inside first, leaving Laras and Efan outside. As he crossed the threshold, the scent of aged wood and a faint spice aroma filled the air. The interior resembled a small tavern—several tables were occupied by people eating and chatting casually, creating a relaxed atmosphere that contrasted with the bustling city outside.
