[FATE] OP Demon King Across Multiverse!

Chapter 23: Chapter 22: Twelve Trials—A Bugged-Level Noble Phantasm

During the short break, Ryuu opened the system shop, eager to check what he could exchange now that he had accumulated 3,700 Demon King Points.

There were plenty of tempting options, but Ryuu shook his head.

Forget all this, it's better to go straight for a Kaleidoscope Sharingan.

With Susanoo unlocked, it's a two-for-one deal—way better than just a basic three-tomoe version.

His eyes scanned through the list.

The Emperor's Eye from Kuroko no Basket—an ability that allowed the user to predict an opponent's every move, similar to his already sharpened Haki.

Otto's Eye, which granted absolute authority over demons, practically redundant when he already had Geass.

None of the available ocular abilities satisfied him. The truly overpowered ones—the ones that could break the game—were all priced at 5,000+ Demon King Points.

Screw it.

If he couldn't get a new eye ability, he'd at least get some tools to stay alive.

Ryuu switched tabs to the Items section.

The last Elixir he used had already saved his life once. Phoenix's Tears, one-time high-tier spell scrolls, a magic-enhanced bow—there were plenty of options that caught his eye.

After some thought, he dropped 1,000 points on Phoenix's Tears—a life-saving trump card.

Next, he moved to the Weapons section. After countless battles, his weapon Wrath had started showing visible cracks.

Looks like you can't keep up anymore.

Wrath wasn't a true Deadly Sin, merely a replica modeled after the original Seven Deadly Sins. If he wanted to keep fighting at this level, he needed an upgrade.

That's when his gaze landed on "Rebellion", a weapon from Devil May Cry.

A massive two-handed blade, its notched, jagged edges were designed for brutal strikes. The dormant weapon could only be awakened through Dante's blood in the original game, but the system had modified it—

Ryuu only needed to infuse his own magic power to awaken its true form.

After purchasing the sword, he only had 700 points left. Just as he was about to close the shop, something unexpected caught his eye.

Ryuu hesitated.

For a moment, he wavered, but then—he bought it.

Just as he finished, Mash and Ritsuka had recovered from their rest. Noticing his momentary distraction, they walked up to him.

"Mr. Ryuu, is something wrong?"

Ryuu snapped back to reality, shaking off his thoughts.

"Ah, no, nothing. Mash, you're feeling better?"

"Yes! I'm battle-ready, and I can activate my Noble Phantasm without issue!"

Ryuu gave her an approving nod.

"Good. Then let's move out."

With that, they regrouped and started heading toward Ryūdōji Temple—the corrupted Greater Grail.

But suddenly—

RUMBLE.

The ground shook violently. The deafening sound of buildings collapsing echoed through the air.

Ritsuka stumbled, falling to the ground as the tremors grew stronger. The sound of thundering footsteps approached.

"W-What's happening?!"

"I don't know for sure, but I have a pretty good guess."

There was only one Servant capable of this level of destruction—

Hercules.

At that moment, Cú Chulainn and Olga Marie arrived from the rooftop, drawn in by the tremors.

Ryuu quickly pulled Ritsuka to her feet.

"It's Berserker. We need to get out of here—NOW."

"H-Hey, didn't you say that if we didn't provoke him, he wouldn't come after us?!"

"That was the assumption! But something changed!"

Not wasting a second, Ryuu grabbed Ritsuka under his arm, turned, and leapt straight through the window of the five-story building.

CRASH!

The others reacted immediately, following his lead.

Mash carried Olga, while Cú Chulainn teleported with his Spirit Form, landing safely beside them.

The moment they touched the ground, Ritsuka turned to see Hercules in the distance—tearing through buildings like paper.

Her hands trembled.

"Th-That's a monster…!"

"Not a monster," Ryuu corrected. "That's a Heroic Spirit—the legendary Hercules."

"The Hercules?! From Greek mythology?!"

Mash and Olga's faces went pale, but Ritsuka—who clearly didn't know the full weight of that name—looked confused.

Mash leaned closer to her and quickly explained who Hercules was.

Olga Marie, still shaken, took a step toward Ryuu.

"We should run. Before he sees us."

"Run?"

Ryuu chuckled.

"Oh please—he's just a rampaging Berserker. I don't run from that."

"But our current strength isn't enough to take him on!"

"Relax. Caster and I already killed him three times before you even got here."

A stunned silence followed.

"…Wait, what?" Olga finally spoke, disbelief on her face.

"You've already fought him?"

"Yeah. Three kills down, nine to go."

The tension eased slightly, but then Ritsuka processed his words and blurted out:

"Killed… three times? Wait—he comes back?!"

"Yeah. Thanks to his Noble Phantasm."

Ryuu's golden eyes glinted as he revealed it:

"Twelve Labors."

"T-Twelve Labors?"

"It's the embodiment of Hercules' legendary twelve impossible trials."

Cú Chulainn added, "His God Hand makes him a living fortress—nullifying all attacks ranked B or lower, and automatically reviving him after death."

A heavy silence followed.

For the first time, Ritsuka and Mash truly understood how absurdly broken Hercules was.

"But that's not all," Ryuu continued. "He gets twelve revivals. You have to kill him twelve times or he won't stay dead."

"Th-This is impossible…!"

"Relax. Seven of his lives were taken by Saber at the start. Caster and I took three more.

He only has two left."

"Only two left?!" Ritsuka's voice cracked. "You say that like it's easy!"

"Well, easier than twelve."

Olga wasn't convinced.

"Mash is still inexperienced. How do you expect her to fight a Servant of this caliber?"

Ryuu's golden eyes narrowed.

"How do you know she can't—if she doesn't try?"

Olga hesitated.

"You keep shielding them. But if you never let them fight, how will they grow stronger?"

Mash suddenly stepped forward.

"Director… I want to fight. I believe Senpai feels the same way."

Ritsuka clenched her fists and stepped beside her.

"Let's do it, Mash!"

With firm resolve, she activated her Command Spell—its crimson light shining brightly.

Olga sighed. Turning away, she muttered:

"…Fine. But don't die."

Mash turned to Ryuu, her expression determined.

"Mr. Ryuu—I'm ready!"

Ryuu grinned.

"Then… let's begin!"
