Chapter 190: Chapter 191: A Walking Trove of Treasures

Zhou Zeming just sneered at Lin Yun's words.

"What kind of joke is that? Look at this place. Does it look dangerous to you at all?" he said, his face full of disdain. "You don't really think we're all fools, do you?" he added loudly.

No matter how you looked at it, the place seemed perfectly normal. Besides, with their own formidable strength, if there truly was any danger, they would have been the first to discover it. How could a young man like Lin Yun possibly sense it before them?

Gu Xiande also looked at Lin Yun with curiosity. "Is there really some danger?"

He, too, was skeptical. The place looked completely normal and didn't seem to have any connection to danger. But he also felt that Lin Yun probably wouldn't lie to them about such a thing.

"You don't have to believe me, but if something happens later, it will have nothing to do with me," Lin Yun said, not bothering to explain further upon seeing the doubt in Gu Xiande's eyes. If these people couldn't sense it, that was their problem. He had given his warning; whether they heeded it or not was their choice.

Seeing Lin Yun's completely serious expression, even Gu Xiande began to have some doubts.

But Zhou Zeming stepped forward, stating with conviction, "Sect Master Gu, we must hurry. You should know what kind of dangers this Sishui Heavenly Palace holds. Time is money. Every second we waste here could become a problem for us."

Gu Xiande frowned. To be honest, he was also disinclined to believe it. After all, this was a danger that not even Ouyang Chun had detected. What made a mere Sky-Soaring Realm youth qualified to sense it?

"Forget it. Time is short. Have everyone continue forward," Gu Xiande finally decided. Just as Zhou Zeming had said, they had no time to waste on such matters. Pressing on was surely the right move.

Lin Yun sneered internally but said nothing more, only taking a few impassive steps back. If you want to die, go right ahead. I have no intention of being your scapegoat.

The group continued to advance. As they did, they found that the fog around them was growing thicker and thicker, until they could barely see what was ahead.

Lin Yun silently activated his killing intent domain. It was the only technique he could rely on in the Sishui Heavenly Palace. He gripped his Coldflame Sword tightly, his eyes piercing the mist.

Gu Xiande happened to be walking beside him. He paused for a moment when he saw the Coldflame Sword, then smiled. He hadn't expected such a young man to possess such a treasure. It seemed they had all underestimated this youth's capabilities.

Lin Yun, of course, noticed Gu Xiande's ill-intentioned gaze. Hmph, don't tell me this old man has taken a liking to my sword? If you didn't have so many people from the Flowing Cloud Sect with you, I'd kill you today. The enmity between them was not so easily resolved, and Lin Yun didn't dare to act rashly here.

Just as everyone was naively believing there was no danger, the situation suddenly changed.

Black, withered vines shot out from the mist. No one had detected the change. They only heard a disciple at the front let out a blood-curdling scream. By the time anyone realized what had happened, the disciple had been reduced to a dried-up corpse, his body covered in more than a dozen small holes. It looked as if all the blood had been sucked directly out of him.

Gu Xiande's face turned ugly. "Elder Zhou, what is the meaning of this?"

Zhou Zeming was stunned and hurriedly explained, "That disciple must have had sticky fingers! He must have tried to take something from this place, and that's why this happened!"

Seeing how flustered he was, Gu Xiande knew he had misjudged Lin Yun.

"I told you long ago, this place is not as easy to deal with as you think. I don't know where you all get your confidence from," Lin Yun chimed in. "Did you really think you were on vacation?"

He knew something like this would happen, but it was also what he had hoped to see. At the very least, he didn't want to clash with Gu Xiande before he obtained the Wuyang Jade. It was best if these people listened to his arrangements.

Gu Xiande knew he had been wrong. For the sake of the bigger picture, he forced a smile. "Lin Yun, this was my mistake. Do you know what these things are?"

Lin Yun looked at the withered vines on the ground and was momentarily speechless. Damn it… If I knew, I would have told you already, wouldn't I? Would it have been worth all this trouble?

"The trials of the Sishui Heavenly Palace are many. I don't know everything either," he said. "In any case, the best choice right now is to leave this godforsaken place as quickly as possible, unless you all want to die."

He looked around. "It would be best if everyone formed a defensive formation. That way, we can deal with these sudden troubles without issue."

Lin Yun's suggestion was correct. If they formed up, they could avoid being ambushed. But just as he finished speaking, miserable screams echoed from all around.

At this, Gu Xiande's face grew even darker.

Lin Yun shouted, "We have no choice! If you want these people to live, we have to brute-force our way through!" After saying this, he looked up. Without hesitating, he charged upwards.

Gu Xiande glanced at Ouyang Chun, who nodded.

"Everyone, protect yourselves as best you can! Keep moving forward!"

Amidst the screams, the group spent an unknown amount of time pushing ahead. Lin Yun was also attacked by the withered vines during the process. But for some reason, the moment the vines got close to him, they would recoil.

Could it be because of my Mystic Heaven Silkworm Armor? It was a real possibility. No matter how powerful these vines were, they likely couldn't break through such a treasure.

With this layer of protection, Lin Yun felt much more at ease. At first, he charged at the very front, but after a while, he began to feign exhaustion.

Ouyang Chun and Gu Xiande saw all of this. With that kind of poor stamina, this boy couldn't possibly pose any threat within the Sishui Heavenly Palace. And to think they had been worried that Lin Yun was secretly plotting something. It seemed they had truly over-complicated their view of this young man.

Zhou Zeming, however, didn't miss the chance to mock him. "You can't even handle this short a distance? Lin Yun, you're so feeble. How are you supposed to lead us out of here later?"

Lin Yun didn't forget to retort. "If you don't want there to be no one left to tell you what to do later, you'd best stop talking nonsense to me."

Seeing his sharp gaze, Zhou Zeming just snorted. "Don't you worry. The moment you make a single mistake, I will definitely take your life."
