Chapter 71: 068. The Cowardly Traitor.
*BAM!
A powerful punch knocked Reizel away. Even though he was already in his reptilian mutant form, even with his physique that had been strengthened many times, he still could not withstand the blow from Herman, his own father.
An old man with a black substance covering his entire body except for his face. It looked like a garment that gave additional strength, but it was alive and writhing.
Herman grinned. "Why are you being such a hypocrite? You must know yourself that weak people need strength to defend themselves."
Reizel wiped the blood flowing out of his mouth, the shape of his face was still like a human face, except that both eyes had reptilian eyes and there were some hard scales on his cheeks.
"And you sacrificed your own daughter just for that, are you crazy?!" said Reizel who looked angrily at Herman.
"You should already know that nothing is free in this world. The power to protect many people is not cheap," Herman replied casually.
"But still, it's wrong!"
Herman's face immediately frowned. "What do you know about right and wrong? Living in an unfair world and crawling at the bottom while the rich and powerful enjoy their lives without a care for those at the bottom."
"But still -"
"And what do you do with all those ideologies of yours?" Herman walked up to Reizel. "You didn't do anything, you just resigned yourself to the situation. Do you know why?"
Reizel was silent.
"Because you're weak. You realized you were weak and decided to stay silent. You were afraid of making the wrong move in the midst of the chaos, so you chose to remain silent."
Reizel was speechless. He wanted to reply with something but nothing could come out of his mouth.
"When the things going gets tough, you choose to run, not to plan your next move, but to run away from trouble. You run away from the people who share the same fate as you, your family -"
"Shut up! You're not my family -"
A punch was thrown at Reizel's face but the reptilian mutant managed to block it.
"I don't recognize you as my father!" said Reizel.
"So, you chose people who have superpowers like you? Are their actions different from those of the people in this village? Answer me, Reizel!" shouted Herman who managed to make Reizel hesitate for a moment.
Reizel averted his eyes as he imagined what Johan and the other system users were doing. They made powerless humans their slaves.
*BHUK!
A hard punch hit Reizel in the face and made the man lie kissing the wooden floor.
"That's right, I forgot that you're a coward, you even sold them for your own interests. You came back to become the new village chief with Johan and his men as collateral," Herman said.
Reizel's head was dizzy, he tried to get up but his vision was swaying and his body was no longer able to fight his own father.
"You want to be the village chief while you yourself don't understand how heavy the burden is to be the village chief and protect the territory. You betrayed me, you betrayed Johan. Is there anyone else you wouldn't betray?!" said Herman who raised his tone of voice.
Reizel could only imagine the face of one person when he heard his father's question. That was Putri.
Herman saw Reizel's poor condition and immediately lost his interest in continuing to fight. "Go away, I don't need you in -"
Both of Herman's ankles were suddenly gripped firmly by Reizel's reptilian hands.
"What are you doing, boy?" asked Herman who looked very disturbed and almost annoyed him.
Reizel dug his reptilian claws into Herman's ankles and instantly tore Herman's Achilles muscle.
The old man lost his balance and his body fell forward. Reizel got up and head-butted Herman's face with such force that he managed to give Herman a nosebleed.
Herman collapsed on the floor to see Reizel who slowly got up and lunged at him. Reizel raised his clenched left hand as if he was ready to punch Herman in the face.
Herman crossed his arms in front of him quickly.
*Jrash!
A deep stab managed to make Herman bleed. It was Reizel's right hand claw that pierced through the black substance in the old man's stomach.
Blood dripped out and Reizel smiled faintly.
*BHAM!
Herman slammed into Reizel's face so hard that it sent the wavy-haired man flying.
Reizel landed on the wooden floor and almost broke the wooden floor.
"You... You coward!" shouted Herman, who was now very angry. "You attacked underhandedly! I knew it, once a coward, always a coward!"
Reizel laughed. "Yes, you're right. I am a coward." He suddenly imagined Aril's face mid-sentence. "Someone taught me that beating a stronger person is a possibility if you don't mind a cheating move."
Herman tried to stand up but his legs couldn't move the way he wanted and his stomach kept bleeding. "REIZEL!!!"
Reizel stood up despite some difficulty. "I will win! And you have to pay for what you did to Lana!"
The big goat monster, which had been watching silently, now began to move. Reizel became worried and Herman looked overjoyed. The big monster moved easily as if it had no weight at all. Normally, such a large creature would have instantly damaged the wooden floor, but it moved as if it violated the laws of physics.
Herman burst out laughing. "Hahaha! That's right! Kallomba king, help me! Give me strength and -"
The giant monster that was the kalomba king instead moved towards Reizel. The kalomba king instead lay right behind the reptilian mutant man.
Herman was dumbfounded, he was silent for a few moments as he still couldn't process what had just happened.
On the other hand, Reizel was so nervous and became very alert. His body was trembling slightly from fear but he knew that he couldn't retreat now. If he had to fight that monster too, then he would fight it.
The kalomba king stared into Reizel's eyes as if staring straight into his soul. For some inexplicable reason, Reizel felt that the kalomba king didn't intend to fight him, quite the opposite. The monster seemed to want to help him.
But why?
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" The maniacal laughter surprised Reizel.
He found Herman who was laughing like a madman.
"HAHAHAHAHAHA! THAT'S WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE! HAHAHAHAHAHA!" Herman seemed to lose his sanity and immediately pointed at Reizel. "FROM NOW ON, YOU'RE THE ONE WHO WILL INHERIT THIS CURSE!!!"
