FALLEN FROM HEAVEN, FUELED BY FURY

Chapter 5: The academy's admission

Three days later, Lucien was seen pacing up and down his room, unconsciously chewing his nails which turned bright red, and occasionally sighing to release the breath he had been holding in. It was finally the day for the transformation process, and Old Hal was seen drawing different shapes and sizes of runes in an empty section of the building's lower floor.

His movement was fluid with precision that made the symbols look to be materializing from the floor. After the runes were complete, he made some hand gestures which caused a slight ripple on the invincible shield surrounding the house, sealing the space within the building.

"All done", he sighed, taking a sip from an old jar by the side building, which seem to replenish his exhausted energy making one wonder the content of the jar.

"It's time", Old whispered, causing Lucien to nearly fall from the seat he was sitting on, as if the message was directly delivered into his mind.

"You looked nervous, why? you want to chicken out? Old Hal asked, as he turned his back to Lucien, preventing him from spotting the devilish smile dancing on his face.

"Let's get this over with", Lucien declared, ready to take off his clothing.

"You don't have to strip naked, Old Hal smiled, just lie at the center of the runes, and everything will be done within a few days, choking Lucien on his breath.

"Few days? Wait, are you implying I'll be subjected to your vaunted excruciating pains for an extended period? If death is your goal, then just do it already. Why do I get the feeling you're retaliating for the rulers' assault on your realm?" Lucien's stare bore into Old Hal, unwavering and piercing.

"Oh, we can decide to stop all these, and I believe people in the demon realm will be happy to lay hands on an angel to experiment on to find more information on your kind, smiled Old Hal devilishly causing Lucien to jump into the runes without thinking twice.

Old Hal laughed seeing his reaction, and continued to drop beast cores of unknown ranks into the runes, causing them to lit up, producing a suffocating mist which engulfed Lucien.

"Arggggggh, immediately after, an agonizing scream could be heard in the building, luckily, the invincible shield seem to be doing it job fine, preventing the scream from being heard outside.

Days passed into weeks, making Lucien drown in a whole world of excruciating pains, having no idea when he will be freed from it.

Unbeknownst to Lucien who kept twitching like a patient in seizure, and Old Hal who kept supplying beast core to the runes as a source of fuel, as massive event was taking place in the city.

It was finally time for the academy's yearly admission of the awakens, thus individuals who had successfully formed an initial connection with the realm's core into the academy.

Individuals from all other cities and smaller towns made their way to the capital, majority of them were the awakened going for their registration, others too just tagged along, wanting to benefit from the varieties of items that will be displayed for sale due to the influx of people from other cities and towns.

The rich came in their fancy carriages, others that are less privileged hired one, while the poor used the foots. Not wanting to miss the yearly admission, they didn't mind walking miles to the capital, luckily the admitting process lasts for a month due to the large number of people involved.

"Hey move, shouted an bulky looking in tattered clothing carrying a heavy looking load which seem to weigh tons on him despite his physic, as he dumped into a little girl who seem to have left the side of her mom while focusing on what looked like an iced cream.

The little girl tripped over upon the impact causing a fracture in her leg. The mom upon seeing the state of her daughter angrily dash towards the man, but what could she do?, she was just a normal woman while the person in front of her was an awakened.

"Apologize", she demanded, causing the bulky man to laugh scornfully, disregarding her plight all together.

"And if I don't what can a mere human like you do to me, he said with contempt, causing a stir from the commoners in the crowd gathered.

Some awakened in the crowd sided with the man, demanding the commoners treat them with respect for they will have the power to protect their world should it be under an attack.

These further enraged the commoners who were ready to put everything on the line in order to make the arrogant awakens regret their words, a fight they're pretty much bond to lose.

But before things could escalate further, a voice filled with commanding authority was heard behind the crowd, making those in front of the voice make way to reveal the owner of the voice.

"It this how we are going to treat our brothers just because they couldn't form a connection to the realm's core and we did, awakened or not, we will need to be united in other to have a chance against the inhabitants of the demon realm should they decide to take control over our world, he scolded the bulky man, while giving a stern look to the other awakens who decided to degrade the commoners, making them flinch.

This is Lord Obrien, a stage four cultivator (Synchronization stage), and the leader of the Two Sword Hunt guild which is rumored to have a stage five cultivator (Resonance Amplification stage) as the unknown founder.

He himself is a respected and feared man for his unparalleled battle prowess which has allowed him to hold his leadership position for a long time despite the many challenges in the guild for his position.

Behind him is his only daughter, Hazel, a beautiful young lady with a shoulder length blonde hair with an emotionless expression which seem to add some form of charm to her beauty.

They were on their way to the academy, but decided to take a stop to browse through the rows of weaponry shops by the street for any weapon of interest, but never thought they will stumble upon a conflict between commoners and awakens.

"You, why don't you apologize to this young lady and her daughter to let beckons be beckons, he said, patting the bulky man on the shoulder, which seem to add more weights to the one already on his head.

The awakens in the crowd seem to disapprove of his decision, but a stern look at them made them squirreled away.

After everything, the commoners thanked him for he standing up for them, and carried on with their business.

"Take this", he said stretching out a bottle of healing potion to the young woman for her daughter's injury, who also expressed her gratitude before taking off.

"Dad, do you have to intervene?", his daughter asked, not knowing the essence of wasting their time on such matters which has no concern to them.

"How else will you uphold your integrity if you turn a blind eye to the weak in need, others will not think about this, but imagine yourself in their shoes, how would you have felt if being treated this way. Try to offer the little help you can if you see others in need", he advised as they made their toward a carriage bearing the emblem ( two sword crossed in a X shape with a lion behind it) of the Double Sword guild.
