Chapter 170: Dragon Fury
"What? Revenge, obviously."
Immediately afterward, King Faust felt his entire machine plummeting.
"Boom–!!"
The giant mechanical T-Rex, Dorma Anim, slammed into the ground, and Faust inside felt his blood pressure skyrocketing. Before he could react, Dorma Anim was jerked upward again.
"Boom–!!"
"Curse you!!" King Faust fumed as Dorma Anim struck earth once more.
"You're the real bastard here. You want to snatch all the magic, huh? I'll show you what magic actually is!!"
"Magic!"
"Boom!!!"
"Magic!"
"Boom!!"
Su Yan kept slamming Dorma Anim, punctuating each throw with a shouted word. King Faust, rattled to the core, was going insane. He was the king of Edolas—he had annihilated countless nations, unifying the entire realm—and now he was being tossed around like a rag doll.
It was the greatest humiliation he had ever suffered.
"Crack!"
Dorma Anim's tail suddenly snapped off, freeing Faust from Su Yan's grip.
Seething with rage, King Faust screamed, "Die! Die! Die! You damned brat, you must die!! I'll never let you steal even a shred of Edolas's magic!!"
Dorma Anim frantically absorbed more and more magic power from the surroundings, focusing it into the cannon in its maw.
Seeing this, Su Yan quickly wrapped his right arm in hardened armament haki and compressed conqueror's haki, purple lightning crackling around his fist. But then he realized Dorma Anim wasn't aiming at him; instead, it pointed toward a floating island in the sky. A sudden, ominous feeling gripped Su Yan.
Just then, Happy flew over and shouted, "Su Yan!! We found the magic crystal—it's on that floating island!!"
Su Yan's expression changed. He roared at King Faust, "You will DIE!!!"
"Hahahahaha!! You want those magic crystals? They belong to Edolas! If I can't have them, neither can anyone else!!"
"Black Sky Dragon Roar Cannon—FIRE!!!"
Magic circles lined up before Dorma Anim's muzzle.
"Riiiiip—-!!"
A massive laser beam lanced toward the floating island above the capital. Su Yan shot into the air, intercepting it. The enormous beam swallowed him whole.
"Boom—-!!!"
A devastating explosion flared high above the city, so bright that everyone shielded their eyes. The shockwave rocked the entire capital.
"Hahahaha~!! Someone tried to block the Black Sky Dragon Roar Cannon with their body—an absolute fool!" Faust gloated. "Now the last threat to Edolas is gone! Nobody can stop our great kingdom from obtaining eternal magic!!"
Suddenly—"Boom–!!"
The cloudless Edolas sky grew dark, thunderheads gathering over the entire realm.
"Crackle—-!!"
Lightning wove across the stormy clouds, and within each flash, onlookers glimpsed a colossal shape. Everyone craned their necks upward.
A moment later, the dark clouds split open and a gigantic dragon's head emerged. The sight left onlookers across the capital frozen in shock.
"What…what is that?!"
"A dragon?!!"
"Dear God, how is there a dragon in our sky?!"
Even though Edolas was nearly devoid of magic, legends of dragons still existed—just as in a non-magical Earthland one might still find ancient dragon myths.
"D-dragon…this can't be real!" Pantherlily muttered, struggling to believe the spectacle above him.
"Haha, Su Yan's serious now," Gajeel said, eyes wide at the sight of the massive azure dragon. "Your kingdom is doomed. But you could always come be my cat," he added snidely toward Pantherlily, though his own thoughts swirled with shock at Su Yan's sheer size. Compared to Metalicana, who'd raised him, this dragon's body dwarfed everything.
"Su Yan?"
"You didn't know? That's the same guy who stormed the palace alone," Gajeel explained.
"Him?!!" Pantherlily couldn't believe it. Su Yan had looked human. How could he transform into a dragon?
"Why is there a dragon?!" the denizens of Edolas cried, fear tingling through them. "Isn't it supposed to be just a myth?!"
On the other hand, Natsu and Wendy wore no fear; excitement sparkled in their eyes.
"It's Su Yan!!" Natsu shouted.
"Brother Su Yan!" Wendy echoed, just as thrilled.
Both were Dragon Slayers, but it wasn't about whether they could fight a dragon; dragons were their kin. Su Yan's current form, though terrifying to others, felt oddly comforting to them.
"Su Yan?!!"
"Brother Su Yan?!!"
Lisanna and Edolas Lucy stared in stunned disbelief.
"That huge dragon up there is Brother Su Yan?!" Lisanna asked. She vaguely remembered Lucy and Wendy mentioning something last night, but never pictured something so massive.
"That's right—it's him. We were all stunned the first time we saw it," Lucy replied. "For him to use that form now means the Edolas king really ticked him off."
Indeed, Faust's actions had enraged Su Yan to his core.
When a dragon is provoked, blood will flow far and wide.
High in the clouds, Su Yan's voice rumbled across the heavens. "How dare you threaten my companions? You're beyond redemption!!"
