Chapter 48: Chapter 48 The So-Called Tyrant
The survival soil of dark guilds in this world is relatively rare, but there are still many magicians who go to extremes and pursue the supreme magic to join them.
On this point, the second-generation members of the Fairy Tail Guild have the most say.
Therefore, these dark guilds are like weeds. After being removed, they continue to grow, which is very annoying.
When the Mermaid Heel ship, driven by Risley, neared a small island emerging in the distance, Risley said to Caesar and Mirajane, "We're here, on that small island. Caesar, let's discuss a plan. The other party has a large number of people, we—"
"The plan is simple."
Caesar looked at Risley and Kagura and said, "We'll break through head-on. I'll take the lead."
"...Is it really that simple and crude?"
Kagura was stunned. She felt Caesar's entire thought process was out of the ordinary.
"If not?"
Mirajane scoffed, "If your strength lets you ignore the strongest guy on the other side, then you'd think the same way. No need for schemes—just bulldoze your way through with strength."
Risley: …
Kagura: …
They could understand the logic, but pulling it off was another story.
At Caesar's signal, Risley sped up and sailed directly toward the island.
This obvious approach was quickly noticed by the dark guild, Phantom Lord: Water of the Spring.
When Caesar and the others were still two nautical miles away, Caesar suddenly sensed an odd fluctuation in the surrounding magic. The calm sea began to churn violently, frothing like it had been set ablaze.
In an instant, a massive water column surged into the sky like a cannonball, targeting the ship.
"Be careful! This is heavy water magic! The water pressure alone can destroy the ship!"
Risley shouted in warning.
Caesar smiled. A soft light flashed over his body, and his short hair lengthened into translucent blue waves.
Take over: Aquarius!
He had drawn this card at random while summoning Megumin cards. Though a gold-tier card, Caesar had always considered it filler due to its high drop rate—far more frequent than Megumin's rarer purple cards.
But as the celestial spirit of water, Aquarius's control over aquatic magic was exceptional.
Caesar kept it as a backup—and now, it paid off.
"Water Summons."
He waved his arm lightly. The violent water column suddenly froze mid-air like a stopped animation. Then, with another casual wave, it dissolved peacefully back into the sea.
The chaotic ocean calmed in an instant. The previous fury seemed like a fleeting illusion.
On the island, Blaise's face twisted in shock. Sweat poured down his forehead.
He desperately tried to channel magic, but it felt like the entire world had cut him off. Water, which once bent to his will, now ignored his presence entirely.
This was powerlessness. Despair. He could only gape in disbelief.
This... was the gap in rank!
Not something that could be bridged by magic type alone!
"Be careful, they're coming!"
The sentries' panicked cries rang out as a chilling wind swept across Phantom Lord's camp. It cut like icy daggers, sending shivers through everyone.
Before they could respond, the sea itself froze into a massive field of ice—still and deathly silent. Time seemed to stop.
A golden light burst from the ship, streaking into the sky before stabilizing midair.
As the light dimmed, a figure appeared.
Caesar stood in midair.
In his hand was a blade gleaming with cold light. Mist and frost surrounded the weapon. His entire form glowed with golden flames, like a war god descending. His regal robes flowed behind him as he stared down from the heavens.
"It's over! It's the tyrant of goblins!"
"No way! That's him?"
"It's not Mermaid Heel—it's Fairy Tail! The goblins are here!"
The name alone crushed their will.
Caesar's reputation paralyzed Phantom Lord's forces.
"Tyrant? Let me see what you're made of!"
A voice rang out as a figure soared into the air.
Covered in scales with icy-blue wings and a long tail, a man fully transformed through take over magic opened his arms, blasting a beam of light toward Caesar.
"Your opponent is me!"
But Mirajane, in Satan Soul form, flapped her bat wings and intercepted him mid-air. She clasped her hands together and fired a devastating flash that shattered the enemy's attack.
"Dark Spark!"
Her hands unleashed rapid bursts of dark magic like a machine gun.
The transformed Lyon's eyes narrowed as he retreated, using a spear of flowing water to deflect the barrage.
Despite deflecting the blasts, the impact pushed him away from the main fight. Mirajane pursued him, and the two began their own battle.
Meanwhile, Caesar floated above and said calmly, "Mermaid Heel, leave the minions to you. I'll deal with the water user."
"It's Phantom Lord, bastard!"
Blaise roared. Though heavy water magic was sealed, he had other tricks.
As Caesar charged at him, Blaise twisted the ring on his hand, launching fireballs like meteors.
Caesar simply swung his sword. Frost erupted, extinguishing the flames before they reached him.
"Sitting in the frosty sky—Hyorinmaru!"
With his Zanpakuto released, Caesar turned toward another incoming blast. Smiling faintly, he swung once. Countless razor-sharp ice spears rained down in a storm.
Each shard shimmered with biting cold, hurtling like divine punishment.
Risley and Kagura paused mid-charge, staring at the ice storm in awe.
When it finally ceased, the battlefield had turned into a frozen wasteland.
Most Phantom Lord grunts were encased in solid ice. Only a few stragglers remained, trembling.
Risley and Kagura exchanged glances, stunned.
Only now did they grasp why Caesar was called "tyrant."
His overwhelming strength. His unrelenting attacks. They inspired both awe and fear.
"That's brutal..."
Risley muttered before rushing ahead.
If they didn't act now, Caesar's magic would wipe out the rest. If Mermaid Heel didn't even get to fight, they'd lose all credibility.
Risley and Kagura charged. The surviving grunts, terrified by Caesar, scattered at the slightest provocation.
The field cleared swiftly.
Caesar approached Blaise slowly.
Panting, Blaise looked up at the calm, unreadable Caesar and felt his heart sink.
"I'll give you two choices."
Caesar's voice was quiet but firm. "One: surrender. I'll bind you and send you to prison. Two: resist, and I'll end it right here. Choose."
Faced with this ultimatum, Blaise felt utterly trapped. Did he really have a choice?
The tyrant wasn't offering mercy. Just an end.
