Ch. 36
Chapter 36: ‘Accidentally’ Going Viral
Yuan Meng’s outfit was already eye-catching, and coupled with her cute appearance, she attracted countless glances as she ran all the way.
People were shocked to see the Celestial Child of Bright Moon personally coming out to eat fried rice. How delicious must it be? They had to try it too.
Soon, more and more people gathered behind the snack cart. When the cart owner circled back after shaking off the City Enforcement Officers, he found that his stall had been taken over. He immediately began quarreling with the intruder, leaving him no time to notice the greedy young miss who had been following him all the way just to eat.
Miss Yuan was so angry that she stomped her foot in front of the stall. But her adorable look quickly attracted a crowd, and some people even mistook her for the stall owner, thinking she was another influencer trying to stir up attention.
“Boss, I’ll take a fried rice!”
“I want a fried rice noodle!”
“Give me fried noodles, add sausage and egg!”
Forced into the role of “boss,” Yuan Meng hurriedly explained that she was just passing by and not the owner, but the more she explained, the more people gathered.
Finally, exhausted and starving, Miss Yuan exploded. She shoved the owner behind her.
“Boss, stop quarreling and hurry to fry the rice. I’ll argue in your place!”
With that, Yuan Meng planted her hands on her hips, facing the middle-aged stall owner selling skewers, her little mouth rattling nonstop.
“Hey, what are you staring at? I eat here all the time. He’s always in this spot. Just now we were driven off by the City Enforcement Officers.
You don’t believe me? How can you be so unreasonable!
I ran all this way and didn’t even get a bite to eat, and you still dared to take our spot. I… wuaa~~”
As she spoke, all the frustration from gaming earlier and running around without food erupted. Miss Yuan broke into tears, crying pitifully, tears streaming down her face. The sight scared the rival stall owner into fleeing.
At last, thanks to Miss Yuan’s efforts, the three of them finally got to enjoy a midnight snack.
‘Miss Yuan Meng the Sales Champion Bringing Along Her Two Useless Colleagues’ was on full display in that moment.
Miss Yuan even tearfully devoured a large serving of fried rice, along with a portion of fried rice noodles.
By the time they returned home, it was already late into the night. After washing up in the bathroom, Yuan Meng clasped her hands together, bowed three times to her phone, and prayed.
“Latin dance, Latin dance, Latin dance, please, please! Open!”
【Second Battalion Commander’s Italian Cannon, ¥60】
【Stone Bollard by the Road, ¥4.31】
【Xinxiangyin 24-Pack Tissues, one pack equals three packs, ¥0.01】
【Tujia Honey, drink daily with water, aids digestion and detoxification, beautifies skin; ¥4.88】
Seeing the four items on the shopping page, Lin Mo couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed.
As for the arsenal, an actual Italian cannon—what was the point? He wasn’t about to go and invade Ping’an County.
And what was with the roadside stone bollard? People were selling that online? Was it supposed to cure menstrual pain?
Not to mention, what was he supposed to do with it? If he bought it, wouldn’t it just drop directly onto his stomach? In that case, forget going to school—by tomorrow that greedy young miss would be eating at his funeral feast.
With no better choice, he selected the Tujia Honey. Although this thing could also be bought outside, its claimed effects of aiding digestion and beautifying skin should at least be enhanced, right?
After payment was successful, a plastic bottle with no label appeared out of thin air. Inside was amber-colored honey.
How to describe it? The packaging and color made it look as though someone had just grabbed an empty bottle and stuffed in some food coloring. It looked like a defective product.
But since he had already bought it, he boiled some water, scooped in a spoonful, stirred it evenly, let it cool slightly, and drank it all in one go.
To his surprise, it tasted sweet and was actually quite good.
Seeing that it was already late, Lin Mo went straight to sleep.
The next morning, Lin Mo woke up half an hour earlier than usual. If he didn’t get up, things were going to overflow.
He then sat on the toilet for over forty minutes, feeling as though he had lightened by several pounds.
As for the smell—best not to mention it. He had to flush countless times.
But when he finally walked out of the bathroom, he felt greatly refreshed. Sensing the changes in his body, Lin Mo was quite satisfied. Money was only external—something that actually benefited his health was a true treasure.
At this rate, his body would soon escape the sub-health state common among young people these days.
He couldn’t say he’d live to a hundred, but at least he wouldn’t get any major illness.
He opened all the windows at home to ventilate, then went to work. He also noticed that his appetite had increased a lot today.
Arriving at the company, he instinctively walked toward his usual workstation. After all, he had sat there for months.
But he immediately saw Dong Dawei already working at his desk, his attitude extremely proper, none of the arrogance he had shown during yesterday’s lunch.
“Brother Lin, you’re here!” Fatty Dong smiled obsequiously, showing just how adaptable he was.
He had no choice. Of the few remaining managers, he was the most nervous one. Though his manager title hadn’t been stripped, he was the only one in this awkward position. He knew this was President Liu’s warning for offending the two yesterday.
So now, all he could do was adjust his attitude and let President Liu see it. Once her anger subsided, he would be safe.
“No problem, I’ll take a stroll.”
Lin Mo took a deep breath and spoke, but he felt as though his fist had just punched into cotton.
“President Liu instructed that from now on, when you come to the company, just head directly to the office. I’ll take care of things here!” Dong Dawei quickly reassured him.
Since yesterday, when Liu Rushuang had called Yuan Meng and Lin Mo into the office, he had realized that Lin Mo’s relationship with President Liu wasn’t ordinary—at least, not like Zhang Wei’s. He could still see that much.
When he got home yesterday, he secretly regretted not realizing earlier that there were so many people with connections in his company.
Entering the office, it was clear that Emperor Rushuang hadn’t arrived yet. With nothing to do, Lin Mo brewed himself a cup of tea, enjoying the treatment of leadership.
A newspaper and a few cups of tea—he could endure this little hardship.
As for those who couldn’t sit still, well, if you couldn’t sit still, who could you blame? (As Uncle Benshan roared)
Just as he was leisurely sipping tea, Miss Yuan stormed in, her twin ponytails bouncing as she grabbed a cup of tea and downed it in one gulp. Then she slammed the cup heavily on the desk.
“I’m furious!”
Lin Mo: ???
“What’s wrong? Couldn’t take a dump this morning?”
“You shut up! You’re the one who couldn’t take a dump!” Yuan Meng glared at him.
Lin Mo grew even more curious: “Then what happened?”
“Damn it, I don’t know which bastard recorded us eating late-night snacks yesterday and uploaded it to Douyin. It even made the trending list! Waa~~ My lifelong reputation!”
“Whoa, let me check.”
Lin Mo quickly opened his phone, searched, and soon found the video. On screen, Miss Yuan wore the Bright Moon Ancestor outfit, first chasing the snack cart, then being mistaken for the boss, then quarreling on the owner’s behalf, until she ended up crying in frustration.
The video had been posted late last night, and by now it already had over 4 million likes and hundreds of thousands of comments. It was a complete hit.
“Holy crap, you’re famous now, Sister Yuan!”
Just then, Liu Rushuang pushed open the door and walked in.
“Who’s famous?”
“Sister Yuan, Sister Yuan is famous—she’s trending!”
But Liu Rushuang’s next words left the two of them speechless.
“Oh, that? I know. I invested 100,000 in Dou+.”
Lin Mo: …
