Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking

Chapter 632: Cosmic Wandering Whale

--

Whoever that person was, it's clear that he's angry.

From the security of Cedric's hiding spot, he saw the man who just shouted. And to his surprise, he found the very first human like him in this primitive universe.

He couldn't be mistaken. His eyes, even though not as effective and as omniscient as they were within the prison, could still see through layers of lies and deceit, and this man was wearing none.

His biology was extremely similar to his. He's an evolver just like Cedric. And judging by his mood, he's more than enraged.

Cedric watched the man throw a tantrum. He screamed, repeatedly cursed another man named 'Oliver,' extending that curse to his clan. He spoke of how he wanted to plunge his arm into his heart, drink his blood, grind his bones, feast upon his soul, and so much more that it made Cedric shiver because it's been a while since he saw a man this mad at someone. And that's on top of him attacking everything in sight like they owe him something, but he's mostly surrounded only by ruins and debris.

But beyond this, Cedric questioned the man's intelligence.

'This idiot, does he not know where he is? '

'All of his yelling and temper tantrums have attracted the attention of the slumbering beasts nearby. I get that he's mad at whoever this Oliver is, but damn, he's courting death! '

And to make matters worse, this guy isn't even that strong. He's at the peak of the Grand Solar Level. Cedric had no idea how he got here, nor did he care too much to be completely honest, but he'd be really tired of living if he thought that he was alone in this place.

Crash! Roar!

'Oh, buddy. You're fucked.' Cedric pitied the fool as he minimized his presence even more, shrinking deeper into his hiding spot.

The stranger's yells and tantrums just provoked the ire of a huge slumbering monster.

Cedric watched with grim fascination as space and time twisted, forming a strange phenomenon that made the raving lunatic freeze. Cedric saw the guy's face turning as pale as a sheet of paper before slowly turning around in dread, only to see a massive yet narrow eye glaring at him.

'Holy shit! 'Cedric! exclaimed someone inwardly, making himself smaller if at all possible.

Even the several creatures he sensed nearby wisely coiled into their habitats, making their presence as small as it could possibly be, afraid of provoking the ire of whatever that thing was.

'Yep, he's done for. He provoked a sleeping giant! Fuck! '

The giant was, in truth, a space whale. A creature that is so big that it would make the Ancient Titan Chancellor look like a mere child in comparison.

That scene where time and space seemingly stilled or twisted into a jumbled mess? Well, that happened only because the beast opened its eyes. And its glare was enough to completely paralyze the poor lunatic's body and soul.

Cedric silently and sneakily calculated. He then discovered that the poor guy was truly unlucky. Because apparently, in one of his maddened tantrums, he accidentally hit the Space Whale's body.

Of course he couldn't hurt it; even if this guy managed to launch an attack that would make an Immortal wary, it still wouldn't hurt the whale; it probably wouldn't even leave a scratch.

His attack obviously didn't reach that level. However, even if it doesn't hurt, it would be enough to wake the beast from its slumber.

"No! No! I'm sorry! I didn't mean it, I swear! Please don't kill me! I can't die!"

Now, he's begging. Cedric was willing to bet that this guy finally understood where he's at. Alas, it's a little too late for that. He should've thought of this from the very beginning. If he did, he'd still be alive.

Cedric watched as time and space twisted even more frantically around the poor lunatic. He tried resisting, but his meager strength was far from sufficient to do so. In the end, he was erased in all aspects. He was erased from the river of time and space completely. No resurrections for him.

The annihilation was swift, decisive, and silent. From start to finish, the Space Whale only opened its eyes and glared at the poor guy. It made no other moves whatsoever. It's a firm display of its horrifying strength and abilities.

Cedric held his breath. He couldn't shrink any smaller in his hiding spot, so he stopped bothering to do so. Instead, he focused his efforts on making his presence mute, blending together with the surroundings. He stayed completely still, not wanting to provoke the ire of the gigantic beast, lest he suffer the same fate as that poor lunatic.

Moments later, the massive eye closed up once more. The active space and time calmed down, and stillness returned to the death zone.

Cedric felt a slight movement, a shift, in his surroundings. He pinched his fingers and guessed that the Space Whale must've shifted its body slightly to make itself comfortable to continue its slumber. Once it did that, nothing else happened. Peace and quiet returned.

Cedric spent hours, or maybe a day or two, staying completely still like that. Even when the other creatures began to test the waters with small activities, he remained still, not willing to risk anything.

It wasn't until he was at least 80% sure that the Space Whale had fallen back to sleep that he started moving, but even then, his actions were careful and deliberate.

The event was a strong reminder to him why this place was called a 'Death Zone.'

Actually, he had to thank that lunatic, after all. Because if it weren't for him, Cedric wouldn't have discovered that there was a massive space whale nearby.

Despite Cedric's minor mastery at the fundamental level over space and time laws, he still wasn't able to sense the presence of the space whale. This means that it's a creature that's currently above his perception. His meager achievements wouldn't even come close enough to qualify to see this thing.

Moreover, Cedric honestly doesn't know much about that space whale.

He knows that it's technically called a 'Cosmic Wandering Whale'; calling it Space Whale is easier, though, so that's how many people described it. This whale is a true Primordial Beast and is extremely huge in size and extremely powerful. Other than these minor details, Cedric doesn't know the rest.

But even though he doesn't know Space Whales intimately, Cedric knew that he'd be a goddamn idiot if he provoked its ire.

As everything returned to its usual calm, Cedric moved. He first took a peek at the spot where the poor lunatic died.

It's like nothing ever happened. Aside from a few things floating around, not even a smear of blood or guts could be seen in there. Yep, what happened to the poor dude was complete and total spacetime annihilation. Hell, he wouldn't even be surprised if his actual existence, like the memories of people about him, starts disappearing too.

Shaking his head, Cedric allowed him to take a few steps out of his hiding spot.

His eyes were locked on to the remains of that poor lunatic. The only things he left as proof of his existence were a cube, a ring, and a pendant.

Cedric beckoned and fetched these now ownerless items. Yet another benefit that landed on his lap just by being present, another thing he had to thank that lunatic for.

After grabbing these things, Cedric flew away. He returned to the safety net of the void slave and his temporary base before studying the remains of the lunatic.

The cube and the ring were both storage items. The cube was for inanimate items, and the ring had a large pocket dimension inside, capable of supporting life at a certain level.

It's an unexpected windfall for Cedric. At least he's no longer broke now.

The poor guy's name turns out to be Cade, no surname. And he's somewhat rich from what the story inside his storage spaces tells.

Cedric saw stacks of crates filled with evolver potions ranging from planetary level to cosmic level. There are even a few that reached the Immortal Level, and these were secured with a runic array, which Cedric swore to decode when he has time later.

He also saw racks of weapons ranging from planetary to cosmic level. There were armors, rare treasures, and raw materials, as well as both hard and virtual currencies.

In the ring, he discovered farms, a large greenhouse, and a ranch filled with exotic creatures. All with self-sufficient systems that didn't require Cedric's input at all.

"Gee, Cade! Who the hell are you, really? How come you're so damn rich?"

Cedric shook his head. Both storage items were filled with enough treasures to fund a dynasty, and yet this guy was just casually carrying them around. And because of his stupidity, he lost them and his life because, apparently, he couldn't keep his mouth shut and his temper in check.

In the end, everything he owned now fell to Cerric's hand. And there's definitely way too much here that he doesn't even know what to do with.

"Alright, what's this pendant all about?"
