Chapter 631: Discovery
--
Cedric created a temporary base to stay in for the time being...
It's located within the range of the Void Slave and the prison and is also discreet and secure enough to rest in whenever his clone gets tired.
Yes, the clone can get tired. It came as a surprise to him at first since he hadn't felt tired for a very long time; he almost forgot that it could happen. Because apparently, his bountiful and vast Chaos Energy reserves were being drained out here at a very surprising rate.
Cedric stood corrected, actually. Because as it turns out, his 'Chaos Energy' wasn't unique at all. It's not some product of the Primordial Chaos, not even a close imitation of it out here.
He learned from the data pad that it's called 'Origin Energy' instead. An energy source produced by evolvers when they reached the Grand Solar Realm and what they'd be using moving forward.
Origin Energy is the most flexible and adaptable energy source out here, and it's also one of the very few energy sources that could fuse with concept laws, allowing the evolvers to display and manifest the real might of the concept laws.
The 'Path of Ancient Chaos' he 'discovered' by accident turned out to be a fortuitous coincidence instead, and it's the very reason why the Void Slave said that his and the Chancellor's approximate strength, compared to the locals of the Chaos Realm, was close to that of Immortal Realm evolvers, albeit unbalanced.
Because Cedric's clone was practicing under the rules of the Primitive Universe, he's subjected to it too. The skills, techniques, spells, and other things he knew that he used to casually toss out, not minding the energy cost since he believed that he'd never run out, had to be reconsidered out here.
His surprise upon finding out that his clone became tired and out of energy remained fresh in his memory since it hasn't been that long. It made him smile wryly since this world kept reminding him that he's no longer special.
Another reason why Cedric built a temporary base here was for an additional layer of security.
Cedric actually created a third clone, which he also sent out here.
For what purpose? Exploration.
Yes. After many years of skirting around the safety net of the Void Slave, Cedric was finally ready and somewhat confident to explore this so-called 'Death Zone' deeper.
Cedric already decided to explore the vastness of the Primitive Universe on his own, and that journey can't start unless he figures out a way out of here.
The third clone, and maybe more clones in the future, will serve as rescue for other clones in case of emergency. Despite only sending clones out here, each clone of his has a portion of his soul, and Cedric wasn't really all that willing to lose those anytime soon. He's still largely ignorant about this world. Who can say that there are no skills or magic out here that could affect the soul?
It's better to believe that there are some instead of believing that there are none at all.
But he wouldn't be sending out a clone further away for now because he's getting close to a deeper synchronization.
As the Void Slave said, his approximate strength was around the Immortal Level but very lacking because of his ignorance.
What he must do is synchronize with the Primitive Universe and correct his existence according to its rules. He doesn't have to start Life Evolution all over again.
During his first synchronization, which was when he allowed himself to be baptized by the concept law of the Primitive Universe, his strength reached the Grand Solar Realm standards. Yes, only up to that level, but that's only because he's lacking in so many areas.
His current state, to the eyes of locals, could be considered an anomaly. Because while he's as tough as an Immortal Realm expert, his actual abilities weren't even as good as those in the Planetary Realm at the start.
But the more he makes up for what he lacks, the faster his strength level approaches his actual strength level.
Right now, he's at the peak of the Grand Solar Realm. He could even say that he's half a step away from reaching the Cosmic Realm. Because of this, he figured that he might as well work on this first before sending out his clone to explore.
Achievements in terms of concept law comprehension are divided into entry level, basic proficiency, minor mastery, great mastery, and perfection levels.
So far, Cedric's achievements are
[Fire Laws—Great Mastery at Fundamental Level.]
[Sword Laws and Runic Laws—Great Mastery at Fundamental Level.]
[Space and Time Laws—Minor Mastery and Fundamental Level.]
[The rest of the five elements + Divination Laws—Basic Proficiency Level].
He wasn't trying to be an overachiever here; this was merely the result of his synchronization with the Primitive Universe.
Actually, there are a ton missing here. After all, Cedric dabbled in pretty much everything there is, not because he's trying to bite off more than he can chew, but simply because it came to him naturally.
At that time, he didn't know that he and all of the many creatures within the Primeval Scarlet Dust Realm turned out to be mere experiments. He had no idea that there was a much bigger world out there. In his realm, he had reached omnipotence; here, he was merely a sad anomaly.
Once any of his concept laws reached the Perfection Stage, or if he's lucky, the Great Law level, which is very likely to be his Fire Laws if he were being honest, that means that he could call himself a genuine Immortal Warrior of the Primitive Universe.
But with how vast and mysterious the laws of the Primitive Universe were, it'd still take some time before he got there, but he was enjoying the ride, so it wasn't a big deal.
Still, with his current achievements in concept laws, he should be able to reach the Cosmic Level soon. And when that happens, his inner world will expand once more, and his Origin Energy pool will become deeper and more abundant than before.
**
Mystical lights flickered all over the clone's body, but it's mostly dominated by a bright golden radiance.
Heat rolled off from him, and flames erupted out of nowhere. The flames pulsed in sync with his breaths. The other lights were dim, but they didn't dissipate; they stuck around and kept illuminating his body in a mysterious way.
Cedric could feel his strength rising. His awareness expanded beyond the norm. Every cell in his body cheered happily because of what's happening. His inner world expanded, and his Origin Energy was displaying rigorous activities. He could feel his soul swelling too.
This sensation was happening both to his clones and his real body at the same time. The breakthrough of the clone will affect everybody, including the main body; that's the beauty behind this technique, which was actually recognized and allowed by the laws of the Primitive Universe.
Cedric felt exhilarated from head to toe and down to his soul. Reaching the cosmic level of strength here gave him more confidence to achieve his goals.
After spending a week or so to stabilize and get used to his strength level, Cedric stopped postponing things.
He was amazed, actually, because the disparity between the half-step stage and the genuine Cosmic Realm stage turns out to be extremely large. In his estimates, no half-step Cosmic Realm expert could ever compete with a true Cosmic Realm life evolver, even if the latter just broke through.
This made him believe that fighting above one's strength level might not be possible here. But that's just him guessing based on his experience. He's still largely ignorant about the vastness of this world, after all.
Anyways...
With this breakthrough, Cedric's second and third clones were stronger now; therefore, he's more confident about sending one deeper into this Death Zone to find an exit.
Actually, the Void Slip could send him away. In fact, it could directly drop him to the nearby human civilization if he truly wanted to. But Cedric didn't take this offer because it's simply not worth it.
First of all, if the Void Slave were to do this, it would spend a lot of its energy to do so, which isn't a good thing for the realm. If the prison becomes unstable, it might risk exposure, and that just won't do.
Also, Cedric wanted to do this on his own because it would be more meaningful to do so. He couldn't rely on the Void Slave too much. It was his decision to explore, so it should also be him who bears the risk and responsibilities of his decision.
With his elevated strength, Cedric sent the second clone out, going outside the safety net of the Void Slave for the first time in many years.
As he controlled the clone, he pinched his finger to calculate and remained wary of his surroundings.
Not even 10 minutes after he got out, his caution already proved its worth because he sensed a presence nearby that made him hide and suppress his presence.
"DAMN! DAMN YOU AND YOUR CLAN, OLIVER!"
