Eclipse of the Heart: The Alpha’s Forbidden Mate

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: The Spirit Mink Appears

There wasn't the pain she expected. The wolf laboriously lifted its head. When it saw the astonishment in Li Ge's eyes, and the undeniable pity, the wolf couldn't help but raise its eyebrows. Snarl, snarl. It bared its teeth and tried to shake off Li Ge's hand resting on its head.

How could it possibly need the pity of a foolish woman? If it were possible, it would tear the throat of this woman before it.

Watching the wolf's reluctant behavior, Li Ge laughed. This wolf was far more interesting than any animal she had ever seen. She blurted out, "How about you become my pet?"

She didn't expect the wolf to respond, but the pain in her hand reminded her that this was no ordinary wolf.

The response she received was a fierce bite.

"Ouch, that hurts, let go!" Li Ge didn't dare to pull hard. She carefully extended her other hand, trying to pry open the wolf's jaws.

Li Ge knew that if she used even a little more force, her palm would be pierced. She could feel the blood flowing along her veins towards the wound, flowing through the wolf's teeth into its mouth.

What the wolf didn't know was that her blood was a detoxifying elixir, and also the best remedy to break the Beast Taming Art.

Finally realizing that her blood tasted different from the previous wolf, watching the wolf grow stronger and more energetic because of her nourishment, Li Ge shook her head. It seemed she was truly going to die here today. But she didn't regret it. Dying in the mouth of a wild beast naturally hostile to humans was better than being betrayed by her own people.

She only regretted that she still hadn't figured out why she was here. She had been attacked by a bear and should have died, yet she had somehow ended up deep in this forest.

As the wolf continued to lick, Li Ge grew weaker and weaker, and her head felt heavier and heavier. In the originally pitch-black night, Li Ge miraculously saw stars filling the sky. She weakly slumped to the ground, and her other hand touched the stickiness on the wolf's foreleg. It seemed everything was destined. Because of the Beast Taming Art, the wolf had bitten her, and within the time it took to burn a stick of incense, she was receiving retribution.

But what puzzled her was why the wolf didn't simply bite through her hand and then tear her apart.

Just as Li Ge was imagining her final outcome, the wolf suddenly shook its head, easily throwing her to the side. Hiss. Her body, which had already stopped hurting, was once again torn by the hard grass on the ground. Li Ge smiled bitterly. She was destined to die without a complete body. Thinking this, the stars in Li Ge's vision disappeared, and she fell into a deep darkness.

Li Ge entered a deep dream, a place where she had grown up. There was her master, who treated her like her own child and taught her all her skills. There was the spirit mink that had accompanied her for three years. There was the small vegetable garden she had cultivated in front of her door, and the wild rabbits that occasionally came to steal her vegetables. And of course, there were those 'family members' who had sent her to the bear's den.

Faces flashed through her mind like a revolving lantern. Li Ge knew this was a sign of her impending death. Thinking of this, the remaining longing and resentment gradually faded with the blurring images. It was also true. She would soon cease to exist in this world, and all emotional entanglements should dissipate with the wind.

Just as Li Ge was gradually relaxing and accepting death, she suddenly felt as if someone was choking her throat. Li Ge felt she couldn't breathe. She struggled to shake off the constriction around her throat, but with each movement, the shackles around her throat tightened. Li Ge gasped, was it really so difficult to even die?

She angrily opened her eyes, and what came into view was a face so handsome it was infuriating, and icy green eyes that didn't match that face at all.

"Want me to be your pet?" a deep, magnetic voice sounded.

Li Ge weakly shook her head. A green-eyed Eastern man?

It seemed she hadn't woken up yet.

The force choking her neck grew stronger, and Li Ge's face turned purple. The pain in her throat and body all indicated that everything was real.

Li Ge raised her hand tremulously. Due to prolonged unconsciousness, she was weak all over. Her arm, drooping for a long time, was numb and itchy from the blood loss. She gripped the large hand that hadn't loosened at all, trying to pry it open. This self-defeating act was like an ant trying to shake a mountain, utterly foolish.

The man watched Li Ge, her forehead bulging with effort, and raised his eyebrows mockingly. It seemed the woman's intelligence had flowed out with her blood. Thinking this, he glanced at Li Ge's hands, covered in dried blood. Fortunately, he hadn't bitten through her hand last night, otherwise, the woman would definitely have become an idiot.

"Let… let go…" Li Ge's purple face gradually paled, and beads of cold sweat glistened on her forehead, reflecting the orange sunrise, a beautiful sight.

But Ling Mo was not an ordinary person. He didn't appreciate the beauty before him. He just wanted to strangle the woman before him. Thinking about how he had fallen before this woman last night, without any ability to resist, if it were any other time, he would have died countless times at that moment.

Ling Mo's hand didn't loosen, but tightened. There was no trace of humanity in his icy green eyes, as if the creature he was about to crush was nothing more than an ant.

Defeatedly releasing her attempt to pry open Ling Mo's hand, Li Ge's strength dissipated. Knowing she was doomed today, she curled her lips into a smile. She had faced death three times in one day and one night. It was truly exhausting.

Watching the woman's acceptance of death, Ling Mo's icy green eyes didn't waver. He tightened his grip, waiting for the satisfying crack of her neck breaking.

Suddenly, a streak of black flashed before his eyes. The next moment, a deep, bone-deep cut appeared on the hand choking Li Ge. Ling Mo flung his hand away, cursing under his breath, "Damn it!"

Finally breathing in the long-lost air, she greedily gasped, "Cough, cough… cough, cough…"

Touching her neck, Li Ge knew her neck must be swollen. After a moment, she looked at the man in front of her, wondering why he had released his grip. When she saw the man frowning at his hand, which was still bleeding profusely, she immediately understood. She searched around and softly called out, "Xiao Hei?"

As expected, the black shadow that had just disappeared jumped into Li Ge's arms the next moment. The spirit mink, the size of her fist, affectionately rubbed its head against her cheek, its tongue even playfully licking her lips, the rough texture making her laugh, completely forgetting that she had just been on the verge of death.

"Xiao Hei, how did you get here?" Li Ge asked happily, holding the constantly jumping spirit mink.

Xiao Hei was a completely black mink she had unintentionally saved, with only white ears and a white mouth. Her master had said that this kind of mink was extremely rare, and its entire body was a treasure, especially its blood, which was both a deadly poison and a top-notch antidote.

Li Ge gently stroked Xiao Hei, waiting for its answer.

This wasn't the place where she had grown up, nor was it the trap where she had been attacked by the bear. And she hadn't brought Xiao Hei with her when she left the mountain. Li Ge wondered why the spirit mink had appeared here.
