Eclipse of the Heart: The Alpha’s Forbidden Mate

Chapter 1: Chapter 1, First Encounter with the Wolf

"Awooo…"

A wolf with humanity?

Li Ge narrowed her eyes. The surroundings were completely dark, and the thick earthy scent carried by the cool wind, mixed with the delicate fragrance of grass, told her she was deep within the forest. There was no time to think about how she had ended up here. She raised her eyebrows and looked at the wolf, panting heavily and cautiously watching her.

Hiss. Seeing Li Ge look at it, the wolf, half a man's height and powerfully built, bared its teeth. Instantly, a strong, bloody smell filled the air. Li Ge could faintly see dried blood around the wolf's mouth.

She adopted a defensive stance, the most effective method she had learned over the years of living in the forest to deal with wild beasts.

In the wolf's eyes, Li Ge's seemingly agile stance was utterly naive and laughable. A flash of mockery appeared in its deep green eyes.

Completely overestimating her abilities!

Li Ge subtly stared at the large animal that looked down on her. To be honest, she wasn't afraid of wolves. She wasn't afraid of any animal in the jungle. She thought about how long it had been since she last used her Beast Taming Art, wondering if it would still work. "The enemy doesn't move, I don't move," she thought, and she and the wolf stared at each other for a long moment. The wolf, perhaps sensing that this woman wasn't someone to be trifled with, hesitated to attack despite having its front paws already in an attacking position.

At this moment, both human and wolf were like startled birds, any slight disturbance could trigger a fierce battle between them.

Suddenly, rustle, a tree not far from the wolf shook with the sound of leaves, and a black shadow shot upwards.

"Caw, caw," the harsh cry of a crow sounded like the first shot fired in the confrontation between the woman and the wolf.

"Awooo…"

The wolf, taking advantage of its prepared stance, charged towards Li Ge. The sound of its paws stepping on the grass grew closer and closer, and its two sharp fangs gleamed white in the dark night, making her tremble.

A fierce aura rushed towards Li Ge, and the bloodthirsty eyes looking at her were like looking at a corpse. The bloodthirsty teeth were about to bite her neck. Li Ge tightened her legs and rolled to the side.

The grass on the ground had become hard and prickly after years of growth. Li Ge let out a muffled groan as her somewhat thin clothing came into contact with the ground, causing her nerves to contract. She knew her body was covered in tiny punctures, and even her nerves were aching.

Barely standing, before she could fully feel the sharp pain, the sound of hooves stepping on grass rang in her ears again. Thinking she absolutely couldn't lie down again, Li Ge mustered all her strength and ran deeper into the forest, while continuously reciting the incantation she had desperately tried to bury in the deepest part of her heart.

Li Ge, running relentlessly into the forest, didn't notice the contempt in the eyes of the wolf chasing behind her. It was the kind of look one would give a creature inferior to oneself.

Despite her best efforts, two legs couldn't compete with four. As Li Ge finished reciting the last line of the incantation, she felt the two sharp teeth sink into her back. She closed her eyes, waiting for the wolf to tear the flesh from her back.

Feeling the fangs deeply embedded in her back, a searing pain spread throughout her body. Li Ge broke into a cold sweat. She knew the worst pain hadn't come yet. She bit her teeth tightly, waiting for the pain that could kill her. But after a long moment, the fangs on her back slowly withdrew, and the pain gradually subsided. Li Ge blinked, looking at the wolf with disbelief. Its green eyes were filled with incredulity.

Could her Beast Taming Art have worked? Li Ge blinked hard, looking at the wolf, filled with disbelief, and saw pain in its green eyes. The wolf shook its head painfully, trying to clear its head, but its increasingly heavy head slowly lowered, and its four paws stumbled. Seeing it about to fall, Li Ge's eyes widened.

She saw the wolf baring its teeth and biting hard on its own foreleg. The smell of blood immediately permeated the area, completely overshadowing the earthy stench.

Li Ge couldn't believe her eyes. If it were a human, at least there would be intelligence to prevent something uncontrollable from happening. But now, standing awkwardly before her was a wolf, a creature considered inferior in the eyes of humans. For some reason, looking at the sight of the wolf's foreleg bleeding profusely, Li Ge felt a strange ache in her heart, a little sour, a little painful.

She had grown up in a secluded forest, and the number of people she had met could be counted on her fingers. The animals in the forest, whether cute and charming or bloodthirsty and ferocious, had always been her companions. In Li Ge's eyes, these were all her friends. If it weren't for the wolf trying to kill her, she wouldn't have used the Beast Taming Art that had harmed her.

With a thud, the massive body finally succumbed to the Beast Taming Art passed down through generations of the Hidden Li family and crashed to the ground. "Ugh," a heavy whimper seemed to come from the deepest part of the wolf's soul.

Watching it shake its huge body, the savage green eyes were replaced by deep self-mockery. Those eyes slowly closed, waiting for the human to strike.

Li Ge was still stunned by the wolf's self-harm and was captivated by the bitter, self-mocking gaze. She involuntarily walked towards the wolf with its head drooping. She hadn't intended to kill the massive beast, even though it had initially considered her food.

Hesitantly reaching out, Li Ge covered the surprisingly large head with her hand. Because the moon was hidden behind thick clouds, Li Ge knew the wolf was very large. Only when she walked closer did she realize it was the largest wolf she had ever seen. Just looking at its lying body, it was at least five feet long. Its limbs were still twitching, but Li Ge knew they were undoubtedly strong and powerful.

To the touch, it was smooth, which puzzled Li Ge. Even if these wild animals in the deep forest weren't covered in stench, they at least wouldn't have such soft fur. Feeling the soft wolf fur under her palm, Li Ge's heart softened. She had expected the fur to be commensurate with its size or temperament, but it was much smoother than the fur of the spirit mink she had once raised.
