Chapter 9: Chapter 5: A Flicker of Resolve (Part Two)
As night settled over Konoha, Ryusuke walked slowly back to his family's compound, deep in thought. The recent meeting with Shisui lingered in his mind, leaving him both inspired and anxious. Shisui's warmth and sincerity only reinforced how much he admired his clan. And yet, that admiration was shadowed by the grim memories of his past life-memories of what was destined to happen to the Uchiha clan.
Sasuke wasn't even born yet, which meant he still had about a year and some months until the events that would change everything. "That gives me time," he thought, clenching his fists. "I can't let the people I care about go through that fate. I have to do something... anything to protect them."
He had already pieced together the timeline: Sasuke's birth would be followed by the birth of Naruto Uzumaki. Then, just as Naruto entered the world, the Nine Tails would be unleashed on Konoha, manipulated by none other than Obito Uchiha. The devastation would lead the village to become even more suspicious of the Uchiha, and eventually, the seeds of conflict would sprout, culminating in the massacre.
"Obito..." Ryusuke muttered, a surge of anger flaring within him. "If only I could find him before he causes all that damage..."
But he knew that confronting Obito would be impossible for him right now. He was still a child, far too young and inexperienced to challenge someone as powerful and cunning as Obito. Still, he had to start somewhere. He needed a plan-one that could protect his family and the Uchiha without raising suspicion from the village.
Back in his room, Ryusuke sat cross-legged on the floor, lost in thought. He knew he'd need to become stronger, and fast. "If I'm to help the Uchiha, I have to be someone they'll listen to," he reasoned. "Someone they can trust." The clan's history and honor were deeply ingrained in their identities, and convincing them to change course wouldn't be easy.
He spent hours scribbling down ideas and strategies, considering every angle he could think of. "What if I could somehow convince the clan elders to cooperate more closely with the Hokage? Or if I could show the village that the Uchiha aren't a threat? But how do I do that without revealing what I know?"
The questions seemed endless, and the answers elusive. But he knew he couldn't do it alone. Itachi, Shisui, even his father Fugaku-they would be key players in this. He thought of Shisui's famous genjutsu, Kotoamatsukami, and how it could alter someone's mind so subtly that they'd never realize it. Maybe, just maybe, there could be a way to use that power to steer the clan away from disaster.
"But that's only if Shisui trusts me enough to share that with me," he realized. He would have to earn Shisui's confidence and prove himself as an ally to both him and Itachi, if he wanted any hope of implementing his plan.
Over the next few days, Ryusuke threw himself into training with renewed vigor. He worked tirelessly on his Sharingan, pushing himself to perfect his Godspeed technique, hoping that by gaining Shisui's attention and admiration, he could gradually earn his trust.
Every evening, he practiced his fire and lightning jutsu in secret, honing his chakra control with intense focus. "I'll become stronger," he promised himself, each breath steady and determined. "I'll become someone they can depend on, someone they'll listen to."
His interactions with his family took on new weight. He observed Fugaku closely, paying attention to his father's conversations and gathering insight into his values and fears. He noticed Itachi's silent determination, the sense of duty that already weighed heavily on his older brother's shoulders, even as a child. And whenever he saw his mother, Mikoto, he felt the warmth of her love and the strength of her spirit-both of which drove him forward.
The days turned to weeks, and slowly, Ryusuke began to make progress. His strength grew, his techniques sharpened, and he started to catch subtle nods of approval from Itachi and Shisui during training. But despite his growing skills, he couldn't shake the sense of urgency gnawing at him.
One evening, after a long day of training, he gazed out at the village lights below, feeling the weight of the mission he had set for himself. The events he dreaded were fast approaching, and every moment felt like a countdown. "I have to protect them," he whispered to himself, his resolve hardening like steel. "No matter what it takes, I won't let my clan fall into ruin."
And with that, Ryusuke made a silent vow: He would find a way to alter the course of fate and save his family, even if it meant facing Obito himself one day. Until then, he would do everything in his power to prepare, to become the guardian his clan needed.
