Chapter 224: Destroy The Cursed (41)
Clara herself rocketed forward, her thrusters igniting as she swung down with a pair of plasma blades.
Sparks flew as her strike clashed against one of the beast's armored legs. For a fleeting moment, she forced the massive limb back.
The Scorpion retaliated instantly. A blast of fire roared outward, forcing Clara to retreat as three bots were incinerated in the inferno. Ice shards followed, impaling another.
Then wind blades ripped through two more units, scattering their remains across the cavern floor. Lightning lashed again, frying a squadron midair in a storm of crackling death.
The battlefield was chaos—a storm of machines and elements colliding. Yet Clara refused to falter.
"All units, tighten formation! Focus fire on its joints and underbelly!" she commanded, her voice sharp and unwavering.
The remaining bots responded at once, shifting into a layered assault pattern. Energy shields overlapped to block the oncoming barrage of fire and ice, while the others concentrated plasma strikes at the monster's weaker spots.
The cavern blazed with explosions and elemental fury, the clash between machine and monster echoing like the wrath of gods.
And all the while, deeper within the cavern, Aiden and Quint's duel raged on, their battle shaking the earth as much as the Scorpion's rampage. Two wars, fought side by side—both carrying the weight of survival.
If before Aiden had doubted whether the Dark Emissary was truly a superhuman, now there was no longer any question.
The man standing before him radiated a strength that surpassed even the Prime Human Limit—a threshold Aiden himself had reached and broken past in fragments.
No wonder that first kick from Quint had nearly crushed him; this was not a foe to take lightly.
But even so, the battle was tilting.
It wasn't exactly a draw. The truth was that the Dark Emissary was on the defensive, forced to retreat and evade under the relentless ferocity of Aiden's offense.
With every passing second, Aiden's rhythm grew sharper, his strikes more vicious. His current Dark Essence Mode, already a force of destruction, was amplified by the boiling surge of Dawn Overflow Mode.
Every strike Aiden landed sent ripples of black energy tearing outward, the sheer force smashing into Quint's armored frame.
The Emissary's body shook with each blow; blood leaked through cracks in his armor as dark waves tore through him.
Then, with one particularly savage strike, Aiden's clawed hand cracked across Quint's head, slamming him into the cavern wall with bone-rattling force.
Aiden grinned, his chest heaving with exertion yet burning with savage joy. He was supposed to be weaker—just a stage beneath Quint in raw human limit—yet here he was, bullying the so-called Dark Emissary.
But that grin froze the moment he saw it.
Quint… stood up.
The deep wounds across his body began to seal shut, one after another, skin knitting back together as though time itself had rewound.
Blood vanished, bruises faded, and broken bones straightened beneath unyielding flesh. His breathing calmed, and soon he stood there as if Aiden had never touched him at all.
Aiden's eyes narrowed.
"...A restoration skill."
His jaw clenched, teeth grinding in frustration. It wasn't fair. The Emissary's first skill had already been broken enough, but this? This second one was absurd—almost a cheat code handed down by the universe itself.
A man who could restore himself no matter the wound. What kind of sick joke was that?
But Aiden's scowl twisted into a dangerous smile. His voice was cold, brimming with malice.
"Fine. Restore yourself as much as you want. I'll just keep ripping you apart… over and over… until you can't put yourself back together again."
He lunged forward with renewed violence, his movements erratic, unpredictable, and vicious.
Quint was powerful, yes—fast, skilled, with terrifying precision—but under the berserk assault of Aiden's clawed strikes, he was pushed onto his heels.
"Damn you!" Quint snarled, fury breaking through his calm facade. He thrust his fist forward, lightning exploding around his arm. The punch cracked the air itself, a spear of electricity roaring toward Aiden's face.
But Aiden's hand shot out like a viper. His claw closed around the lightning-wreathed fist, and before Quint could react, pain surged through his body. His nerves spasmed, leaving him momentarily paralyzed.
That was all Aiden needed.
With brutal speed, Aiden's knee shot upward, colliding with Quint's jaw. Bone cracked. A savage kick followed, smashing into his ribs, launching him sideways.
Then Aiden's claws spread wide, the darkness around his body thickening, coiling, and solidifying into a massive dark hand, dense enough to warp the air with its malice.
"Die!"
The claw surged forward, tearing through space itself as it descended toward Quint's skull.
At the last possible instant, Quint twisted, his head jerking to the side. The monstrous claw missed—but not harmlessly. Instead, it ripped straight through his arm.
Blood sprayed across the battlefield as Quint staggered back, gasping. His right arm, from the elbow down, was gone—reduced to a mangled stump.
He clutched the wound, glaring at Aiden with hateful eyes. His breath was ragged, but his voice was steady.
"I see now… We underestimated you heroes."
He spat blood, the fury in his gaze burning hotter than ever.
"Metallo… Freakeye… they must have done the same. Tell me…" His lips curled into a grim smile.
"Was it you? Were you the one who killed Metallo?"
