DxD: Monarch Of Seals In Multiversal Harem

Chapter 19: Chapter 19: The Weight of Example

"Aqua? So?"

My eyes widened when I noticed someone walking at the back of the campus. This was the person I needed to talk to.

Walking silently toward the person far away from me, Akane ends up following me from behind, causing us both to walk side by side toward that man.

"I just remembered, I'm also here to talk to Ruby's teacher about her sudden absence. By the way, since you're here with me... I apologize for not showing up at rehearsal today. Things got really busy, and getting here was also very complicated. I hope you're not upset with me for my mistake."

Akane ended up putting her hands behind her back while turning her head away from Aqua. She didn't know how to react and felt a bit guilty.

"It's okay, you don't have to justify yourself so much. I'm the one who should apologize for rushing you for an answer. I just don't want..." Akane's sentence was unfinished, but I could guess what she meant.

"Fail? I understand, and it's your dream to be an actress, getting a low grade is like tarnishing your future career as an artist... you have your goals and I have mine, sometimes they may diverge, but they remain the same." I explained this in detail while gesturing with my hands as I looked at her face.

Akane's head remained turned to the same place, unable to swallow the relief I was feeling. Did she expect me to feel angry? To demand an explanation? To lecture her about understanding the other person's side first? No... I didn't want any of that.

"If you're going to stay silent, I'll be frank... it's okay to get my attention, it's your job as a student to be the example that others should follow with punctuality. Besides being popular in our course, I can very well understand the weight you carry as a potential role model so that everyone can have the same inspiration as you in the future."

My arm rests on Akane's back, comforting her a little to see if she would turn her head towards me.

"Just stop feeling guilty, okay?" I finish with a few affectionate pats on her back, but Akane ends up removing my arm from her back and looks directly at me.

"You don't have to understand me, damn it, I have no right to come here and demand something from you suddenly without even knowing how you were feeling. DON'T TRY TO COMFORT ME FOR SOMETHING I'M ALREADY SURE I FAILED YOU AT." She rejects the support I gave her, reinforcing that she didn't need anyone else's understanding.

We remain silent for a moment, continuing to walk toward the teacher with our feelings completely hidden.

"The only thing I want is for everything to work out with you... I don't need anything else, okay?"

My mouth wouldn't open, so I nodded in agreement with her, and finally we reached the teacher, who was about to enter the teachers' building.

"Hi Sensei, how are you?"

He turned quickly and was surprised by my presence, offering his right hand to greet me and leaving his bag on a small bench next to the entrance to the building.

"Hello Aqua, do you want anything? I was just about to go into a meeting."

Shaking his hand in greeting, I ended up handing him a letter that Ruby had written.

[Letter: Hello Professor, unfortunately I couldn't attend today due to health problems, mainly psychological... only last night was I able to take a moment to rest and clear my head of all the work, not to mention the disappointment I ended up feeling after taking the tests to become a future Idol. If you need to revoke any of my grades due to my absence, that's fine... I can make up for it in another of your projects by giving it my best.]

"Apparently I gave it to the right person, his expression was one of understanding towards his student." I said to myself as I looked directly at his hands holding the letter.

"It's a relief to know that it was you and especially to have an answer about what happened to her, I had also forgotten to give you this."

The teacher, who was dressed in a gray suit and a sophisticated bowler hat, handed me a rolled-up piece of paper as he adjusted his glasses and crossed his arms.

"Ruby's grades are above the class average. When she starts this last semester in two months... she'll already be passing on our campus." He explained as he lightly brushed his suit to remove any dust from the fabric.

"I'm so proud of her... soon she'll be focusing more on her goal of becoming an idol, but I'll have to keep an eye on that if possible." He finished his mental conversation and I shook the teacher's hand to say goodbye.

"Thank you for your help, Sensei."

With a smile on his face, he nods and enters the building without saying anything, very satisfied that he at least understands Ruby's situation and feels a little sorry for her since she would have been accepted this coming semester.

"That's it, Akane, can we talk later?"

Her head turned toward me and she focused her eyes on mine, silently nodding in agreement.

"Sure, thanks for keeping me company until now... just don't try to understand me next time, okay?" Her gaze dropped again, but I took a loving action toward her.

My right hand rested on her head and I gave her hair a little stroke.

"Next step, meet with the bishop." My hand released her head and I walked towards the exit.
