Duel in a Sword & Magic World: Elf Girls Spirit Duelist

Chapter 26: DSMW [26]

"Enough talk, Kevin. Let's begin."

Kaima drew her Deck from the holster at her waist and loaded it into the Elves' Eyes.

"Huh? She doesn't keep her deck strapped to her thigh?"

Lately, it had become something of a trend among Fusion Academy's female students to give a fanservicey card-drawing moment by hiking up their skirts.

But clearly, Kaima Seth wasn't about to be lumped in with the rest.

Or more accurately, she fully embraced the role of being the Seth family's eldest "son".

"Brother… this time… this time!"

After a long build-up, Kevin finally summoned the courage to meet Kaima's cold gaze and declared:

"This time, I won't lose! Since coming to Fusion Academy, I've bet everything as a Duelist. I earned the Black Dragon's approval, kept a win rate higher than yours… everything I've done has been for this moment—to surpass you!"

"Hmph… Half a year in the academy and even my foolish little brother's grown a spine. Interesting. Come at me!"

[Kevin Seth, LP: 4000]

[Kaima Seth, LP: 4000]

"Duel!" ×2

Unlike the practical exams, official Duels followed stricter rules: both players start with 4000 Life Points and must have at least 40 cards in their Deck.

The Duel began. Kaima's Elves' Eyes lit up first—she had the first turn.

"Show me just how far you've come—what kind of growth made you so arrogant as to think you could beat me. I Summon in Attack Position—Alexandrite Dragon!"

[Alexandrite Dragon] Level 4│LIGHT│Dragon│2000 ATK

"ROAR!!!"

A rare gem-scaled dragon with glistening jadeite armor let out a furious cry as it soared into the air above the field.

The first summon of the first turn stunned the crowd—Kaima's dragon blaze was worthy of the strongest Duelist title.

"A Level 4 monster with 2000 ATK?!"

Most shocked of all were the first-years.

No Tribute was needed, and she summoned a 2000 ATK monster. That's 200 ATK higher than the strongest Level 4 monster Kevin had previously used—Dunames Dark Witch.

"So this is how second-years summon… Incredible!"

And that was the entire purpose of this inter-year Duel: to show first-years the next level of Duelist power.

Kaima's effortless first-turn summon was already beyond what most first-years could dream of achieving.

"I Set one card and end my turn."

She placed her remaining four cards face-down and ended her opening.

If it were an average first-year, they'd likely have already lost their will to fight—but Kevin Seth was officially the first-year elite No.1. And no one knew better than him just how immense the pressure would be when Dueling Kaima.

"I'm not the same as before. I'm staking all the effort I've made at this academy. My turn—Draw!"

The moment he drew, a black dragon's pressure howled from behind him—its massive aura dwarfing even Kaima's Alexandrite Dragon.

A familiar scene—this had happened during his Duel with Aisha.

He had drawn the legendary Red-Eyes Black Dragon.

Aisha muttered nervously, "Drawing Red-Eyes Black Dragon on turn one… Not sure if that's good or bad."

As a Level 7 monster, Red-Eyes required two Tributes—hardly feasible on the first turn.

But unless Kevin could deal with Kaima's 2000 ATK Alexandrite Dragon, he'd never be able to build the field needed for a Tribute Summon.

"I Summon in Attack Position—Dunames Dark Witch!"

[Dunames Dark Witch] Level 4│LIGHT│Warrior│1800 ATK

Summoning his own strongest Level 4 monster, a winged valkyrie with angelic grace manifested, squaring off in the sky against the jade-scaled dragon.

Irene said, "It's no good. Even Dunames Dark Witch has less ATK. Alexandrite Dragon still wins."

"So this is your so-called change? No wonder you got beaten by a dropout."

Kaima showed no mercy. Her mockery was brutal.

"You can't even control the power of your Black Dragon properly, and you think you'll surpass me? That's nothing but delusion, weakling."

"Damn, that's harsh. Never seen Kevin get roasted this badly."

Aisha shivered and let her imagination wander.

"If I had a sister like that… I don't even want to think about it. That'd be hell."

"Since you put it that way, then I'll show you how I do control it—the power of the legendary Black Dragon!"

Unwilling to be humiliated further, Kevin fired back, slamming a Spell Card onto the field.

"Spell Card—Ancient Rules, activate!"

[Special Summon 1 Level 5 or higher Normal Monster from your hand.]

Not a Tribute Summon—but a Special Summon.

Level 7 Red-Eyes Black Dragon qualified as a Normal Monster.

A scroll bearing a dragon seal unrolled, releasing ancient magic that solidified the translucent black aura into the physical form of the Red-Eyes Black Dragon.

"Black flame that scorches the heavens and earth—guide the descent of the legendary Black Dragon! Ancient Rules—Special Summon Red-Eyes Black Dragon!"

[Red-Eyes Black Dragon] Level 7│DARK│Dragon│2400 ATK

Unfurling massive black wings that blotted out the sky, Red-Eyes hovered above Alexandrite Dragon and Dunames Dark Witch.

This time, it wasn't someone else—it was Kevin himself who summoned his dragon.

After the Duel with Aisha, he realized his Deck needed to be better built for summoning Red-Eyes—so he added the B-rank Spell Ancient Rules.

As a fellow Dragon, the Level 7 Red-Eyes easily overpowered the Level 4 Alexandrite Dragon.

"Destroy their monster—Red-Eyes Black Dragon! Inferno Fire Blast!"

Black flames erupted, obliterating everything in sight. The 2000 ATK Alexandrite Dragon had no chance—it was instantly incinerated.

[Kaima Seth, LP: 4000 → 3600]

"Now—direct attack with Dunames Dark Witch!—Judgment Slash!"

Kevin roared as he pressed the advantage. The Valkyrie's sacred blade slashed directly at Kaima's chest—far more formidable in size than Aisha's.
