Dreamland: Freedom (Terror Infinity, Ultimate Evolution)

Chapter 48: Intermission II: Part 1

Eden appeared in his room, and ignored the many notifications assaulting him as he commanded to be healed.

Although Eden was unable to give a verbal command, a beam of light surrounded him all the same.

The pain was instantly replaced by a soothing sensation, and his body rejuvenated at a rapid speed. Half a minute later, the beam disappeared, and Eden felt better than he ever had.

Twisting his body to look into his mirror, Eden tore the ruined clothes off his back, and grinned at his reflection.

His skin was spotless, his face with not a single blemish, and both arms raised. His dark hair fell over the sides of his face, his face having regained its symmetry.

Taking a deep breath, Eden enjoyed the feeling of working lungs for the first time in his life. It was like when you had a cold and a stuffed nose: only after such an experience would one learn to truly appreciate something as simple as an unstuck nose.

Breathing out, Eden also noticed his figure had filled out with some muscle, his skinny body turned athletic.

Running both hands through his hair, Eden finally looked at the notifications he had dismissed.

[Main Mission (Famous Pirate) Completed!]

[Mission Content: Earn as much reputation as a pirate.]

[Calculating rewards based on milestones, side missions and bonus objectives…]

[Rewards: 20 000 Dream Points, +5 to all attributes, VIP Pass, Title 'Omen of Death'.]

[Rejuvenation: 4200 Dream Points]

[As a Tier I Player, your next mission will be in one month.]

Eden wait for a second, half-expecting Operator 666 to show up, but seeing he did not, Eden sighed contently.

His reward for completing 'An Ominous Call' had been disappointing, to say the least, but the effect it had on the main mission more than made up for it.

After all, how could it not have had an influence? He had led to the death of thousands of pirates and soldiers, probably including Pirate Lords and high officers, as well as that of the legendary Kraken's. Moreover, although he and the other Players had left at the end of the mission, Mictlantecuhtli was still at large. He certainly would continue to lay havoc to that world.

This reminded Eden of something, and he glanced at his friend list. Drakon was still there, meaning he had managed to survive the battle. Good for him.

Just the Dream Points and attribute points he had gotten allowed him to land on his feet, and if his Title was anything like Monster Hunter, it was more than worth it.

[Omen of Death: You have sent countless lives to the afterlife, and reality shudders in your presence. Upon activation, frightens all living beings in proximity. Grows with the number of lives taken.]

Eden tried to activate it and deactivate it, but curiously, did not feel any difference. It sounded strong though, and was quite unique too since it could grow. It seemed quite different from Monster Hunter too, though he would have to see in his next mission if he would gain a new reputation.

Then, there was the reward that seemed to be out of place. A VIP Pass.

[VIP Pass: Use to select your next mission world. May choose the time and place of appearance.]

Eden had to read that twice to confirm he had not misread.

Honestly, Eden could have only gotten it as his reward and he would not have raised a single complaint, because of how mind blowing this item was.

Some worlds were naturally more suited to certain Players than others. For example, as a magician, if Eden was sent to a world where the NPCs actively hunted all practitioners of magic for some reason, he would be forced to not use his greatest strength. Moreover, items that would suit a mage would be much scarcer.

But a world where magic thrived would allow Eden to play on his greatest strengths, and would be filled with items which would suit him.

He was already starting to get ideas, but this was a decision he best sleep on.

Eden was still not done with his rewards, however. Before anything though, Eden put on some new clothes on, throwing away the dirty ones he had.

Then, Eden took out Henry Morgan's corpse out of his inventory.

Morgan's body slammed to the ground, his face frozen to one of disbelief and pain ad vitam aeternam. Eden carefully took his equipment off of him. There was a piece of armor and a cape.

[Umbra Velum]

[Rank: Rare]

[Defence: +30]

[All Attributes: +1]

[Ravenwing: Makes the wearer faster.]

[Shadowborn: Shadows constantly weave around the wearer, making it harder to spot them.]

This was an excellent piece of equipment, and quite a special one as its defence had a plus sign in front of it. Most pieces of armor had a fixed defence value with no signs in front of it, meaning that it only applied to a certain area.

After all, one could have a godly armor, if the opponent's weapon struck an unprotected area, what good would it do?

This cape solved that problem, as instead of protecting a particular area, it extended it to his whole body. This had to be a magical property.

Of course, all things had to be balanced, which in this case was seen through the value itself. Eden's Rosa Estrellada had an attack value of 175, the Hellsteel Greatsword had 190, and Sasquatch's Hammer 250.

Shadowveil had a similar rank, but only added 30.

Overall, it was an excellent piece of equipment, one that matched well with the second one.

[Umbra Aegis]

[Rank: Super Rare]

[Defence: 120]

[Agility: +4]

[Strength: +2]

[Physique: +2]

[Elusive Shadows: The shadows are always by the wearer's side, making it harder to lock on them.]

[Shadowfit: This armor has been enchanted to adjust itself to its wearer.]

This was Eden's first item of the Super Rare rank, and it absolutely did not disappoint. Its defence value was higher than all weapons he had seen, it added a lot of attributes, and its first passive skill would come in handy during the mission.

Morgan had been unlucky to be facing him because one of the more inconspicuous effects of his Talent was to make him extremely precise, and had thus ignored it.

Even the last effect was not so bad, as it saved him the Dream Points he would have had to use to make it his size. Of course, it served Morgan far more, since he would alter his body with the use of his potions.

Finally, Eden ended with the least exciting part of his rewards, and that was the Players Caches he had gotten. Opening them all, Eden only got 1203 Dream Points, a bunch of Common equipment he would not be able to sell, and 20 sniper rifle bullets.

With all his rewards processed, Eden strapped the armor to his chest, attached the cape to his shoulder pads, grabbed the Rosa Estrellada in his right hand, held the Necronomicon in his left, and took a look at his status.

[Name: Ozymandias]

[Title: Monster Hunter II, Omen of Death]

[Talent: Soul Overlord]

[Perks: Tier I, Spirit Flame I, Will of Steel I, STD Free]

[HP: 240/240]

[MP: 684/684]

[Strength: 19 (24)]

[Agility: 20 (29)]

[Physique: 21 (24)]

[Intelligence: 34 (38)]

[Wisdom: 33 (36)]

[Skills: Analyze (Support), Demon Claw (1st Circle), Dark Pool (1st Circle), Evil Possession (1st Circle), Strengthened Fireball (2nd Circle), Dark Vision (2nd Circle), Mists of the Underworld (3rd Circle), Undead Servant (3rd Circle)]

[Currency: 28795 Dream Points]

His attributes were magnificent, and had almost all reached the threshold of Tier I, with only his Strength remaining at the peak of Tier 0, though his equipment pushed even that to Tier I territory.

However, it also confirmed a concern Eden had had, which was related to his Perks.

Operator 666 had hinted at it, and indeed, he would not just earn a Perk the moment his perks passed the threshold of 20. Instead, it seemed that they could only be gained during the initial breakthrough to the superior Tier.

Of course, in the end, that benefited Eden more than anything, since everyone was bound by those rules, and Eden had managed to earn Perks for two of his attributes, Intelligence and Wisdom, while most other Player probably only had a single one.

Closing his status, Eden once more looked at his reflection in the mirror, and idly wondered how much easier everything would have been, had he been in his current state at the beginning.

Obviously that could have never happened, he doubted he would have been even sent to a world like Pirates of the Caribbean.

His curiosity and ego both satisfied, Eden put away his weapons, took back Morgan's body, and stepped out of his room.
