Boom!!!

Chief Jacob, together with everyone else in the house were all shook awake by the sound of a loud explosion. Erica quickly got up and peered out the window to see what the commotion was about. From where she was, all she could see was Kalius struggling to get up from the ground.

“What!?” her eyes widened in shock before she ran out of the room in her night dress.

Kalius got up rubbing a bit of blood from his lip as he growled furiously. In front of him was a cloud of dust, that used to be the wall of Blaze’s room before it was destroyed the moment, he got sent flying by the boy.

Kalius got his sword up from the ground and stood at the ready, as the boy slowly walked out from the cloud of dust. Kalius' eyes widened as the dust cleared revealing Blaze with his entire body covered in flames.

“Don’t get cocky!” Kalius shouted, preparing to charge at Blaze. But before he could move, Blaze used the flames to propel himself forward. In an instant, he was right in front of Kalius, his flaming right arm drawn back, ready to deliver a powerful punch.

Too fast! Kalius flinched as flames erupted straight towards him. The blow would have been another fatal one if it hadn’t been stopped however.

Blaze clicked his tongue as his eyes met with Erica’s, hist fiery punch having collided with the shaft of the metal spear surging with lightning.

Erica groaned a bit as she was pushed slightly aback by the impact of Blaze’s attack.

“Lady Erica?” Kalius said surprised standing behind the girl.

“What is going on?!” Jacob roared as he, Milka, and Anna got out too. They were all shocked as they witnessed what was going on; Blaze, covered head to toe in flames with his fist at Erica’s spear who held it out in front of her with all her strength attempting to block Blaze and Kalius behind her already beaten up a bit.

The chief gasped, “Blaze! Stop this immediately!”

“No need,” Erica said with a stern expression. “Blaze Fellis, for defying the King’s command and laying hands upon a member of the Royal Army, you are to be detained and brought before the court!”

“You sure you can hold me,” Blaze said, taunting her and adding up to her anger.

“Try me,” Erica said glaring at him.

Blaze then immediately opened his fist and grabbed her spear before throwing a kick at her. Erica however was too nimble. She slid down, pulling her spear with her before turning back, and lashing it at Blaze. As his kick missed, Blaze quickly turned and blocked the spear’s shaft with his hand. Normally that would have been impossible for a person without getting hurt but as Erica had started to theorize, the flames around Blaze weren’t only for show. They worked to amplify his speed, strength, and endurance to physical attack greatly and so she quickly moved back widening the distance between the two before she held up her hand.

[Thunder Fall!]

She cast, forming a blue magic circle in the sky above Blaze. Bolts of lightning roared down from the circle, striking the boy with electrifying force.

“Big brother!”

“Blaze!”

Anna and Milka gasped, while Jacob’s eyes widened in shock as Blaze dropped to his knees, his body steaming and crackling with the remnants of the lightning strike.

“Don’t worry, I adjust the strength of my attack to make sure it doesn’t harm him as much. That was just a bit of a tap,” Erica said with a smug grin as she twirled her spear before pointing it toward Blaze.

“You’re powerful, I give you that,” She said now with a serious gaze, “But know your place.”

Blaze growled at the girl with fury burning in his eyes. He was trying desperately to move and attack, but he couldn’t.

“Don’t bother, you’re under my spell’s paralysis effect. Moving won’t be an option for a while.” Erica explained before turning to Kalius, “Are you, alright Kalius?”

Kalius looked enraged, so much so that he didn’t seem it important to give Erica a reply, and instead walked straight toward Blaze.

“Um…major?” Erica called out trying to hold his shoulder.

“Don’t get in my way!” he barked, exploding into a red aura. This time, however, it was different. His aura took on a more sinister quality, with dark streaks of black weaving through the crimson glow.

“What the…?” Erica’s eyes widened shocked.

Suddenly, a glowing black magic circle appeared in the sky. It was so big that it covered his entire village in the instant it appeared.

“I knew it,” Blaze growled, “So I guess that dark magic was too much for you to handle,” Blaze clicked his tongue as Kalius stood in front of him. His eyes now glowing red, his breathe getting heavy as he looked down at him.

“Die, you brat!” Kalius screamed as he raised his sword.

“Major!” Erica yelled as she bolted in front of Blaze holding out her spear, and blocking the sword as soon as it fell, “What are you doing? Stand down, this is an order!”

Kalius didn’t listen, or rather, he couldn’t hear her at all. Looking at his red eyes Erica knew something was wrong, it was like the major general had lost control of his own body, but why and how?

“Your friend is under the influence of a dark magic spell. I presume it was initially placed on him to enhance his power.”

“What!” Erica turned to Blaze shocked, “How do you know… ngh!”

Erica quickly turned her attention back to Kalius, his strength seemed to be increasing by the second, and she was slowly losing her guard on the sword.

“Release me from your spell, you can’t handle him alone,” Blaze said, earnestly looking at Erica.

“Yes, I can!” she declared, her body surging with lightning. She pulled back her right leg, driving her weight upward to push Kalius back despite his formidable build and strength. As he staggered, Erica whirled her spear and leaped forward, striking him with the hilt of the weapon. The force combined with the lightning sent Kalius flying, crashing to the ground. As he fell, Erica raised her free left hand into the air.
