NOVEL WEB Chapter 65: Upgrade [1]
Drahon had expected this system upgrade to happen immediately the words appeared across his vision.
But then, it didn't.
He was surprised at first, thinking something was wrong when he saw the words:
[You can start the upgrade anytime you want.]
Drahon quickly understood. He could activate the upgrade at any given time.
But why didn't the system just activate it, why say he does it.
It was then it struck him.
He stared at Devon and Ayvira and wondered that them seeing him upgrade might cause jealously of some sort?
He was sure they didn't know the mythical dragon egg was to give him an upgrade.
"This certainly isn't fictional," Ayvira said, interrupting his thoughts. "The Dragon world existed way long before it became a game world so it's certain the white primordial dragon story happened back then."
Devon nodded.
"That is it," he said. "Pretty weird story though."
"Exactly" Ayvira said. "Sounded like the dragon was some sort of human."
A long silence then, Drahon asked:
"So what do we do now?"
"We rest," he replied, looking at a small opening which showed the outside world.
"It's night already. I mean, not entirely but the sky is starting to turn grey, which from there, it'll turn black.
"Good idea," Ayvira said. "If we step out of here at this time, I'm not sure we'll find shelter."
"Then we rest," Drahon said, yawning. "Tired as fuck!"
They didn't say much after agreeing to rest.
The tower's upper level wasn't furnished, but it was dry, and the heavy stone walls kept out most of the chill. They wandered into a half-collapsed room, the largest they could find, its ceiling cracked but still intact enough to keep the wind from howling through.
Drahon swept aside a patch of dust with his boot, clearing a corner near the wall. Ayvira settled near him without a word, curling up with her back against one of the old stone pillars. Devon chose a spot farther off, resting against a broken section of the wall with his arms folded, chin tucked down.
"Not the most convenient but…, at least where not dead," Drahon added after they were all on layed on the ground.
No one replied at first at first until after some seconds when Ayvira said:
"Yeah I guess."
"Life's hard," Devon blurted.
No fire was made. Ayvira had conjured a glowing orb. And so, the glow from the sunflower orb dimmed gently on its own, settling into a soft warmth that filled the space with just enough light to see. The silence that followed wasn't heavy or awkward, it was deserved. They were too tired to start any mid night conversation or even bid themselves good night.
[Saying Goodnight was cringe]
Silence wrapped around them like a blanket and within minutes, the sound of steady breathing filled the room.
Drahon didn't sleep though. His eyes were closed at first,his body still, but his mind remained alert. A quiet pressure tugged at the back of his thoughts, a soft reminder that hadn't gone away since he bond-kept with the Golden mythical dragon egg.
Then, across his vision, golden runes silently shimmered into existence, and only visible to him.
It came with no voice, just the words, still and patient?:

Drahon stared at the runes in surprise. Seemed the system really wanted him to receive the upgrade.
