Dragon Ball: The Strongest Training

Chapter 20: Cultivating Senzu Beans

The newly created space was truly unique. The energy it absorbed wasn't the kind generated during battles but rather something akin to "primal energy"—a type of life energy. This energy was distinct and rare. Although it existed freely in the universe, it couldn't be directly utilized or absorbed by individuals. Instead, it could only be naturally found in specific places like the Destroyer Gods' Realm, the Supreme Kai's Realm, and the depths of the afterlife's Yellow Springs.

Now, this energy was being gradually drawn into the space, albeit in small amounts. Krillin could clearly feel the life energy within the space becoming more abundant. Over time, these small accumulations would eventually fill the entire space.

The "Senzu Bean Plantation" wasn't very large—just two square meters in size. It was clear that Earth's Shenron had some limitations. While Krillin knew he'd eventually need to improve this space, such plans would have to wait.

Two square meters might not sound like much, but it was enough to cultivate four senzu bean plants. Unlike annual crops, senzu beans grew on perennial plants similar to apple trees, which produced beans yearly. With just one plant, Korin could harvest over 100 senzu beans annually. With four plants, Krillin estimated an annual yield of around 500 beans. Of course, he'd need Korin's guidance on properly cultivating the plants.

Lunch at Goku's Home

"Krillin, come on! It's time to eat!" Goku called from outside.

"Coming!" Krillin replied, stepping out of the space.

With Chi-Chi pregnant and unable to cook, Krillin naturally took over as the household's head chef.

"Wow, Krillin, this is amazing!" Goku said, his words barely comprehensible as he stuffed his mouth full of food.

"Haha, want me to teach you?"

After the meal, Krillin bid farewell to Goku and Chi-Chi. "Goku, I'm heading off. And remember—help out around the house!" Krillin waved goodbye as he soared into the sky.

Before leaving, Krillin gave Goku a lengthy lecture on family duties—summarized as "How to Be a Good Husband 101."

Watching Krillin fly off, Goku scratched his head and muttered, "Krillin sure talks a lot. Maybe that's how he got so strong!" His eyes lit up as if he'd discovered a new secret to power.

Journey to Korin Tower

Flying toward Korin Tower, Krillin smiled wryly as he recalled his advice to Goku. "The guy's married and about to be a father, while I'm still single… Looks like I'm the one who needs help."

Now that he had a senzu bean plantation, it was time to ask Korin about the cultivation process. With this thought, Krillin picked up speed.

At his current flying pace, Krillin's travel could be described as "morning in the North Sea, evening in Cangwu." In just a few moments, he arrived at Korin Tower.

Fanny's Training

Krillin saw Korin deftly dodging as a young man attacked him relentlessly, trying to grab the sacred water flask attached to Korin's staff. Though the boy's efforts were commendable, Korin's swift movements always put him one step ahead.

The young man was none other than Krillin's first disciple, Fanny.

Observing from the side, Krillin noticed that Fanny was close to mastering the necessary skills. He whispered softly, "Step three to the right."

Hearing his master's voice, Fanny didn't hesitate. He turned sharply to his right and took three steps forward. As expected, Korin moved directly into his path and fell into his grasp.

"Ha! Got it!" Fanny shouted excitedly.

Korin sighed heavily. "Kids these days are getting way too good. At this rate, how can I keep my dignity as a master?" He muttered his complaint but still smiled as he wiped away some sweat.

Seeing Krillin, Korin quickly approached and bowed deeply. "Master Krillin, why are you here?"

Krillin smiled approvingly at Fanny. His disciple's power level had already reached 85—a testament to his hard work.

"Not bad," Krillin said, encouraging him. "Keep it up."

Fanny beamed with pride. Nothing made him happier than praise from his revered master.

Turning to Korin, Krillin greeted him warmly. "Korin, it looks like you've been living well."

Korin chuckled. "With fresh fish every day, life couldn't be better!" For Korin, happiness was simple: fish, naps, and peace.

Learning to Cultivate Senzu Beans

"I came to ask you about senzu beans," Krillin said. "I want to start growing them myself. Lately, I've been in a lot of battles, and my supply is running low."

"Already? You had 3,000 beans!" Korin exclaimed in disbelief.

Krillin scratched his head and laughed, saying nothing.

"Senzu beans need a very specific environment to grow," Korin explained. "Ordinary places won't do."

"I know," Krillin replied. "That's why I asked Shenron to create a suitable space. Now, I just need you to teach me how to cultivate them."

"So, it was you who summoned Shenron yesterday," Korin said, a bit surprised. But he quickly nodded. "Alright, follow me."

Korin led Krillin deeper into the tower. Along the way, he shared the beans' history.

"The first Earth Guardian discovered senzu beans in a place filled with divine energy. The Guardian transplanted them here and realized they thrived at Korin Tower but struggled elsewhere. He theorized that the tower's unique energy was the key to their growth. And so, the beans have remained here ever since."

Krillin nodded. That energy must be life essence, he thought.

Soon, they arrived at a large jar filled with lush, green senzu bean plants, emanating vitality. The jar itself looked ancient, and Krillin felt something unusual about it.

"This jar supposedly connects to the divine realms," Korin said. "That's why the senzu beans can grow here."

"How many plants can I take?" Krillin asked.

"You'll need to cut rootlets from the main plant. Four should be fine," Korin said, carefully clipping four small sections of roots and handing them to Krillin. "Be careful when planting these. It'll take six months for them to mature."

Krillin thanked Korin and couldn't help but notice the slight look of pain on his face. "You're really something, Korin," he thought with a smile.
