Dragon Ball: Reborn as King Cold

Chapter 2: Chap2: A Simple Test

I set the course for a planet under the control of the Galactic Empire, Planet Beppa, now known as Cooler No.256.

The ship's systems immediately came to life, the thrusters humming as they prepared for the journey. A moment later, the gravitational stabilizers engaged, and the ship smoothly lifted off the ground. Through the viewport, I watched as the icy landscape of my homeworld shrank beneath me, the frozen peaks and raging blizzards fading away as I ascended into the dark void of space.

And then, just like that, I was among the stars.

The vastness of the universe stretched out before me, an infinite abyss of swirling galaxies, distant nebulae. No atmosphere, no sound, just the eerie, silence of the cosmos.

Back when I was human, space had always fascinated me, but I had only ever seen it through the limited perspective of Earth's science fiction and telescopes. Now, I was inside it, moving through it.

For a moment, I simply stared.

Then, a smirk played at my lips.

With a flick of my wrist, I engaged the hyperdrive. The engines roared to life, in streaks of blue and white light as I plunged into faster-than-light travel.

My destination, Cooler No.256, was a planet deep within the North Galaxy, firmly under the grasp of the empire. I wasn't going there to inspect my son's rule. No, this was something far simpler.

I needed a battlefield.

The memories of King Cold were vivid, detailed, and precise. I knew exactly how strong I was supposed to be. I knew the techniques, the power, the aura of dominance that came with this body.

But I hadn't felt it yet.

I refused to merely sat on a throne, relying on old knowledge and assumed superiority. True power wasn't just in the mind, it was in the flesh. The weight of a punch, the raw surge of ki flowing through my veins, the pressure of a true battle… those were things that couldn't be understood through memories alone.

And yet, as I sat in the captain's seat, watching the swirling colors of hyperspace, I felt something unsettling creeping into my thoughts.

This eagerness… this hunger.

Back when I was human, I would have hesitated before seeking out a fight. I would have weighed my options, considered the risks. But now? It felt so… natural. Like an instinct, as if proving that I am above wasn't just a choice but was a necessity.

Was this my own ambition?

Had the memories of King Cold begun shaping my mind?

I clenched my fist, feeling my bio-armor flex over my knuckles. Maybe it didn't matter. Whether this desire came from the old me or the new one, one thing was certain, we are one now.

I was going to test my strength.

The ship's hyperdrive disengaged, and with a deep hum, I was pulled back into real space. The swirling streaks of light collapsed into distant stars, and before me, the vast planetary mass of Cooler No.256 came into full view.

At first glance, the planet looked almost Earth-like, with recognizable continents and oceans. But as I descended closer, the true nature of this world became clear.

This was no paradise.

The continents of Cooler No.256 were surrounded not by water, but by rivers of molten lava, glowing like veins of fire across the planet's surface.

My ship pierced through the outer layers of the atmosphere, and almost instantly, the hull's temperature sensors spiked. Flames licked the sides of my vessel as I plummeted through the dense, scorching air. If I had been a lesser being, I would have worried about my ship burning up on entry.

But I was me.

The moment I broke through the cloud layers, I saw them, the inhabitants of Cooler No.256.

They were a towering human like species but green, their bodies hardened. Their skin was thick and reinforced, a natural armor evolved to withstand the extreme temperatures of their world. Some stood nearly twice the height of an average humanoid.

The ship's systems alerted me of military outposts scattered across the planet's surface. No doubt established by Cooler's forces to maintain control over the native population.

With a flick of my wrist, I deactivated the autopilot, gripping the controls myself as I guided the ship toward a desolate volcanic plateau, far from the outposts. If I was going to fight, I wanted no interruptions.

A smirk crept onto my face as I tightened my grip.

'Let's see what this body can really do.'

"I've always wanted to do this" I muttered to myself, a smirk creeping onto my lips.

The thrill of power surged through me, an intoxicating sensation that I had only dreamed of before.

Raising one hand, I extended a single finger toward the distant village nestled between the volcanic ridges. Even from here, I could see the crude structures built from reinforced stone, the faint silhouettes of the inhabitants moving about their daily lives, completely unaware of the fate about to descend upon them.

I focused.

A subtle hum vibrated through my body as I gathered Ki at the tip of my finger. At first, it was nothing more than a flicker, a pinprick of raw energy, glowing with an eerie violet hue.

The power felt natural, effortless.

The memories of King Cold told me I had done this before, countless times, across countless worlds. Erasing civilizations was as simple as breathing. And yet, this was my first time.

My smirk widened.

I unleashed the blast.

A thin beam of concentrated energy shot from my fingertip, moving so fast that the distance between me and the village was meaningless. It sliced through the air, leaving behind a faint trail of violet light.

And then, impact.

For a split second, there was silence.

Then, a brilliant explosion erupted, engulfing the village in a massive inferno. The shockwave ripped through the surrounding area, sending clouds of ash and molten debris flying into the air. Structures crumbled instantly, reduced to nothing but glowing embers.

A surge of satisfaction ran through me as I watched the destruction unfold.

I clenched and unclenched my hand, feeling the residual energy still tingling through my fingertips.

Memories were one thing.

But experiencing this firsthand… was exhilarating.
