Chapter 24: 24: Flesh vs Mech.
Goku and Chi-Chi ran straight to the place where the Air Fortress slowly seemed to want to land, while Bulma noticed something strange in Yamcha's heart.
"Hey, do you know what's on your chest?" Bulma asked suddenly, leaving the reanimated Yamcha at a loss for an answer.
"Uh... he he..." Yamcha was completely stunned when he realized what was standing next to him, a beautiful woman.
His mixture of embarrassment and fear prevented him from even stringing together a coherent response, so Bulma turned her eyes to Puar, who was hovering over Yamcha's shoulder, looking directly at the blue-haired girl.
"Thank you for saving Yamcha!" Puar curtsied, but it was this gesture that allowed it to see the frightened Oolong standing next to Bulma.
"It's you, pervert Oolong! Miss, stay away from it! It's a first-class pervert, it wants to steal your panties! They say, they say it was expelled from school because it stole everyone's panties," Puar started to point at Oolong as it stood protectively in front of Bulma, making her laugh.
"Damn you, Puar! You're exaggerating, I didn't do anything like that. It was a joke! Nothing as bizarre as stealing everyone's panties. And why would I want the panties of a young girl like her? Can't I buy whatever I want from the vending machines?" asked Oolong, causing the others, including the stunned Yamcha, to give it a strange look.
"Hey, they're cheap, it's consensual, and they're clean, notarized that they're MILF panties, no weird stuff," Oolong said indignantly, even pulling several receipts out of its pocket and offering them to Bulma, but she didn't want to touch it, even felt she should wash her hands for having had close contact with the pig boy.
But from what Bulma could read, Oolong was right, so she just shook her shoulders while she concentrated on the foreign body in Yamcha's heart, she didn't know what it was but she had a very bad feeling.
"Puar, right? Do you know what Yamcha has in his heart? Is it a pacemaker or something?" asked Bulma, attracting the attention of the small flying animal, which fluttered suspiciously around Yamcha before shaking its head.
"Yamcha's not heart-sick enough to need a pacemaker, so I can't answer that," Puar's big ears drooped, and Bulma wondered if she could get a DNA sample from the little creature.
Was it a cat, or a rabbit? No, it was probably an animal person, but what kind of animal? Another mystery of this world she would like to explore another time. Bulma thought about how to get rid of the strange device in Yamcha's heart and an idea came to her.
"Puar, since your friend seems to have a half-melted brain because of my presence, will you permit me to try to remove the possible danger in his heart? I promise he'll be safe," Bulma's words made Puar smile broadly before he nodded quickly.
"Please help Yamcha! If you do, I'll get you some honey, I know where to find the best honey in the world," Puar touched its chest to reassure him.
"Believe me, Puar knows how to pick the best honey from any area," Oolong added, drooling at the memory of enjoying such a sweet delicacy in the past.
"Well, but don't be alarmed, Puar," Bulma narrowed her eyes and a monstrous aura erupted from her body.
Puar and Oolong, who were near the young girl, felt the true meaning of terror as they were exposed to Bulma's enormous presence. It was as if a superior being was looking down upon the weak mortals, and though it was only for a moment, the valley was immediately filled with various plants, and even a pure spring sprang up directly from the ground.
Bulma had only slightly replicated what Goku was capable of but in her style. This allowed her to perform a feat that might be considered impossible. In her hand was a small cylindrical device with an LED light, but there was also blood on her palm.
"You hurt Yamcha!" when Puar saw the blood on Yamcha's hand, it became worried and approached its friend, but only saw that the clothes on the young man's back were torn and that there was no wound on his flesh.
"I did something super complicated and my head hurts, keep your voice down," Bulma said in a bad tone, grabbing the bridge of her nose with her free hand while visually examining the object in her hand.
"A bomb, and a powerful one at that," Bulma said before she squeezed the bomb in her hand, shattering it into pieces.
There was no danger of it exploding or anything, advanced devices could be very useful and powerful, but they were also very safe. The downside was that they could be damaged very easily if you knew how to manipulate them, something Bulma was more than capable of.
"Bomb!" Oolong and Puar shouted in alarm, but they only watched as Bulma dropped the debris to the ground before stepping on it.
"Don't worry, it's fixed. But I told them to stop yelling," Bulma complained again about the loud noise, what she had done no doubt consumed a lot of her mental energy.
'But it's doable, good thing Yamcha appreciated when I needed realistic test dummies,' Bulma thought as she subtly wiped off the blood with Yamcha's clothes before crouching down next to the newly emerged spring, wanting to wash her hands thoroughly.
The sound of an explosion in the distance reached them along with a shockwave that finally brought Yamcha out of his stupor, or maybe it was because Bulma was farther away from him.
Either way, the exhausted young man looked off into the distance, where his budding sense of Ki could pick up how many lives were disappearing and how the now familiar trail of Goku was becoming more and more active.
"Do you want to go see?" asked Bulma, keeping her distance from the boy with a fear of women, and though stiff, Yamcha managed to nod.
"Fine, I'll go first, bring Oolong with you, I don't want to touch him," Bulma said with a hint of disgust before simply disappearing from Yamcha's horrified eyes.
Even though he was tired, his experience was still there and Bulma simply disappeared in front of him. Without disturbing the wind, stirring the dust, or shaking the branches of the newly grown trees and plants, Bulma simply vanished in front of his eyes.
"Women are scary," Yamcha said with beads of sweat on his forehead, but Oolong clicked its tongue and shook its head next to him.
"No, my dear friend. Women are not scary, that blue-haired girl is the scary one. And her black-haired friend, they're monsters, don't get too close," Oolong advised as it patted Yamcha's leg, its small size only allowing it to repeat the shoulder patting gesture on this limb.
"Yamcha, do you want to watch the fight?" Puar asked curiously and Yamcha nodded quickly.
How could he miss such a fight? He wanted to see what additional tricks Goku had, and he also wanted to see what he could decipher from them to incorporate into his techniques, which were in dire need of a good polish.
"This... Will you take me?" Oolong asked quietly, and Yamcha nodded, taking the pig off its neck and placing Puar on his shoulder before using the little amount of Ki he had regained to accelerate his movement in the direction of the noisy battle.
The battle had entered its intense phase from the moment the air fortress had fallen, as hundreds of humans, animal humans, and even some actual animals emerged from the large machine with advanced weaponry.
Each seemed to be wearing standard servo armor and a power sword that emitted an attractive but deadly blue glow. They all surrounded Emperor Pilaf, who was riding a large machine that looked like a giant blue insect.
Pilaf, who was inside and piloting the machine, quickly spotted two small targets coming at him at high speed, and without wasting any time, he activated the guns coming from his machine.
The giant robot's hands stretched out and two thin cylinders with holes in them began to fire bullets at high speed. Both Goku and Chi-Chi were able to dodge these projectiles, but the Emperor never intended to hit them.
His men followed his intentions, moving quickly over the terrain, aided by the servo armor that gave them more power. Their swords were menacing, but not as menacing as the pair Yamcha had wanted to use.
Still, they were something best avoided, so Chi-Chi was more cautious this time. Although these enemies were much weaker than the previous bio-warriors, they were much more numerous and organized, so acting freely as before was not an option.
While Chi-Chi dealt with her enemies, Goku sliced through the crowd of men trying to hit him with ease, using his magic staff masterfully, breaking bones and skulls as if the protection of the servo armor was not there.
"I never expected you to have such high brute strength," Pilaf clicked his tongue as he activated the turbines on the back of his giant robot, propelling himself straight at Goku.
Pilaf trusted his machine, and it easily knocked out Yamcha, even allowing him to play with the martial artist's body a bit. While he didn't find any mutations or anything interesting except that Yamcha's body density was higher, he left him a gift inside.
However, if he looked at the records, he would notice that the bomb signal he had placed in Yamcha's heart, just in case an unpleasant scenario happened to him, was gone.
Goku's red staff extended and then fell violently on the mechanical body, but Pilaf's machine was superior to the scrap metal his men wore, resisting such an attack with only a peel of paint and nothing more.
The robot's hand turned into a fist, and a turbine at the elbow accelerated the attack, driving it even harder at Goku. Our beloved Saiyan smiled at this and he also struck forward hard.
There was a horrible hollow sound, the wind blew as the fists, a huge one made of metal and a small one made of flesh, collided. Pilaf controlled his machine to deliver a kick, but Goku jumped and spun in the air before hurling a ball of yellow ki directly at the center of the robot, where he sensed Pilaf was.
A burst of energy shook the machine as the shockwaves spread farther than they could have imagined. Chi-Chi used the imbalance of her enemies to use her ki sword and hit some of them in the neck, only to step aside as they recovered.
"Useless! Useless! Useless! Useless! I, Emperor Pilaf, have the best technology in the world!" a high voice came from the machine, which was relatively intact when it rejoined.
Goku shook his shoulders and wiped his nose, his brown tail slowly wagging in excitement. He wanted to retort, but he knew it might not be a good idea to shout Bulma's name at his enemy, so he held himself back.
Goku then felt Bulma's ki near him and smiled, knowing that his older sister was watching him fight. No doubt wanting to enjoy the moment, he assumed a very familiar fighting pose before speaking.
"You have a squeaky voice," Goku said, causing Pilaf to freeze for a moment before shakily touching an area of his control panel covered by a piece of glass.
Beneath it was a red button with a white caravel on it. Without hesitation, Pilaf lifted the glass cover and pressed the button. His robot then emitted white steam and turned crimson.
The air around him was distorted, the heat from the machine had directly affected the world around him. Pilaf was angry, very angry.
Most of the time he controlled and restrained his wild and immature temper, but how could he stand to have one of his sore spots mentioned?
"You're the one with the shrill voice! Hyper mode activated!" the Emperor's squeaky voice echoed throughout the place, warning of what was to come.
