Dragon Ball: A Better Bulma

Chapter 23: 23: Yamcha's will.

"Howl of the Hungry Wolf!"

"Ha!"

A pillar of blue-white energy erupted from Goku's palms as he screamed, pushing everything forward. The wind blew hard on both sides of the attack, kicking up dust from the ground and leaving a clear path.

On Yamcha's side, his body was completely tensed from the activation of his technique, and in his eyes, Goku's Kame Hame Ha grew larger and larger, but he had a confident smile on his lips.

Then he moved forward at a very high speed, the image of the wolf projected behind him seemed to be trotting on the ground as he went straight towards this attack.

Yamcha might be weaker than Goku, he had no master to guide him step by step in techniques or understanding Ki, but Yamcha had found his way after every trial and error.

Bulma felt it, while Goku kept his energy at 150 power points and controlled his attack to avoid killing Yamcha, Yamcha had increased his power to about 140. It was only a difference of 10 points, but between martial artists, it wasn't a big difference.

Yamcha's hands slammed into the incoming Kame Hame Ha, his body meeting the unbridled energy of the attack, the soles of his feet sliding backward, and even a bit of smoke rising from his palms, but he stood and resisted.

If there is anything that can characterize Yamcha's life, it is that he is someone who resists. From a young age, he has always resisted, whether it be hunger, hardship, abuse, training, or the consequences of his actions weighing on his conscience, but he was a wolf.

A hungry wolf with a fixed prey! His eyes never left Goku as he was pushed harder and harder, no matter the intense pain, no matter that he could have just dodged.

Why dodge?!! Yamcha knew more than anyone else that there were things in this life that one could try to avoid or dodge, but sooner or later, he had to face them. He wanted to test himself against someone from an official school, against someone trained by good teachers, he wanted to test himself.

To validate his efforts, to validate the days of pure physical and mental pain when, by some mistake, his techniques failed. Everything he knew, everything he had created, and everything he could do, had been gained through his pain and suffering.

"This can't take me," Yamcha shouted before raising his hands and deflecting the attack into the sky, not caring that the air fortress was there.

The bolt of energy shot through the thick metal walls of Emperor Pilaf's fortress, piercing the clouds before dissipating into specks of light, but no one was watching, for something far more interesting was happening below.

With the same overwhelming speed as before, Yamcha came face to face with Goku, his hands bleeding, staining the ki claws he had created, but his eyes held the same determination as before.

"Wolf Fang Fist!" Yamcha's blows caught Goku off guard, hitting him brutally all over his body as Yamcha pushed him further and further back.

The image of the wolf behind him also did its thing, as Yamcha stopped hitting him, this illusion seemed to materialize in reality, taking Goku's body in its teeth, right up to the neck.

Though there was no blood from the bite, the wolf shook its head sharply as if to tear at the boy's flesh before launching him into the air. Yamcha then flew upward as the ki in his body flickered, as if it were about to run out.

"Take that! Wolf Claw!" Yamcha's hands were open, the Ki claws glowing brightly as he made two attacks that simulated the paws of a wolf, and five pairs of lines appeared on Goku's arms, piercing the protective clothing that always went under his armor.

These lines were scratches that began to gush blood as Goku tried to recover in the air, Yamcha climbed higher than him before spinning in the air and descending, kicking Goku in the chest.

Although the armor stopped much of his attack, some of his energy went directly into Goku, joining the remnants of energy that had gone through the boy during the previous attacks.

Tired, Yamcha pushed Goku to the ground before pointing his palm at the falling body. His breathing was difficult at this point, he had to use a lot of his Ki to make his attacks effective.

As if that weren't enough, the technique he used to increase his speed and strength had secondary flaws, he could already feel his body screaming in pain, but it was no less than what he had suffered before, so he resisted as he felt his energy in Goku's body.

"Wolf poison!" the strange energy in Goku began to wreak havoc in him like a terrible poison.

Goku had fallen brutally to the ground, leaving a small crater, the force of the impact stunned him, but his physical endurance was superior to humans and he was able to recover quickly, even though he now felt his insides burning.

"Hahaha! Grandpa was right, only fighting can make me stronger," Goku shouted, not caring if the strange energy hurt him, because he had a solution for that, he just had to appease the big guy in the future.

"Growl!" a bestial roar erupted from Goku's body and Bulma, who was watching from a distance, nodded as she saw Goku's actions.

"Only by being beaten can you become strong, Goku," Bulma muttered, as she would never dare to leave her younger brother in that state.

Even though Goku was annoying, she loved him enough to avoid hurting him badly, even if she could heal him. Not only because of her feelings, but she would also make Goku dependent on her ability, taking excessive risks in their fights without any conscience, and that was a big no-no.

The energy in Goku's body became much more wild and chaotic than Yamcha's which was ravaging his body as if it had a consciousness of its own, his energy caught the traces of the foreign energy and shattered it completely.

For a moment, everyone on Earth who could sense Ki looked off into the distance, for they could feel a powerful being releasing all of its energy, if only for a minute. 150 power multiplied by 10 was 1,500, something weak in the cosmos, but for Earth, it was an absolute monster.

Even if it was only for a short moment, Gohan, who was sunbathing on the beach of his master Muten Roshi, looked into the distance before he drew a smile on his face, how could he not recognize the Ki of his grandson?

"This boy is a real monster," said Muten Roshi as he approached his pupil.

"He is my grandson," Gohan said proudly, and Muten Roshi tried to hit him on the head with his staff, but Gohan dodged gently.

"You're getting cheeky, brat," Roshi complained, but under his glasses, his eyes had narrowed at the ease with which his pupil was able to dodge his attempted admonition.

I need to get more serious in my training, how about I take advantage of him being here? Roshi looked intently at his pupil, causing Gohan to jump slightly and turn away from his master in a blur of movement.

"Master, I have a coupon for a luxury spa, don't give up on the girls just yet," Gohan said with a nervous face, making Roshi blush.

"Gohan, you don't respect me anymore!" Roshi ran to his student with his staff raised, he wanted to show the brat that he would always be his master, even if he was weaker now.

"I don't understand what's going on," said a boy in Shaolin monk's robes, bald head, no nose, and three pairs of burns on his forehead, carrying a large turtle shell on his back while doing push-ups with difficulty.

"Don't bother, Krillin, I gave up trying to understand what was going on around me a long time ago," a giant turtle heard Krillin's words and decided to share his wisdom.

"Thank you, sea turtle," Krillin replied as he resumed his pushups.

"Looks like he's mastered some of that wild power," said Kami-Sama, who was watching the fight between Goku and Yamcha from The Lookout.

"This boy, Yamcha, is also very talented. Leading him to this place seems to have paid off," Kami-Sama smiled at the thought of how he had subtly led Yamcha to the diary that had completely changed his life.

It was all part of Kami-Sama's attempt to subtly favor certain people since he heard Jaco's words that day, and not only Yamcha had received such guidance.

Before Kami-Sama's eyes, a young man with three eyes and his friend were hard at work in the ruins of what appeared to be a spaceship, though it was so eroded that few traces of advanced technology remained.

He also had little Krillin in his eyes, the most talented human he had discovered in the younger generation, whom he had guided to meet Roshi, all because he wanted Gohan to train him, and from the appraising look the old man gave the young man, maybe that could happen in the future.

"Come on, let's show the cosmos how good we are," the elder god smiled before continuing to watch Goku and Yamcha fight.

"What was that!?" Yamcha landed on the ground, staggering from the lack of energy he felt, so he unsheathed the swords on his back and activated them.

The pair of swords emitted a whirring sound before their edges gradually turned blue, and although Goku had never seen this type of weapon before, he sensed the danger they posed, so he stood up and turned away from Yamcha as he wiped his nose with a smile.

"A little of what I can do. You're interesting, Yamcha! But now... it's my turn," Goku looked at his bloody arms before thundering his neck, and at that moment, Yamcha felt that Goku's mood had changed greatly.

If he had been childish and naive before, now he seemed to be facing a ferocious monster that was lunging at him. Only the blurred silhouette of Goku in the distance told him that he was only seeing a residual image, but that couldn't change anything.

A small fist struck his stomach, pushing him back violently, sending his body rolling to the ground, and although he managed to get up quickly, a brown tail struck his chin, blurring his eyes for a moment, but his will kept him from falling unconscious.

Fists, kicks, and blows with the baton, Yamcha took a beating from Goku who didn't stop at anything. The crunching of broken bones and bruised flesh was heard by all present, and even Chi-Chi averted her eyes from Goku's brutal display.

"Goku is as wild as ever," Bulma shook her head as she touched the bridge of her nose with two fingers.

How could she not notice that Goku didn't even care about Yamcha's life? The poor guy's body was covered in ugly bruises, his nose was broken, his arm was in a bad place and his swords were lying somewhere.

But one commendable thing was that Yamcha always stood up, even when Goku punched him back and forth while holding his leg and slamming him to the ground like a sack of potatoes, the boy still stood up.

After hitting him on the base of his chin with his open hand, Yamcha finally fell onto his back, only his open eyes and heaving chest indicating that he was alive, but he was a complete mess.

A yellow ki ball appeared in Goku's hand and slowly transformed into a ki sword that hovered above his palm. The tip of the weapon pointed directly at Yamcha's heart, but before that, Goku spoke.

"Why did you keep getting up?" the smaller Goku asked, causing Yamcha to cough slightly before answering.

"I have to... protect my friend Puar... he will be sad... if he is left alone, I cannot let him be sad..." Yamcha's eyes seemed to light up at that moment, his body shook and Goku did not know if it was because of the cramps or because of Yamcha.

Because Yamcha wanted to stand up again.

Yamcha turned slowly, his trembling hand, the only one he could use now, supporting the full weight of his body as he silently sat up. Finally, Yamcha stood up and looked straight at Goku, no, at his neck, like the hungry wolf that he was.

"Yamcha! Don't fight anymore!" The high-pitched voice of a small flying cat was heard, and Puar rushed to the wounded young man, covering his face with his chest as he cried.

"Die... you know many die on this path, Puar" Yamcha had only one regret, he could not give this friend who had been with him in his darkest moments a good life.

"You will not die today," a voice was heard and Bulma appeared behind Yamcha and put her hand on his back.

This time, Yamcha felt no fear of being near a beautiful girl, he just raised his good arm to hold on to Puar as he waited for the silence of death to take him away.

But as Bulma said, he won't die this time. The purple energy of the Blue Hair covered Yamcha and slowly his wounds healed, while Goku looked up and glared hatefully at the Air Fortress and the image of Pilaf that was being projected.

"Wow, what a good show! But Yamcha, you missed, looks like I'll have to clean up the mess before my world government is established," Pilaf's words angered Goku enough to transform the ki sword in his hand into a ball of pure energy that he hurled into the air.

An explosion echoed through the air and the fortress seemed to suffer great damage as it slowly tilted forward before slowly descending. Pilaf had done something very few could do; he had infuriated Goku.

"Bulma, stay out of this," Goku said before looking off into the distance, he wanted to vent the anger he felt and he didn't want Bulma to get involved.

"This is your moment, but next time you won't be able to do anything, okay?" asked Bulma and Goku just nodded.

"Let Chi-Chi help you with those pesky minions, she needs to train too," Bulma's words made Goku look at Chi-Chi before nodding.

"Chi-Chi, let's fight together!" Goku's words made Chi-Chi turn red, but she nodded as well.

"Good!"
