Dragged Into Another World Because of My Otaku Friend

Chapter 130: Left Behind

All the enemies lay motionless on the ground, except one who was stuck against the wall.

But it was a success.

"Yahoo! We did it!" Bob shouted happily. His tactic had actually worked. Though honestly, it was all thanks to me. Luckily, my reaction was fast enough to pull it off. Maybe the Reflex stat boost that Linus provided in the party play played a big role.

Bob then raised his hand for a high five with me and Linus.

Pang!

"Nice teamwork," I said with a smile. It was exhilarating to pull that off. The adrenaline rush was still pumping. I'm afraid I might get addicted to this kind of thrill.

Linus sighed.

'They're really crazy. But fighting like this... it's actually fun. Their style is unorthodox and unpredictable.' He smiled to himself.

"Shoot! We're already late!" I said, checking my wristwatch. We were nearly 30 minutes behind schedule.

We immediately ran down the roof and dashed onto the road, hoping we'd still make it in time.

---

Boom!

Thunder roared in the sky. The rain was still heavy, pouring down like cats and dogs.

At the plaza near the palace, a black carriage remained motionless. Around it, ten knights stood guard.

"Why haven't we moved yet?" Princess Reika asked, clearly irritated. They had been waiting inside the carriage for over an hour.

"Prince Reymond ordered us to depart two hours after his team embarked. Please wait a little longer, Princess," her assistant, Githa replied.

"No. We move now! I want to arrive there as fast as possible," Reika said firmly.

One of the knights approached the window and knocked. Githa lowered it.

"Yes?" she asked.

"We've been given orders to move now. Please get ready," the knight said.

Reika's face lit up upon hearing the news, but Githa was not convinced.

"Wait! Who gave you that order?" she asked sharply.

"Prince Reymond," the knight replied.

'Something's not right. He told us to wait two hours. But it's only been one... and now he suddenly orders us to move? Prince Reymond is a firm guy, if he gave order he rarely change it.'

Her eyes narrowed as she watched the knight walk away.

"Princess, I have a bad feeling about this. I think we should abandon this journey," she warned.

"What are you talking about? No, we're moving now. Daisy Town needs me to ease their suffering," Reika said firmly.

The carriage began to move, the sound of horse hooves echoing through the rain.

Githa placed her hand on her blade, readying herself for anything.

---

"What! They already left? How could they not wait for us?" Bob was surprised.

"They left thirty minutes ago. Where have you been?" Ida snapped.

We were currently in the guild hall. Our shirts and pants were soaked, leaving puddles on the floor.

"Can we still catch up if we run now?" I asked.

"No, you're too late. I think they've already left the city," Ida replied.

"How far is Daisy Town from here?" Linus asked, squeezing the water from his robe.

"It takes around four hours by carriage. Wait a minute... are you planning to go there on foot?" she asked.

"Like we don't have any other choice," I said.

"If you can wait, we're expecting another carriage. We were one short an hour ago, so another group is also waiting for it," she said, pointing to a group of guild members seated at a nearby table.

"Are we waiting?" Linus asked, glancing at us.

I looked at Bob, who seemed worried. He was probably thinking about Yui's brother right now.

"No. We don't have time. We move first. Just tell the carriage to pick us up if they catch up," Bob said, his eyes filled with determination.

I was about to oppose it, but seeing Bob like this, I didn't have a choice.

"How do we get to Daisy Town? Is there a map?" I asked.

"No need. After you leave through the west gate, just follow the dirt path. It leads straight to Daisy Town. I really recommend you wait, but if you're in a hurry, then go already," she said.

I took a quick sip of water before we made our move.

"Oh, one more thing, you should know this. We were late earlier because we encountered the robed figures. I guess you know about our story back in the cave. Be careful," I said to her.

Ida's eyes widened. She adjusted her glasses. "I see. Thanks for letting me know."

I nodded, and we made our move, running through the rain toward the next town.

---

In one of the houses in Daisy Town, a small family huddled together, trembling in fear. They sat in complete darkness, only occasionally illuminated by flashes of lightning.

Among them was a boy, around seven years old,he was the most frightened of them all.

"Don't be scared, Michael. Aunty Lin will make sure all of you safe," said a woman with a shaky smile. Her hand trembled as she gently patted the boy's head.

"I want Sis Yui…" Michael whimpered softly.

"Shhh. Be a good boy and stay quiet, okay? Then I'll take you to see Sis Yui," she whispered.

Michael gave a small nod.

Shriek!

Suddenly, the creak of the door echoed through the house. Everyone froze. Their eyes wide in terror.

Lin, the only adult among them, tightened her grip on a wooden stick beside her. The others were all young children. She pushed the kids behind her and dropped to her knees. Though fear gripped her, she had to protect them.

The sound of approaching footsteps grew louder. Lin and the children began breathing faster as panic rising. The footsteps drew closer, then it stopped.

Lin held her breath.

A shadow appeared before her. Without hesitation, she swung the wooden stick at it, but it struck something hard and sharp, jolting her.

"Wait! Wait!" the figure called out.

Lin froze. The voice was human, not a monster.

The figure reached out, took the stick from her, and tossed it aside. A flash of lightning briefly revealed a man wearing light armor.

"Shhh. I'm Cain, one of the city guards. Let's get you all out of here," he said gently.

Relief flooded Lin's face. Someone had come to help.

Without hesitation, she gathered the children, and together they followed Cain into the stormy night.
