Chapter 129: Gun and Slash and Strike
I finally managed to see clearly again. I snuffed out the remaining fluid from my nose, and my breathing started to stabilize.
"Thanks... both of you," I said as I stood up.
"It's nothing, bro," Bob replied casually.
"Bob, why weren't you affected by the poison?" Linus asked, eyeing him curiously. He'd seen Bob walk through the gas and come out completely fine.
"I don't really know. But I guess... I'm just not affected by it," Bob shrugged.
Linus and I exchanged surprised glances. Before we could ask anything more...
Whish!
Another kunai came flying toward us.
"Not again!" I growled, raising my gun and firing without hesitation.
Bang!
The bullet struck the kunai mid-air, sending it flying off course before it clattered between two nearby rooftops.
The three enemy figures across from us were already preparing for their next attack.
"Look, everyone," Bob said, stepping forward. "If we go one-on-one, this is going to take forever. How about we hit them all at once?"
"You mean... Gun and Slash?" I asked, referring to our usual combo move. It worked great in 2v1 or 2v2 situations, but 3v3? That was a whole different beast.
"Nope," Bob smirked. "We do Gun and Slash and Strike."
"What the heck is that? A skill or something?" Linus asked, visibly confused.
"It's our tactic," Bob explained. "Usually, if it's just me and Alan, it's Gun and Slash. But now that you're here, I added Strike for your rod staff."
Basically, he just threw in "Strike" to make it sound cooler.
"So, how do we do it?" I asked.
Bob stepped closer to me and Linus, then leaned in and whispered the plan.
And with that, a new tactic was born, crafted just for the three of us.
Of course, I was still at the center of it all. But this time, I wasn't that surprised, because now, I knew exactly what we were capable of.
---
"Everyone ready on your side?" Prince Reid asked. He was now seated in one of the royal carriages, speaking to Mirinda outside through the open window.
"Actually... we're three men short. I don't know where the hell they went, but we don't have time to waste," Mirinda said. Deep down, she wanted those three to show up in front of her just so she could scold the hell out of them. But more than anything, she just hoped they were safe. With the upcoming tournament, this attack couldn't have come at a worse time.
"If you say so. Then we move now," Reid replied, closing the window. His carriage began rolling forward, escorted by nearly thirty knights on horseback.
Mirinda turned and gave the order for her convoy to move as well.
The procession passed through the city gates and headed straight for Daisy Town...
...leaving their aces behind.
---
"You guys got it?" Bob asked.
"I think so," I nodded.
Linus did the same.
'To think they came up with that tactic and now they just want to do it on a whim… Either they're too brave or too dumb,' Linus thought.
But with their skills... I think they can pull it off.
He hoped.
"Stoneguard Ward."
I cast a protective spell. This tactic was risky, very risky. But if done right, it was also extremely effective.
A yellow aura engulfed me. I then switched Indra back to Gun form. My eyes locked onto the three enemies ahead.
The robed figures noticed my sharp gaze. Instinctively, they adjusted their stance, as if sensing something was about to happen.
"Now!"
We launched from our positions, each in a different direction. Bob and Linus dashed out to the sides, each veering to opposite flanks, while I charged straight ahead toward the robed figures.
The enemies began to react, but I was quicker. I fired immediately, forcing them to hesitate. One tried to leap away, but I cast [Iron Bullet Spike] just in time, cutting off their movement. My reflexes were sharp and my timing was tighter. Maybe after facing them so many times, I'd begun to understand how they moved.
Seeing their movements restricted, and watching me charge straight at them while Bob and Linus ran wide at the flanks, the three enemies made their decision.
They turned to face me, intending to finish me off first.
And that was exactly what we wanted.
As they came closer, I immediately used Dash Slash, and in an instant, I appeared right in front of them. They were shocked to see me suddenly right in their faces.
That was the cue.
Bob and Linus ran as fast as they could toward the center, charging in from both flanks, closing in on me and the three enemies.
The robed figures flinched, unable to react in time. I raised Indra and slashed upward at one of them, the blade leaving a glowing trail through the air.
"Rising Slash!"
One of the enemies was hit cleanly, launched into the air by the force of the strike.
Another enemy slashed at me. I deflected the blow instantly, pushing him backward, just as the last one tried to run.
I quickly switched my class to Warrior that was already preset in my hotkey just now.
"Taunt!"
I cast it on him immediately, locking him in place for a few precious seconds as he struggled against the control.
But a few seconds were more than enough.
Bob dashed in and unleashed Dash Slash, appearing right below the enemy still suspended in midair.
"Windpiercer Jab!"
Bob jabbed toward the airborne enemy, his attack landing multiple rapid thrusts across the target's body before the enemy fell unconscious, bleeding out on the ground.
Meanwhile, Linus arrived at the one still locked by Taunt. Without hesitation, he used his signature skill...
"Hundred Thrusts!"
The enemy took hit after hit across most parts of his body. Each strike landed with a heavy rhythm, like the beat of a war drum. Linus then spun his body and delivered a final, crushing blow to the enemy's head, causing him to collapse to the floor.
I turned to the last one.
Switching to my [Spiked Club], I swung it horizontally, slamming it into his body and sending him flying sideways into the wall with a loud thud.
The [Spiked Club] was my go-to weapon whenever I needed to finish someone quickly. It's my favorite weapon after Indra.
