Chapter 115: A Saintess? The Battle Finally Arrives

At Han Li's residence, while they waited for the food to be served, the master and disciple formally introduced Shui Bing'er to the others, and she conversed gracefully with them. Naturally, Guang Ling couldn't resist boasting about their journey though when it came to Shui Bing'er, there was a hint of awkwardness.

It was only then that Dugu Yan and Xiu'er realized that Shui Bing'er had essentially been "kidnapped" by Guang Ling. Their gazes toward her softened with sympathy, and their attitude toward her became noticeably warmer.

When they began discussing martial souls, everyone was surprised to learn about the uniqueness of Shui Bing'er's martial soul. Dugu Yan, who had previously heard about it from Han Li, eagerly demonstrated her own Beast Martial Soul transformation and enthusiastically pulled Shui Bing'er over, wanting to compare their transformations.

Shui Bing'er happily obliged after all, Dugu Yan's transformed state did resemble hers quite a bit. However, as their conversation continued, she became increasingly astonished. She had always considered herself an exceptional talent, yet among this group, she was actually the weakest.

Even that quiet girl with bear like ears, who did nothing but return a sweet smile whenever someone looked at her, was six levels above her.

And what shocked her the most was Han Li. She had only just learned that he was actually a year younger than her, yet he was already a Rank 30 Soul Elder at just seven years old. The revelation completely shattered her previous understanding of talent.

Just as Shui Bing'er was observing the others, Qingluan was also assessing her. From their brief interaction, he could already tell that she was highly intelligent and had a good grasp of social boundaries. Compared to the other two girls, she was more composed and mature.

Her outward demeanor resembled how Han Li presented himself to outsiders, though she spoke far less and lacked the same drive for attention. This suited Qingluan's preferences well. Combined with her extraordinary talent, it was no wonder Guang Ling and Han Li had chosen her for him. Qingluan silently evaluated his potential disciple.

Their conversation lasted late into the night.

For now, Shui Bing'er would be staying at Han Li's residence. After all, there were enough people her age here to help her adjust, and Qingluan had yet to formally take her as a disciple. Not that it made much of a difference whether or not she became his student, Qingluan frequently came here to train Han Li and the others anyway. Teaching one student or four made little difference to him.

Seeing Shui Bing'er being dragged off by Dugu Yan and Xiu'er, Han Li didn't interfere. Girls had their own ways of bonding, and it was best for him to stay out of it.

After all, after traveling for several days, he needed a proper rest.

The next morning.

When Han Li arrived at the training grounds, he saw that the three girls were already there. Dugu Yan and Xiu'er were instructing Shui Bing'er in the Phoenix Dance of the Nine Heavens.

It seemed like they had learned their lesson from last time they weren't sleep deprived from staying up all night talking.

Giving them a small nod, Han Li began his own warm up routine.

The morning was spent on rigorous training, with breaks in between. Shui Bing'er, like Dugu Yan before her, got to experience firsthand the near luxurious cultivation resources available here. She couldn't help but be astounded this was far superior to what she had access to at Tianshui Academy.

Qingluan and Guang Ling didn't show up in the morning. They had gone to the Elder's Hall first, as Qingluan needed to share his insights from his breakthrough. Although cultivation insights were often deeply personal, sharing them could still inspire others to make their own breakthroughs.

Han Li speculated that if they weren't back by noon, it was probably because Guang Ling's actions had finally come to light. There was likely a meeting about how to handle the situation, meaning the battle he had agreed to with his master was probably happening sooner rather than later.

Sure enough, just as the four of them were engaged in combat training in the afternoon, the two Elders arrived.

"Han Li, over here."

The moment Guang Ling stepped into the training grounds, he immediately called out.

Han Li forced his sparring partner to retreat with a precise strike, gestured for a pause, and walked over after putting away his martial soul.

"Master, Uncle, what's going on?" Han Li asked with a smile.

"Of course something's up. You won't believe this Bibi Dong came straight to the Elder's Hall today! No wonder she didn't show up last night I was actually wondering if she had suddenly grown a conscience."

Guang Ling's tone carried a subtle excitement. Clearly, he hadn't been put at a disadvantage.

"So… does this mean I need to fight?" Han Li asked directly.

"Yep. She had the nerve to try and use this opportunity to establish her disciple as the official 'Saintess' of the Spirit Hall. But Big Brother immediately shut her down he didn't give her a shred of face. You should've been there to see the look on her face! If you had been there, we could've teamed up to make it even worse for her. Such a missed opportunity!"

Guang Ling's facial expressions were overly dramatic as he spoke, smoothly shifting from excitement to regret. He was practically a master of exaggerated reactions.

"So, am I fighting one opponent or three?" Han Li asked curiously.

"Obviously all three. They're just low rank Soul Elders. I can't even imagine a scenario where you'd lose." Guang Ling confidently made the decision for him.

"Still, don't underestimate them. Go all out. Bibi Dong might not know everything about our side, but she still agreed to this fight after learning about Han Li's level. She must have her own reasons."

Qingluan's calm voice interjected, offering a warning.

"Hmph, what could she possibly rely on? That martial soul fusion skill between Hu Liena and that Xie Yue? Of course I investigated it first before agreeing to the fight."

Guang Ling smirked smugly.

"If their fusion skill were purely offensive, I might be a little worried. After all, Han Li's physical durability isn't his strongest suit. But a control and support type fusion skill? Pfft. Even if Han Li got caught in it, it wouldn't make a difference."

"And as for that brat Yan? Han Li could just stand still, let his soul power form a protective barrier, and the guy wouldn't even be able to damage his clothes."

Guang Ling's face was full of mockery.

"Stop giving Han Li reckless ideas. Let him handle the battle himself we need a decisive victory." Qingluan shot Guang Ling a look, shutting down his "coaching."

"I was just talking, just talking! Of course, the actual fight is up to Han Li."

Despite being a Rank 98 Titled Douluo, Guang Ling instinctively followed Qingluan's words. It was an ingrained habit formed over many years a subconscious "rank suppression."

"Han Li, perform well. There might be some benefits for you in the end." Qingluan smiled slightly as he looked at his disciple.

"Will it be public?" Han Li immediately asked.

"Half public. All the Titled Douluo and high ranking members of the Spirit Hall in the city will be attending." Qingluan nodded.

"Exactly! Han Li, make it a spectacular show. Who knows? The title of 'Holy Son of the Spirit Hall' might just fall into my dear disciple's lap!"

Guang Ling grinned, clearly excited about the possibility.
