At the entrance of the Spirit Pagoda Academy, Bai Xu stared at the empty bus before him, sighing repeatedly at the academy's extravagance—they had chartered an entire bus just for him. Despite living a relatively comfortable life, he was still drowning in debt.

Calculating the costs, he now owed Teacher Leng tens of millions of federal coins.

"The academy originally had no plans to participate," Leng Jiuming said, appearing out of nowhere, as usual. "But because of my insistence, you're the only one representing us in the youth division's individual competition. Consider it a business trip—expenses will be reimbursed later."

Bai Xu had long grown accustomed to Leng Jiuming's sudden appearances. The two boarded the bus one after the other.

As the bus slowly set off, the scenery outside the window began to blur past. Bai Xu pressed his face against the glass, his gaze unfocused as he numbly watched the passing landscape, lost in thought.

"Bai Xu?"

"Hmm?"

Leng Jiuming leaned closer, following Bai Xu's line of sight, and chuckled. "What are you looking at with such melancholy?"

"Just reminiscing about the past. Feeling a bit nostalgic."

"Ah, I miss my days at Shrek Academy too," Leng Jiuming said with a smile. "By the way, I need to remind you of something."

He continued, "During the The Skysea Alliance Tournament, it's best if you rely on your Heavenly Eye martial soul. Try to use your Body Secret Techniques as subtly as possible to avoid unnecessary trouble."

"I understand, Teacher," Bai Xu replied. "Honestly, I don't plan on winning the championship. I'll probably lose in the semifinals or quarterfinals. Winning would draw too much attention, and that's not good for me."

"That's fine too."

The Heavenly Sea Alliance Tournament had participants from Shrek Academy. If Bai Xu defeated them, he would inevitably attract attention and recruitment offers. They might even investigate his background, and if they discovered his unique circumstances, things could get complicated.

Leng Jiuming was pleased with his disciple's wisdom and restraint, his lips curling into a smile. "The next Shrek Academy enrollment is still over two years away. After the tournament, how about coming with me to Shrek City? You could stay at the headquarters for a couple of years and broaden your horizons."

But this time, Bai Xu unexpectedly refused. "No, Teacher. I was actually planning to tell you after the tournament—I'll need to take a leave of absence. As for where I'm going, I'm afraid I can't disclose that due to special circumstances. I apologize."

"You've already made up your mind?" Leng Jiuming's expression dimmed slightly, suspecting that some other major faction had secretly reached out to Bai Xu.

"Yeah."

Bai Xu's affirmation only strengthened Leng Jiuming's suspicions. Had another powerful organization taken an interest in him? The Tang Sect? The War God Temple? Or perhaps the federal military?

Still, those weren't bad options.

"Alright, I won't force you. But if you ever decide to leave the Spirit Pagoda, let me know in advance."

With a heavy heart, Leng Jiuming moved to a seat near the front of the bus, inwardly lamenting the loss of the prodigy he had nurtured for years. Meanwhile, Bai Xu wore a puzzled expression.

When had he ever said he was leaving the Spirit Pagoda?

Suddenly, Leng Jiuming turned back, his tone earnest. "If you ever rise to greatness in the future, don't forget your teacher!"

"Uh… sure," Bai Xu stammered, startled by the sudden intensity.

"And don't forget the 66,530,000 federal coins you owe me!"

Hearing the exact figure, Bai Xu's lips twitched. He forced a smile. "Don't worry, Teacher. I'm not the kind of person to skip out on debts."

Over the past few months, he had indeed consumed a considerable amount of spiritual treasures. Leng Jiuming had never hesitated to spend money on his cultivation, but the costs were staggering.

Purchasing spirit souls, tickets to the Spirit Ascension Platform, specialized diets—only a family of soul masters could afford such expenses.

For a lone cultivator without backing, trying to make it in the soul master world without joining any faction was nearly impossible.

The soul master world also operated on connections and favors.

Not everyone could take the blacksmithing route like Tang Wulin, earning money hand over fist with a high-level blacksmith as a mentor.

Bai Xu, on the other hand, had only a basic understanding of forging and mecha piloting, having focused most of his efforts on mastering secret techniques.

But from a long-term perspective, his choice was a sound investment.

Meanwhile, the students of Eastsea Academy, led by Wu Zhangkong and the academic director, Long Hengxu, were also on their way to Skysea City by bus.

On their bus, Gu Yue and Xu Xiaoyan sat together, their eyes occasionally drifting toward Tang Wulin, who was fast asleep in the front-right seat.

The son of a God King… Golden Dragon King bloodline… It seems he doesn't know his own origins or what his bloodline truly means.

Gu Yue actually had a soft spot for the boy, but Bai Xu's words had struck a chord with her. She couldn't afford to lose herself in human emotions—she needed to observe everything from a detached perspective.

Just like… Bai Xu.

But why is Bai Xu also an observer? His origins seem even more mysterious than Tang Wulin's…

Faced with an increasingly uncertain future, even the Silver Dragon King couldn't help but feel a twinge of unease.

The things that boy had revealed were too shocking.

Could someone who could see through past, present, and future truly exist in this world?

And if he grew to his full potential, what then?

A God King? A Supreme God? Or perhaps even a being on par with the Dragon God, capable of defying cosmic laws and shattering the universe itself?

In a world where God Kings were the pinnacle of power, the Silver Dragon King couldn't fathom what lay beyond. In her understanding, the Dragon God was the absolute peak.

Her thoughts wandered further.

The birth of a Dragon God doesn't necessarily require the Silver Dragon and Golden Dragon to devour each other. If they were to unite and produce offspring, then with the Dragon God Core, their child might ascend to become the next Dragon God.

This method would have a much higher success rate than mutual consumption.

But… she would never resort to such a method.

Nor would she ever fall in love with… the son of a God King.

"Love"… what humans often call "liking"… the inexplicable emotion Tang Wulin once felt for that senior, Ouyang…

Nae'er wants to bind me through love? So that I can't bring myself to harm Tang Wulin?

What gives her such confidence?

Or is love truly that powerful?

Gu Yue had begun to piece things together. Bai Xu had warned her not to underestimate human emotions—friendship, love, familial bonds…

Her gaze softened as she glanced at Xu Xiaoyan, who was peacefully sleeping on her shoulder. The girl's fair skin and serene expression reminded her of the past month they had spent training together, and the corners of her lips curled upward unconsciously.

The killing intent she had deliberately fostered in her heart melted away. Gently stroking Xu Xiaoyan's cheek, she murmured, "Perhaps it really is that profound."

"But I've also come to understand something else. Some things can't be resolved by love alone. There are things far more important—duty, faith… When conflicts arise between them, one must be sacrificed. Bai Xu was right. Indecision only breeds contempt. But then… what is it that you seek? What are you chasing?"

Soul beasts were simple creatures by nature. Take Xiong Jun, for example—he had always been openly defiant toward Di Tian. If he were ever on par with Di Tian in strength, he wouldn't hesitate to challenge him and seize the title of Beast God.

They couldn't comprehend the complexity of human nature. Thrust into human society, they learned and adapted, becoming more human-like.

But instincts forged over millennia couldn't be undone in mere decades.

Only Xiao Wu and Ah Yin had been fortunate. Most transformed soul beasts met their end as 100,000-year soul rings, serving as stepping stones for others before fading into oblivion.
