With the start of the new semester, Eastsea Academy, which had been quiet for a month, became lively once again. 

Students streamed into the academy one after another, and everything seemed vibrant and full of life. This was the second half of the academic year, and after this semester, the students would advance to the next grade. At the same time, the pressure of promotion exams loomed over every student. 

For the students of Class Zero, one novelty was the arrival of a transfer student named Xu Xiaoyan. 

Given Teacher Wu's strict standards, everyone had been worried about whether Xu Xiaoyan would pass the one-month probation period. Fortunately, her talent was also impressive. As a support and control-type soul master, her observational skills and battlefield control were excellent, and she was particularly adept at coordinating with her teammates. In the end, Wu Zhangkong decided to let her stay and join Class Zero. 

However, during this month, Tang Wulin had been troubled. He would occasionally glance at Gu Yue, only to quickly avert his eyes in panic. 

Since the start of the semester, Gu Yue had been acting strangely. The unique possessiveness she had once shown toward Tang Wulin seemed to have vanished, replaced by a colder, more distant version of herself. 

Her smiles were no longer reserved solely for Tang Wulin. She would sometimes smile at Xie Xie or Xu Xiaoyan as well. Though she still smiled at Tang Wulin, those smiles lacked the special meaning they once held. 

The childlike Tang Wulin occasionally felt a sense of loss, but he didn't dwell on it too much and continued to treat everyone as usual. 

Xie Xie often teased the two about it, but they always brushed it off with a laugh. 

Gu Yue had indeed changed. She was trying to view things from Bai Xu's perspective, experiencing everything as an observer—rational yet sincere. She maintained a basic distance from others, able to enjoy their company without becoming overly immersed. 

This was the lesson Bai Xu had imparted to her, and she was now trying to learn from it. 

"You're amazing, Gu Yue. Xie Xie and I couldn't even get close to you," Tang Wulin said as he picked himself up from the ground, marveling at the overpowering nature of Gu Yue's soul skills during their spar. 

With control over six elements, if Gu Yue had just a bit more soul power, she would truly be invincible. 

"You and Xie Xie worked well together too. You almost broke through Xiaoyan's and my soul skill blockade," Gu Yue replied, helping Xu Xiaoyan up from the ground as the latter's soul power had been completely drained. 

Xu Xiaoyan sighed. "Sigh, Captain, you're too strong! During the day, my soul skills are completely useless against you!" 

"Hey, hey, I'm the one who got the worst of it in this match, okay? Stop sighing and help me up already!" Xie Xie lay on the ground, looking utterly defeated. Despite having twin martial souls, he was the second-lowest in talent among them—if Xu Xiaoyan hadn't joined, he would've been dead last. 

But after waiting a while and realizing no one was coming to help him up, he had no choice but to contort his body and struggle to his feet. His movements were so comical that they drew laughter from everyone. 

Even Gu Yue couldn't help but chuckle. Now that she had stopped focusing so much on Tang Wulin, she realized Xie Xie actually had a talent for being a comedian. 

Wu Zhangkong recorded each student's strengths and said, "That's it for today's lesson. Go back and rest. We'll continue tomorrow!" 

"Yes, Teacher!" 

Exhausted, the group slowly made their way toward the dormitories, but a sudden call stopped them in their tracks. 

"Xiaoyan!" 

Xu Xiaoyu, who shared the same blue hair as his sister, strode over to greet her. Behind him was Bai Xu, who rarely left his residence. 

Ever since their encounter in the Spirit Ascension Platform, Xu Xiaoyu had often invited Bai Xu to team up for survival challenges there. However, due to his teacher's warnings, Bai Xu had to decline. 

This time, Bai Xu had finally stepped out, wanting to discuss something with Gu Yue. Coincidentally, he ran into Xu Xiaoyu, who had also come to Eastsea Academy to check on his sister. 

The two decided to come together. 

Seeing Xu Xiaoyan's exhausted state, Xu Xiaoyu wasn't surprised. "Keep training hard. I'm glad to see you're doing well. These teammates are worth relying on." 

Bai Xu and Gu Yue exchanged a glance and a smile as a greeting, but Bai Xu still needed to speak with her. He stepped forward and said, "Can I borrow some of your time? There's something I'd like to discuss." 

Gu Yue was puzzled but didn't overthink it. She followed Bai Xu toward the lakeside. 

Xie Xie and Tang Wulin watched this scene, their thoughts drifting. 

Xie Xie remarked, "Isn't that the guy from the Spirit Ascension Platform? Since when did he get so familiar with Gu Yue?" 

He then nudged Tang Wulin with his elbow and teased, "Looks like something's off between you and Gu Yue!" 

"Cut it out. It's not what you think," Tang Wulin quickly retorted. 

The two walked side by side along the artificial lake. 

Gu Yue asked, "What do you want?" 

"I'm going to participate in the individual competition of the Heavenly Sea Alliance Tournament. After that, I'll ask Teacher Leng for leave and go train at the core of your soul beasts' territory. Right now, the only place that can be considered a treasure land is the core of the Star Dou Great Forest." 

Gu Yue hesitated for a few seconds before replying, "Fine. I'll talk to Di Tian. Anything else?" 

"That's it." 

"That's it? Is the training environment that important to you?" 

"Important, but not critically so. It's just that the efficiency would be higher. If possible, I'd also like some Life Gold. It might be useful in the future." 

Gu Yue frowned. "Life Gold… That's a bit difficult. Although there's still some in the core area, there isn't much left." 

"So there's still some. It's just sitting there anyway, and you guys don't use it. Discuss it with Di Tian and give it to me. I'll make sure the returns are worth it in the future." 

"That's one big, round promise you're making," Gu Yue said, exasperated. 

"Life Gold is somewhat important to me. It might be related to my future cultivation. I hope you'll take it seriously." 

"Fine. I'll go observe when the time comes. I hope you don't mind." 

"Sure." 

Bai Xu then asked, "How's your relationship with Tang Wulin? Anything unusual?" 

Gu Yue glanced back. "If what you said is true, then a God King's methods could indeed evade my detection. I've thought carefully about your words and have been acting accordingly. It does feel much clearer than before." 

After chatting for a while longer, the two parted ways. 

Tang Wulin watched as Gu Yue returned and couldn't help but ask, "Do you know him? You two seem close." 

"Yeah. He also joined the Spirit Pagoda. We're peers, so we're familiar with each other." 

"Ohhh~ Something's off here, Gu Yue. Have you found someone new—" Xie Xie dragged out his tone, speaking without filter. He was about to say more when Gu Yue's icy glare sent a shiver down his spine, shutting him up immediately. 

Tang Wulin felt an inexplicable emptiness in his heart. He had actually liked the feeling of being "possessed"—the way Gu Yue's words and actions had once revolved entirely around him. 

But now… she had changed so much. It was as if she had matured overnight, creating a distance between them that made it harder to reach the depths of her life. 

Even if he interacted with Mu Xi or Ouyang Zixin afterward, Gu Yue no longer pouted or scolded him for getting too close to others. 

That night, Tang Wulin, rarely for him, struggled to fall asleep. At just ten years old, he didn't understand why he felt so restless. The only thing that could ease his mind was the solitary darkness of the night.
