Douluo: Qian Xunji's Joyful Life

Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Qian Xunji’s Thinking

Chapter 13: Qian Xunji's Thinking

Above the sea, Qian Daoliu wielded the Liangtian Sword, clashing repeatedly with Bo Saixi's Sea God Scepter, sparks of soul power scattering each time they collided. Any casual strike from them stirred the waters within ten thousand meters into a frenzy.

Neither used soul skills. At the level of Limit Douluo, one's soul ring configuration and soul ring skills were far less critical. The sheer power of the massive soul force in a Limit Douluo's body already surpassed the might of most soul skills.

For instance, Qian Daoliu's first soul skill, Angel Assault—if he channeled his soul power into his fist instead, its resulting impact would far exceed the effect of the first soul skill.

"Sixth Soul Skill: Angelic Roar!"

The sixth ring beneath Qian Daoliu's feet lit up as two golden flame-like streaks blazed from the corners of his eyes. A high-pitched, "Ah—" sound emanated from the angel martial soul behind him. The moment that sonic wave touched Bo Saixi's skin, a sharp ache flared in her head. It was a spiritual attack, not something one could simply block by covering one's ears. Qian Daoliu's soul power, converted with the help of his soul ring, made this technique effective against nearly any expert.

Under her feet, Bo Saixi appeared to stand on an invisible floor. She struck the Sea God Scepter against it; the churning sea, which had been surging outward, abruptly converged at her feet as though alive. Immediately thereafter, a towering pillar of water rose and enveloped her, forming a sturdy barrier. Qian Daoliu's sonic attack made it less than a third of the way through the water before being blocked.

When the water pillar subsided, Bo Saixi reappeared completely dry, neither her body nor her clothes wet in the slightest. Her soul power was recovering at an astonishing rate.

Noting Qian Daoliu's puzzlement, Bo Saixi explained, "It's an ability of my martial soul—I can control and absorb the power of the sea for my own use."

"I see. As expected of the Sea God."

Qian Daoliu breathed a sigh of admiration. A Limit Douluo could exert close to one hundred thousand pounds of force, yet that was nothing compared to the ocean's boundless energy. If Bo Saixi raised a ten-thousand-meter wave, it could easily crush him.

Suddenly, both she and Qian Daoliu turned toward the same direction. Qian Daoliu wasted no time slashing out a golden sword aura.

With a "Bang!" that golden sword aura was effortlessly shattered by an equally dominating soul power, an aura that rivaled those of Qian Daoliu and Bo Saixi.

"Haha, Qian Daoliu! Fighting a total stranger who's also a Limit Douluo without telling me—how thoughtless of you!"

With two yellow, two purple, four black, and one red ring—nine in total—Tang Chen arrived, carrying a massive Clear Sky Hammer whose head was about the size of a large water tank.

"Bah, you musclehead—were you sniffing around this far away?" Qian Daoliu retorted without holding back.

"You, you are…"

Bo Saixi stared at the brazen Tang Chen and momentarily froze. She had seen Tang Chen once while still young, on the continent searching for the lost Sea God's Heart. She'd heard of him as the number one of his generation on the continent, caught a glimpse from afar, and fell in love at first sight. Yet he was already married, and she had her own responsibilities. They never spoke, and she'd returned to Sea God Island after observing him from a distance.

She never imagined that seventy years later, she'd encounter him again—this time, already a Limit Douluo. Because of his powerful cultivation, he looked little different from how he had at age thirty, even appearing a bit younger from spending his days in the Clear Sky Clan.

"I'm Tang Chen of the Clear Sky Clan! Didn't expect there to be yet another Limit Douluo in this world."

Tang Chen identified himself, unaware of Bo Saixi or Sea God Island.

"Sea God Island, Bo Saixi."

Tang Chen twirled the Clear Sky Hammer in his hand, assuming a combat stance as he stepped forward. His rough voice boomed, "Bo Saixi, let's have a fight!"

Qian Daoliu stepped in, roaring, "Tang Chen, get lost. I haven't finished fighting yet!"

Tang Chen took another step forward, rolling his arm dismissively. "You've been at it for so long and still haven't settled it. Your soul power is half-spent, and Bo Saixi's is full—you'd lose anyway. Let me handle her, and you can watch."

A vein bulged on Qian Daoliu's forehead. "You damn—"

After a heated exchange of insults, Bo Saixi intervened, suggesting that Qian Daoliu step aside and recover while they found a different battleground for another round. Upon learning that Bo Saixi could draw on the ocean's power to boost her own, Tang Chen had no hesitation about engaging her at sea. He wanted to see how strong she could become with the ocean's blessing.

"I'll be watching to see what you can do, musclehead," Qian Daoliu muttered, staying off to the side to restore his soul power. He silently observed Tang Chen, who stood on the sea's surface, and Bo Saixi, remaining as elegant as ever in midair.

"Killing God Domain—Clear Sky Avatar!"

Blood-red murderous energy burst frantically from Tang Chen's body. The seawater beneath him froze under that killer aura, forming a crimson bat emblem. He tossed the Clear Sky Hammer upward, and as scarlet lightning crackled around it, a pitch-black soul ring lit up. The hammer swelled rapidly, growing to the size of a small hill. Tang Chen leaped up, grabbing the massive hammer in both arms, and smashed it down at Bo Saixi.

Bo Saixi's seventh soul ring lit up as well, enlarging her Sea God Martial Soul. She held a trident fashioned from soul power, thrusting it at the incoming hammer.

Boom!

A colossal explosion erupted, sending terrifying soul-power ripples in all directions. The ocean beneath them sank by several hundred meters. Raising his arm, Qian Daoliu formed a soul-power shield to block the shockwaves.

Crack!

The trident Bo Saixi had formed shattered under Tang Chen's Clear Sky Hammer. She felt a sudden wave of disorientation, immediately calling on her Sea God Martial Soul to draw on the sea's power and steady herself.

Far off, Qian Xunji, though lacking the spiritual power to see the battle in detail, could discern the clash of those two mountain-like martial soul avatars. His brow furrowed in puzzlement.

Not even an eight-black-one-red Bo Saixi could stand firm against the Clear Sky Hammer's power without the ocean's help. As for pure head-on collisions, nothing could rival the Clear Sky Hammer. But…why did Bo Saixi insist on taking the brunt of the hammer's strike?

The Clear Sky Hammer's terrifying destructive power stemmed largely from its immense weight. In certain respects, the Douluo world was fair: a martial soul that was overly powerful would inevitably be limited. While the Clear Sky Hammer boasted colossal destructive force, it couldn't be swung too fast. Given that Bo Saixi wielded a light trident and enjoyed the precise perception of a Limit Douluo's spiritual power, why take the direct blow from the hammer's head? Wouldn't targeting the hammer's shaft be better?

Doesn't she understand leverage? All she had to do was brace against the hammer's handle or block at the moment Tang Chen started swinging, denying him the chance to build momentum. That would prevent the Clear Sky Hammer from unleashing its devastating might. Even if it was hard to manage perfectly in normal form, the hammer was so huge in its avatar state that she should be able to find an opening. And if it was still too risky, she could simply retreat, couldn't she?
