Douluo: I am the True Master

Chapter 545: Chapter 545: The Struggle for Fortune - Part 2

In the instant this thought flashed through Ye Wen's mind, a streak of golden light—like a miniature sun—came charging through the jungle.

Ye Wen and Huo Yuer only caught a flash of brilliance before a creature appeared not far from the Twin-Headed Cyclops.

Huo Yuer looked at the Three-Eyed Golden Lion and felt a wave of dizziness. This lion-like soul beast seemed to resonate with her in some inexplicable way. The novel sensation briefly left her entranced.

The Three-Eyed Golden Lion also sensed this ripple and instinctively turned its gaze toward Ye Wen and Huo Yuer.

Though it was only a ten-thousand-year soul beast, the Three-Eyed Golden Lion was already three meters long, standing about eight feet tall at the shoulder. Its body was covered in radiant golden fur, which shimmered under the sunlight, giving it an almost sacred aura.

However, the serene beauty of the scene contrasted sharply with the terror in the eyes of the Twin-Headed Cyclops. After all, the Three-Eyed Golden Lion's preferred food was the brains of light-attribute soul beasts. It was a truly bizarre and macabre dietary preference.

As for why a mental-type Cyclops had light attributes, it was simply due to its mutation—a natural occurrence. Unfortunately for the Twin-Headed Cyclops, despite gaining strength through its mutation, it had also landed itself on the menu of this fearsome predator.

But Ye Wen himself had never been a fan of eating animal brains or brain-related dishes.

The Three-Eyed Golden Lion quickly snapped out of its daze. Though the resonance was intriguing, nothing could compare to the allure of a good meal.

Taking advantage of this brief moment, the Twin-Headed Cyclops managed to flee another hundred meters. But in front of the Emperor Auspicious Beast, capable of rivaling a hundred-thousand-year soul beast despite being only ten thousand years old, its efforts were futile. In the blink of an eye, the Twin-Headed Cyclops met its demise.

With just a few swift movements, the Three-Eyed Golden Lion cracked open the Cyclops's skull and began enjoying its lunch.

Though the Cyclops wasn't purely a light-attribute soul beast, its additional mental attributes likely added extra flavor. From the satisfied look in the Three-Eyed Golden Lion's eyes, Ye Wen could tell it was thoroughly enjoying its meal.

Still, Ye Wen couldn't help but mutter inwardly: 'Can a beast three meters long really eat that much and still feel full?'

At this moment, the well-fed Three-Eyed Golden Lion finally turned its attention toward Ye Wen and Huo Yuer.

Since its birth, the Three-Eyed Golden Lion had been well-protected by Di Tian and others. Moreover, as the Emperor Auspicious Beast, even the soul beasts it hunted dared only to flee rather than fight back. Hurting the Three-Eyed Golden Lion would result in the annihilation of their entire species.

As a result, the Three-Eyed Golden Lion's thoughts were purer than those of ordinary soul beasts. Its life had been so smooth that it lacked the usual wariness of danger.

The Three-Eyed Golden Lion had no intention of killing Ye Wen or Huo Yuer—they weren't on its menu. It was merely curious about the strange connection it felt with Huo Yuer.

Watching the Three-Eyed Golden Lion approach step by step, Ye Wen smiled faintly. 'Isn't this like delivering goods right to my doorstep?'

However, a flicker of doubt crossed Ye Wen's eyes. Wasn't there supposed to be a ferocious beast secretly guarding the Three-Eyed Golden Lion? Why hadn't any of them stepped forward to stop these two humans who were standing here so openly?

After all, humans were the greatest threat to soul beasts. Even though Ye Wen and Huo Yuer posed no real threat to a creature as powerful as the Three-Eyed Golden Lion, any injury sustained would still be a serious matter.

But just as Ye Wen waited for the Three-Eyed Golden Lion to come closer, a massive gravitational force suddenly enveloped the three of them.

"Hmm!? This is gravity control—no, this is a Gravity Domain!"

With his sharp perception, Ye Wen immediately recognized the cause of this phenomenon. Moreover, the technique carried a familiar energy signature.

A towering black figure came rushing in. Before the terrified eyes of the Three-Eyed Golden Lion, a hand reached out, attempting to capture it.

"Human, how dare you!!!"

At this moment, an equally domineering surge of soul power erupted from nearby. Ye Wen was certain—this was the soul power of a ferocious beast.

A realization flashed through Ye Wen's mind. It seemed that the protective ferocious beasts had grown complacent after years of peace. That was why they hadn't noticed Ye Wen and Huo Yuer earlier, who had barely used any soul power.

However, the attacker's actions were too conspicuous—it was impossible not to draw attention.

In that fleeting moment, Ye Wen ultimately decided to intervene. After all, the attacker's strength far surpassed what the guardian beasts could muster.

To avoid being put on the back foot later, Ye Wen swiftly moved to block the attacker's hand and, with a deft motion, flung the Three-Eyed Golden Lion away.

"Don't interfere!" the attacker roared, swinging a fist the size of a sandbag toward Ye Wen.

Ye Wen didn't hold back either. With a single whip-like kick, he sent the burly man flying backward.

"How drunk are you? Can't even recognize me?" Ye Wen said coldly.

That familiar voice had become a psychological shadow for Er Ming.

Ye Wen's attack hadn't been at full strength, and Er Ming, with his tough hide, wasn't seriously injured. He was about to rise and retaliate when he froze upon hearing that voice.

"It's you!" Er Ming exclaimed in disbelief.

To fulfill Tang San's orders, Er Ming had not dared to slack off. However, knowing the depth of the Star Dou Forest's dangers, he, like Ye Wen, hadn't used divine senses to conduct a large-scale search. Instead, he had relied purely on luck while wandering the forest for ten days or more.

Though this place had once been his homeland, having grown accustomed to human society, he now found it stifling and unpleasant.

Under such circumstances, finding the target had been no easy feat. If it had been an ordinary mission, Er Ming might have given up under Ye Wen's intimidation. But this Emperor Auspicious Beast was crucial to Tang Wulin's future and Tang San's plans.

Er Ming now had no choice but to press on!

Rising to his feet, Er Ming's eyes blazed with ferocity as he entered his True Body state. A mountainous Titan Ape appeared—the once King of the Great Star Dou Forest had returned!

"Tianxing Douluo! Let's not cross paths. Don't interfere, or I'll fight you to the death!"

With a thunderous roar, the Titan Ape extended its colossal hand, large enough to blot out the sky, aiming to grab the now tiny Three-Eyed Golden Lion, which looked no bigger than a chick in comparison.

But at this moment, a blazing crimson figure appeared on the scene.

Though slightly smaller than the towering Titan Ape, the Scarlet King's chiseled, rock-hard muscles and three fierce lion-like heads exuded an overwhelming aura of menace. Upon appearing, it immediately sank its teeth into the Titan Ape's outstretched arm.

The Scarlet King, ranked eighth among the Ten Fierce Beasts and originally a Three-Headed Crimson Demon Hound, had made its entrance.

The Titan Ape, in pain, instinctively swung its arm to throw the Scarlet King off. But the Scarlet King clamped down firmly, refusing to let go.
