Douluo: I am the True Master

Chapter 543: Chapter 543: The Star Dou Forest

Time passed swiftly, and the knowledge Ye Wen intended to disseminate was ultimately limited.

In the blink of an eye, six years had passed since Tianxing Academy first arrived in this world. During these six years, the exchange students from Shrek Academy and the Sun Moon Empire had finally mastered the technique of Ten Thousand Forgings for Spiritual Metals, significantly accelerating the tense situation on the Douluo Continent.

After six years, Huo Yuer and her peers had grown from blossoming young girls into stunning beauties.

However, their strength hadn't increased significantly. After all, the soul-guided armor Ye Wen had provided them with acted as a nearly insurmountable barrier before they reached Level 70 cultivation.

The one noteworthy development was that Huo Yuer's mastery of ultimate ice had become even more terrifying. Over the past six years, the remaining Great Beasts of the Far North had consecutively sacrificed themselves to her, turning her once-lagging soul power into her greatest strength.

Even so, despite such "cheating," she still hadn't reached Level 70.

But Ye Wen wasn't in a hurry. Good things come to those who wait.

Having soul power without combat skills could easily lead to failure. Therefore, over these six years, Ye Wen had subjected Huo Yuer to extremely rigorous training in combat techniques. By now, it was safe to say that no one on the Douluo Continent could surpass her in close combat. Moreover, her terrifying Ice Empress martial soul compensated for the shortcomings of her Spirit Eye martial soul in battle.

Huo Yuer had truly become invincible at her level.

However, at this moment, Huo Yuer was somewhat puzzled because Ye Wen was leading her toward the Star Dou Forest.

But she hadn't yet reached Level 70, and Ye Wen had always provided artificial soul rings to his disciples—why would they need to hunt for souls now? In Huo Yuer's memory, soul hunting had long become an outdated concept.

Still, Ye Wen didn't rush their journey. Instead, it seemed like he was letting Huo Yuer enjoy a breath of fresh air, experiencing the local customs and culture of the Douluo Continent. Though, to Huo Yuer, this "culture" appeared rather ugly.

At sixteen or seventeen, the age when youthful hearts begin to stir, Huo Yuer occasionally stole admiring glances at Ye Wen but quickly buried those feelings deep within.

She knew she was far too weak, while Ye Wen was so lofty. There was no possibility between them now, but this unfulfillable longing became one of her driving forces to grow stronger.

This mindset stemmed from Ye Wen's teachings—that power was everything, and to change her circumstances, she must strive to become stronger.

Though this forbidden affection couldn't be spoken aloud, Huo Yuer still wanted to be closer to Ye Wen. Pretending to be casual, she asked,

"Master, you've been acting so mysterious since bringing me out here. Shouldn't you tell me why we're going to the Great Star Dou Forest by now?"

Her voice carried a hint of coquettishness, but Ye Wen didn't notice the subtle emotions behind her words.

Ye Wen glanced at the distant Star Dou Forest, which had shrunk considerably compared to ten thousand years ago. No, it should now simply be called the Star Dou Forest—the "Great" no longer suited it. In another ten thousand years, this so-called Star Dou Forest would be completely enclosed by humans with walls of steel, becoming a prison for soul beasts—a truly absurd fate.

Ten thousand years ago, there had been god-level beings residing within it. A mere flick of their fingers could have improved the situation. Unfortunately, the two so-called rulers of the soul beasts were complete fools.

Unfit for their positions, they deserved to be outwitted by the Tang God King.

After pondering briefly, Ye Wen said, "Do you remember the knowledge I once taught you about fortune?"

Though she didn't know why Ye Wen brought this up, Huo Yuer was proud to recount the lesson. Not only was she the top in cultivation, but she also excelled in theoretical studies among her fellow disciples. With pride, she recited:

"Master, you once taught us that fortune, though intangible and invisible, is real. It accompanies every living being throughout their lives.

Among the vast multitude, there are those favored by fortune. Such beings are called 'Children of Fortune.'

And I haven't forgotten, Master—you said I am one of these Children of Fortune. How's that? I remember clearly, right? Hehe."

With a coy smile, Huo Yuer leaned against Ye Wen's shoulder, seeking praise.

Ye Wen sighed. She was already a grown girl, yet she still acted like a little girl. Still, he affectionately patted her head, as she was practically raised by him.

However, Ye Wen corrected her statement: "You missed one point. These so-called Children of Fortune aren't limited to humans—they can appear in any form of life."

Huo Yuer's confident expression faltered, and she awkwardly scratched her head. She had gotten carried away earlier and forgotten to mention this part.

Still, it was no big deal, and her curiosity was piqued. She asked,

"So, how does this relate to our trip to the Star Dou Forest?"

Ye Wen shook his head helplessly. She was such a clever child—why did she always pretend to be clueless in front of him? With a touch of exasperation, he flicked her forehead with his index finger and said,

"You, stop pretending to be dumb in front of me.

Didn't I just make it clear? We're here to find a soul beast that is a Child of Fortune."

Huo Yuer accepted Ye Wen's "punishment" without resistance, though outwardly she promised not to do it again, inwardly she thought, 'I'll do it again.'

After all, though she knew this affection was forbidden, she couldn't resist yearning for its beauty. This was the only way she could express it.

Though Huo Yuer's cultivation cap remained at Soul Sage, her true explosive power rivaled that of a top-tier Soul Douluo.

Thus, the two didn't take a detour and instead headed straight toward the core of the Star Dou Forest.

Compared to the era of Da Ming and Er Ming ten thousand years ago, the Star Dou Forest now housed higher-quality soul beasts. There was no other choice—if the soul beasts didn't grow stronger, they would face extinction, and the quality of human soul rings would plummet.

However, since Ye Wen bore no ill intentions, he instructed Huo Yuer to show mercy and spare the lives of the soul beasts that attacked them.

Still… under Ye Wen's guidance, Huo Yuer used extreme measures to beat the attacking soul beasts until they were unable to fight back before stopping.

It was fair to say that these soul beasts suffered greatly.

But Ye Wen didn't stop Huo Yuer's brutal actions. After all, this was the way of the world—survival of the fittest. Letting them live was already an act of kindness.

As for whether other soul beasts would scavenge their bodies, that was their own destiny.
