Chapter 438: Chapter 437: The Charming Nana Offers Herself as a Servant
Back at Shrek Academy, Qian Ran had enjoyed the luxury of living in a private villa, with attendants catering to his every need. Life was comfortable and carefree. When he arrived at the Sun Moon Royal Academy, he thought he would have to retreat to the Xumi Ring to spend time with Xue Di, Bing Di, and Huo Yun'er for any semblance of the good life. But to his surprise, the Sun Moon Royal Academy had been thoughtful enough to send him these girls.
Well, well, Qian Ran thought with a smirk.
He wasn't naive enough to think his time with them would be limited to "learning and cultivating together."
In terms of knowledge of soul tools or cultivation insights, Qian Ran was already at the pinnacle of the era. There was little, if anything, he could gain from them.
After exchanging a few pleasantries, Keke and the others left, seemingly satisfied.
"Qian Ran, that guy…" Keke muttered to herself as she walked away, constantly glancing back toward his dorm.
After witnessing Qian Ran's strength earlier in the day, she had immediately gone to investigate his background.
Information on Qian Ran was surprisingly easy to find. Shrek Academy had never been shy about showcasing his unparalleled talent. Once she pieced together everything, Keke finally realized how extraordinary Qian Ran truly was.
Not just at the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineering Academy, but across the entire continent, Qian Ran was an unmatched genius.
The thought that they had dared to act arrogant in front of him earlier made Keke blush with embarrassment.
After learning everything about him, her curiosity about Qian Ran deepened.
How could Shrek Academy bear to send someone like him to the Sun Moon Royal Academy? Shouldn't they be protecting such a monstrous talent at all costs? And how did someone with two powerful martial souls even have the time to study soul tools? The whole situation seemed impossible.
That was why Keke had shown up outside his dorm in the first place.
"I have to tell Juzi about this right away," Keke said, quickening her pace. But thinking about Juzi's martial soul, she sighed in frustration.
Juzi's ability to cultivate to the Soul King level with her orange martial soul was already an extraordinary feat. Advancing further was nearly impossible. Keke's situation was slightly better, but not by much.
The idea of Qian Ran effortlessly breaking through to Titled Douluo-level cultivation filled her with envy.
How many soul masters in the Sun Moon Empire could confidently say they would break through to Titled Douluo without relying on artificial enhancements? Very few.
"Why are you still hiding?"
After everyone else had left, Qian Ran didn't return to his dorm immediately. Instead, he looked toward the shadows.
From the dimly lit corner, a tall girl stepped out hesitantly after hearing his voice.
She had healthy tan skin, a striking contrast to the usual fair complexion of girls in the Sun Moon Empire. Her figure was slim and athletic, and she stood over 1.8 meters tall—a height that surprised Qian Ran.
Even on the Douluo Continent, women of such stature were rare.
Petite girls like Keke, who stood around 1.6 meters tall, were far more common. A height of 1.8 meters was considered exceptionally tall and elegant.
As she approached, Qian Ran noticed her nervous expression. Her dark red hair was tied into a high ponytail, giving her a sharp and spirited look. Dressed in the yellow academy uniform, she exuded an air of valiant charm.
"I…" The girl seemed flustered as she looked at Qian Ran.
"Let's start with your identity. If I'm not mistaken, you were with Keke and the others earlier. Are you here to be my study partner too?" Qian Ran asked, a playful grin tugging at his lips. Her return intrigued him.
Most of the women in Qian Ran's life had fair, delicate skin. This was the first time he'd encountered someone with such a healthy tan. Far from detracting from her beauty, it accentuated her vibrant, striking appearance.
Of course, her natural beauty was the real foundation—less attractive features might not have carried the same charm. There was a reason so many women sought fairer skin—it could hide imperfections.
"I'm from the Control Soul Tool Division. My name is Nana," she said softly, standing obediently before Qian Ran.
"Nana?"
Qian Ran's eyes widened in recognition.
The name was familiar. Nana's martial soul was a ghost, and her parents' souls had been imprisoned by the Holy Spirit Cult. In the original story, Nana had pleaded with Huo Yuhao to rescue her parents, even offering herself as a servant in exchange.
While Qian Ran knew of her backstory, he had never known what she looked like.
Seeing her now, he was pleasantly surprised. Nana's striking height and athletic beauty stood out, especially with her radiant tan complexion.
"What do you want from me?" Qian Ran asked with a smile, already guessing her intentions.
It was likely the same as in the original story—she wanted help saving her parents from the Holy Spirit Cult.
Given her martial soul and its connection to the cult, she must have learned that the Six-Winged Angel martial soul was one of the greatest counters to evil soul masters.
She had probably been aware of Qian Ran since the last Advanced Soul Master Tournament and had been waiting for an opportunity like this.
"Can we talk inside?" Nana asked hesitantly.
"Come in," Qian Ran said, opening the door. Nana stepped inside without hesitation and locked the door behind her.
Then, without warning, she knelt before him.
"Qian Ran, you're a descendant of the Spirit Hall. Your martial soul is the Six-Winged Angel, isn't it?" Nana asked, her tearful eyes looking up at him.
"Yes," Qian Ran nodded.
Hearing his confirmation, Nana's eyes lit up with a mix of excitement and sorrow.
"Please, help me! I'll do anything if you're willing to help. I beg you!" Nana clasped his legs, her tears streaming down her face.
Seeing her genuine grief, Qian Ran felt a twinge of sympathy.
"Explain what you want me to help with. If it's within my power, I'll do it," he said, frowning slightly.
Nana took a deep breath to steady herself, then began recounting her story.
"I was born into a noble family. My father was a hereditary baron of the Sun Moon Empire—a title among the lowest ranks of nobility. Although we didn't have any fiefs, we owned some farmland and shops, so we lived comfortably. My father's innate martial soul lacked soul power, so he couldn't become a soul master…"
"…"
"They called themselves the Holy Spirit Cult—a mysterious organization. When they took me, they told me they had imprisoned my parents' souls. They even showed me their tortured souls as proof. My parents… they were in so much pain! They told me that if I wanted my parents' souls to find peace, I had to obey them. Otherwise, my parents would be condemned to eternal suffering," Nana said, her voice trembling. Her body quaked slightly as she spoke, her emotions teetering on the edge.
"That's enough. You want me to save your parents, don't you? I'll agree. In fact, I can even help them appear before you again," Qian Ran said with a faint smile.
His soul skill, Undead Legion, didn't have many spirits under its control yet. A sweep of a Holy Spirit Cult stronghold would likely yield a substantial harvest.
As for Nana's parents, with Qian Ran's permission, their souls could retain their consciousness and live on as sentient undead.
