Chapter 93 – Try Awakening?
"Uwwwwwwwooouuuhhhhh!!!! Kchuukkkkk!"
"Oye, you okay?" Boruto walked behind Guren, hearing the voice of him vomiting in the bushes.
"Stay back..."
"But..."
"Stay here, Boruto," Sarada stopped him, looking away, "He just doesn't want anyone to see him like that."
"Geez, his physical quality sucks," Boruto scratched his cheek, looking away.
It was just a few weeks ago when the battle against the Hollow happened, and he had been in a good mood ever since. But then he heard that even Mom was excellent, and she could rival his father in terms of battle power. And now, she was being assigned as Guren's Protector and Future Teacher.
He thought his mother would be gentle, who could have thought that she made him run like a dog, knowing that he didn't have enough stamina to run.
Guren straightened his body, wiping his face with the towel hanging around his shoulder.
"There are still five more rounds to go, you know," Sarada crossed her arms, shifting her weight, watching him.
"Fuck," Guren resting his head back starting to drag his legs, running forward circles around the city. The crazy this was that Konoha had grown so much, and running just one loop of the village was crazy, let alone ten, "This is pure revenge..."
"I am enjoying it," Sarada followed after him, smiling, "Who asked you not to train ever."
"It's not like... anyone never lasted that long in a fight...it barely took a look to put Boruto on his knees."
"Hey! It wasn't like that!" Boruto trembled, "How about we fight again!"
"Right...of course...now that I am on my last legs," Guren glanced back, rolling his eyes.
"Ughkk!" Boruto was taken aback, "You...Kuh! Later! Then later!"
Guren dragged his legs, jogging with everything he had. Even though his body was starting to give up, he could still control this with his soul. His body was paining, but that didn't matter, "As long...as I...keep running..."
He closed his eyes, continuing running until his body gave up on the sixth round, but Sarada caught him.
"Congratulation...you made it to the sixth round this time."
"That's good news, right," Mitsuki appeared in front of them, smiling.
"Yeah, but it's nothing compared to me," Boruto curled his lips, "Now we have to carry him back..."
"It won't...be the same...I have an idea...I can awaken my eye..." Guren put his head on Sarada's shoulder as she carried him on her back.
Mitsuki blinked, "So soon? How?"
"You'll...see..." Guren mysteriously smiled, closing his eyes, letting Sarada carry him.
"What about your eye, Boruto?" Mitsuki asked, tilting his head.
"I'll awaken it soon!" Boruto puffed his chest out, saying with hollow confidence.
"I see," Mitsuki seemingly believed him.
Sarada thoughtfully walked back home, thinking whether she'd awaken an eye or not. They took the train, letting Guren rest a little before she had to carry him again, reaching home.
"We are back."
"How far," Hinata was sitting on the sofa, reading a magazine as she looked up, asking.
"Six Rounds."
"That's progress," Hinata smiled as Sarada placed Guren on the sofa.
Guren sat up, his body leaning on Hinata's shoulder, his eyes blurry, "I think...I can awaken my eye. Can we go somewhere where others aren't around?"
"You can?" Hinata tilted her head, "How?"
"Right, if you could, then you would have already. Why would you run if you could just awaken it?" Boruto raised his eyebrow.
"Because there is a difference...one way is the easy way...and I'll learn nothing from that. Also, it's dangerous; the eye might be too much of a burden and cripple my body. The other is the smart way of gaining power," Guren closed his eyes, "You are too used to taking the easy way, so you don't understand...it's what makes you so weak."
"Okay," Hinata stopped them, "I'll take you."
Mitsuki tilted his head, "Would you mind if I come?"
"I want to see it too."
"I am coming as well..." Boruto pouted, curling his lips.
Central Forest, Crater,
Guren took a shuddering breath, taking out a scroll, summoning a box.
"Is that...?"
"The sedative that Sumire gave me," Guren opened the box, revealing an injection and a bottle.
"You can't be serious!" Boruto looked at him in shock.
"That's actually brilliant," Mitsuki clapped his hand, "The last time your eye activated when you used a sedative. So the best answer is to use one again."
"But...Guren..." Hinata frowned.
"Yeah, last time I was motivated...I had the will to stop Sumire no matter what...so I had to train for a few weeks to my last breath...push forward a step by step, so I know...I had the willpower to do this," Guren prepared the injection, closing his eyes inserting it in his arm.
Boruto and Sarada were taken aback, but the longer they waited, the more awkward atmosphere became, "So...you are going to sleep or not?"
Guren tilted his head in confusion, "It's not working...did my body become that strong in a few weeks?"
He took out more boxes like that from the scroll, inserting another, but it still didn't have any effect, so he inserted another, "And yet...nothing..."
Guren stopped holding his hair, thinking, "Hmm, Mitsuki, you control snakes, right?"
"Right."
"Paralytic snake?"
"I might have one or two? Do you wish for me to use it?"
"Depends," Guren remembered something, "Aunt Hinata, don't you have Byakugan? Can you see what are the effects of another injection?"
"Yeah, Byakugan!" Hinata made a hand sign, readying her Byakugan, "Now, try again."
Guren injected it with his chakra, inserting it, letting Hinata follow it in his veins. But the more she saw, the more her eyes widened, "What is...going on?"
"What? What? Mom?"
"It's like...something is fighting against...no something is crushing every bit of it. It's like antibodies..."
"Hmm," Guren wasn't all that surprised as he leaned back, "I see...I wonder..."
"You wonder if it's the nature of your body or those eyes of yours at work?" Mitsuki curiously raised a white snake, "Shall we test it out?"
"Yeah..." Guren raised his right hand, letting the snake bit his finger. He felt the paralytic poison spread throughout his body, nearly falling backward, but Hinata held him.
(Work...work...work...Move!!! Moveeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!! Moveeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!)
Guren screamed inside his head, trying to move as best as possible when the others saw. A violet shine rise in his black eyes and disappears right after.
Guren's finger started moving, followed by his hand, before his body was free of the paralysis, "Moveeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Guren stepped forward, falling on his knees, gasping for breath, "It...doesn't...it doesn't consume my chakra or energy..."
"Huh...I see!" Sarada widened her eyes, "You used all your stamina on purpose."
"Right, if he had full stamina, then you wouldn't notice a sap of chakra or stamina. But if you have too little...you would notice every bit of it," Mitsuki squatted, smiling, "You are brilliant."
"So are you two," Guren smiled, "Now... let's try this again, shall we."
"Gladly."
