Chapter 304: Chapter 301: Meeting Tiamat

The roaring flames completely engulfed the small house where the Eternals once lived.

But Australia had always been a vast, sparsely populated land, and its development hadn't been very advanced during this time. Because of Thena's Mahd Wy'ry, Gilgamesh had chosen an extremely remote place to live in seclusion. So, not to mention a small fire—even if someone dropped a few missiles here, there might still be no one who knew what happened.

"Phew, it's finally over!" Ophelia, looking a bit messy, wiped the sweat from her forehead as she stared at the burning building.

Behind her stood the entire first squad of Jedi Knights and hundreds of robot soldiers. The Jedi Knights also looked beaten, and some of them were badly injured. Many of the robot soldiers were missing arms or legs.

Thena and Sprite knelt beside her, completely unable to defend themselves. Their shoulder blades were chained with vibranium, and their bodies were tightly bound with vibranium shackles and chains. As for Phastos—he had already ended up like Druig and Makkari, turned into a few broken limbs, which were being cleaned up and packed into a recovery box by some robots.

It was clear, just as Josh had thought, that Phastos alone, plus Thena with her Mahd Wy'ry, still couldn't be taken lightly.

Even with the full force of Jedi Knights and hundreds of robot soldiers, they had suffered quite a few casualties.

Fortunately, Josh had come well prepared. Both the squad and the robots were equipped with plenty of vibranium gear. After a fierce battle, they finally managed to capture Thena.

As for Sprite? That was just a bonus.

"Over? It's not that simple!" At that moment, Josh's voice came from behind them.

Everyone turned around to see that Josh and Xu Wenwu had somehow appeared behind them.

Seeing the two of them, Thena, who had been staring blankly after being captured, suddenly widened her eyes. Xu Wenwu was carrying a large body that was now dull and lifeless, with darkened skin.

Who could it be but Gilgamesh?

After a long and fierce battle, Gilgamesh, the current leader of the Eternals, was finally killed by Xu Wenwu.

But Xu Wenwu didn't get off easy either. Gilgamesh's power was stronger than he had imagined. If the Ten Rings hadn't been so special, and if he hadn't been warned beforehand—plus the vibranium armor Josh had specially prepared for him—he might have lost his life right there when Gilgamesh unleashed his terrifying power at the end.

"What? Haven't we already taken care of all the Eternals?" Ophelia asked, confused.

"That is true. But don't forget—they still have the Celestials behind them," Josh said as he thought about the metal sphere in the system inventory. That sphere represented the leader of the Eternals and was also the device used to contact Arishem, the Celestial.

The moment Gilgamesh was killed, the metal sphere left his body and tried to escape. But Josh was already prepared. He stopped it and sealed it inside the system inventory.

And he had to admit—System Inventory was incredibly powerful. It surpassed even the Celestials. Once the metal ball was placed inside, it froze like everything else stored inside.

But Josh knew that this was only a temporary solution.

The Eternals had either been killed or captured by him, and the communicator was now under his control. This had indeed cut Arishem off from Earth and kept him from knowing who was behind the attack on the Eternals—after all, without a user, the metal orb wouldn't send out signals on its own. Otherwise, Arishem would have known immediately who killed Ajak in the movie.

But the lack of updates from the Eternals was a problem in itself.

Josh was sure that if nothing else was done, Arishem would eventually realize that something was wrong on Earth and either send someone or come himself to investigate.

"So what do we do now?" Ophelia and the others looked uncomfortable after hearing this. Even Xu Wenwu, who had been hired for the job, looked worried.

"Don't worry," Josh said with a smile, pointing at Thena and Sprite, who were now glaring at him with pure hatred. "We still have two of them alive, don't we?"

At this point, it wasn't hard for them to figure out that the man in front of them was the mastermind behind everything that had happened to them.

"Do you think they'll cooperate with you?" Xu Wenwu asked curiously as he handed over Gilgamesh's body to a nearby robot.

When this all started, he thought it was just a special assassination mission. But after spending some time with Josh, he realized that this young man had far more secrets than he'd ever imagined. If not for his own code of honor—and the fact that he wasn't sure he could win—he might've already tried to capture Josh and force some answers out of him.

"You've been wondering why I insisted on killing them, right?" Josh asked, nodding at Gilgamesh's remains.

"Wasn't it because that speedster stole your stuff, and because the Eternals were supposed to make sure the Celestial was born—which would destroy humanity?" Xu Wenwu replied.

"You're right, that's the superficial reason. But in reality, it's not just my decision. It's the will of someone deeper underground," Josh said, revealing a shocking truth that left everyone—including the two remaining Eternals—stunned.

"That's impossible!" Thena and Sprite looked completely shaken. Josh's allies and Xu Wenwu were just confused, but the two Eternals couldn't accept it at all.

They already knew that they had been sent to Earth to protect Tiamut and ensure her birth. Even if they had been misled and didn't really have free will, they were still on Tiamut's side.

Now Josh was saying that the one who wanted to destroy the Eternals… was Tiamut?

How could they accept that?

It was like raising a child your whole life, only for that child to stab you in the back one day—ah, Arthas, no, this isn't about you.

"Is this for real?" After Josh explained everything in detail, even Xu Wenwu was shocked, not just the two Eternals.

A god who could have stood above everything... was willing to sacrifice himself to protect humanity?

What kind of great and selfless feeling was that?

""If you don't believe me, come meet Tiamat with me—you'll see for yourself," Josh said with a smile, seeing the look on Xu Wenwu's face.

What? Xu Wenwu was even more confused now.

Meet Tiamut? How? Wasn't Tiamut still just a celestial embryo deep inside the planet? No one even knew how far down she was—how could they meet her?

But after Josh explained, it all began to make sense.

Back when Josh had a vision of Tiamat in his dream last year, he secretly spent a huge amount of money to buy development rights for Spain's Canary Islands, located in the Atlantic near West Africa, from Franco.

These islands were the exact location of the Eternals' final battle and Tiamat's appearance in the movie. It was also the closest point to Tiamat's head—about 40,000 meters underground.

After getting the rights, Josh began buying more construction robots from Lawrence in the I, Robot Universe, adding to the millions he already had. They worked non-stop, day and night, carefully digging and drilling around the clock.

To focus on this, Josh even shut down other major projects like Jurassic Park, Sulawesi, and others.

Finally, about a week before he met Xu Wenwu, they reached Tiamat's location underground.

And that was when Josh had his first direct contact with Tiamat.

Good thing he never planned to betray her—going up against a real Celestial would've been suicide.

Xu Wenwu, listening to Josh speak so casually, couldn't help but feel a little uneasy. He was confident in his strength, sure, but not arrogant. Even an Ancient One was beyond him—what could he do against an actual god?

Even if that god was still technically a "baby".

Josh had his reasons for telling all this to Xu Wenwu—he was trying to win him over.

Despite his bloody and ambitious past, Xu Wenwu was someone who valued loyalty and emotion. He was definitely more reliable than the Council of Nine.

As long as they got along, even if Josh couldn't control him completely, he could still be a powerful ally.

And with the resources Josh now had, he wasn't really afraid of being betrayed.

Soon, Josh left others to clean up the site and boarded a plane with Xu Wenwu, his two most trusted subordinates, and a few Eternal Corpses. They flew to the part of the West African Sea where Tiamat rested.

After a few hours and crossing half the globe, the plane landed on Fuerteventura, one of the Canary Islands and the location of the drill site.

"You really managed to drill a 40,000 meter deep shaft in a place like this? That's impressive. But are you sure it's safe?" Xu Wenwu asked as he looked out from the plane at the volcanic crater below, where thin plumes of smoke were billowing into the sky.

He wasn't wrong to be worried. Just like in the movie, Fuerteventura was a volcanic island—an active one, at that.

In fact, not only Fuerteventura, but most of the Canary Islands were active volcanoes. Eruptions occurred regularly, every few decades or so.

The islands themselves were basically made of hardened lava, cooled and built up over millions of years.

But with Tiamat resting deep beneath them, such intense volcanic activity didn't seem so surprising.

"Normally, a project like this would be incredibly difficult and dangerously risky," Josh said with a sigh, clearly emotional as he looked around. "But luckily we had vibranium... And don't even think about asking for more. Almost half of my entire supply went into this. What I sold you? That was the limit."

Digging over 40,000 meters deep—Josh knew full well that this was beyond the reach of any nation from his previous life's world. Even in the Red Alert universe, no one had ever done anything this extreme.

Without a special material like Vibranium, even the combined brilliance of Yuri's and Lawrence's worlds couldn't have guaranteed success. The temperature and pressure so far underground, not to mention the complex geological issues, would have destroyed any hope of success.

Even with vibranium's extraordinary durability, the drilling had suffered more than a dozen serious accidents and consumed a frightening amount of the metal.

If it weren't for an army of tireless, emotionless robots and the massive supply of vibranium Josh had acquired from the last remnants of Wakanda, the whole operation would have collapsed long ago.

But in the long run, Josh knew it was all worth it.

After all, gaining access to Tiamat—a not-yet-born Celestial—was a reward no price could match.

When Xu Wenwu heard Josh mention the cost and his refusal to offer more vibranium, he gave a small shrug of regret.

Truth be told, one of the reasons he took this job—besides curiosity and the thrill—was the lure of vibranium. Even though its existence was no longer a real secret, the supply was still tightly controlled by a few world powers.

Even the Ten Rings could only get scraps through shady channels.

If he could have gotten more, he would have.

However, since Josh was firm on the matter, Xu Wenwu wisely let it go. He agreed with the man anyway—if the price of connecting with Tiamat was that high, so be it.

After all, Vibranium, as strong as it was, was still just metal. It couldn't destroy planets.

But a Celestial?

Yeah, they definitely could.

Tiamat might still be trapped and seemingly willing to die… but until the day she actually fades away, anything could happen.

"Suit up," Josh said, gesturing toward the suits being delivered by robots. "There's no oxygen down there, and the heat is way beyond what humans can handle."

After landing, the group was led by robots to a massive construction site on the island.

At the center of it all was a huge, uniquely designed structure.

And at its heart, a large elevator shaft.

It was the only way down to Tiamat.

Before they could descend, both men had to gear up in these vibranium-made suits—specially designed like astronaut gear, to withstand the crushing pressure and scorching heat of the planet's depths.
