Dimensional Trader in Marvel

Chapter 188: Chapter 187: Infiltration! (2) (Bonus Chapter 1)

The Black Panther statue was not only a monument, but also an observation platform and, in the future, an entry point for vertical takeoff aircraft.

Wakandan technology hadn't yet reached that level of advancement, so their planes still needed runways like those of other nations.

Upon hearing Carter's decision, Luc and Andrew exchanged glances, nodded, and removed their disguises, activating their jetpacks.

Meanwhile, the vibranium mine guards realized that the three were intruders and immediately raised their weapons to fire.

In this era, Wakanda's ranged weapons weren't the advanced hand-held sonic cannons of the future, but rather a type of bow.

In the future, Wakanda's fearsome weapons would be the result of combining outside technological theories with the properties of Vibranium, leading to breakthroughs such as ultra-durable batteries and wireless energy transfer.

After all, for all its power, vibranium was still just a metal. It wasn't a power source.

Without a power source, vibranium-based tools—like Captain America's shield—were just high-tech melee weapons.

Still, these bows were deadly. Their vibranium-tipped arrows retained kinetic energy far better than ordinary projectiles, making them as lethal as the full-power rifle bullets of the day.

If not for the quick reflexes of Carter's team, they might have been turned into pincushions on the spot.

Dodging the volley of arrows, the trio quickly activated their jetpacks and climbed to the observation platform in the center of the Black Panther statue.

Carter's decision proved correct. Suspended hundreds of meters above the ground, the platform was undefended, as it was not a priority in the current situation.

However, they had to move quickly. Guards from other areas would soon arrive at their position—the alarm had been sounded the moment they entered.

"My God, is all this Vibranium?" Luc exclaimed as they stepped from the observation platform into the mountain.

The eyes of Carter and her team instantly widened.

Over the past millennia, the Wakandans had hollowed out the interior of the mountain, creating an incredibly vast interior space. The rock walls were lined with raw vibranium ore, glowing a faint blue.

"Such a vast reserve of rare resources in the hands of these ignorant fuckers! God must have been blind!" Andrew's greedy gaze swept over the Vibranium ore as he scorned the Wakandans.

Hearing his comment, Carter and Luc both instinctively frowned.

Due to the prejudices of the time, they too held subtle prejudices against blacks, but refrained from openly degrading or insulting them.

Andrew, however, was clearly different. His contempt for Wakandans was blatant, and his lust for Vibranium obvious.

How did someone with such a mindset survive the Super Soldier Serum enhancement?

Carter couldn't help but think of Johann Schmidt—the infamous Red Skull.

"All right, this is no time to be distracted. I think this is where we need to go!" Carter suppressed her uneasiness and pointed to the towering, spire-like structure in the center of the mountain that stretched all the way to the top.

Thanks to their superhuman vision, the three easily made out the transparent building. Inside, scientists in lab coats and Wakandan guards in traditional uniforms were frantically destroying documents and moving supplies.

As Carter had suspected, the Wakandans were preparing to evacuate.

Their arrival had triggered an alarm, causing the tower's occupants to accelerate their efforts.

Meanwhile, they could see the Wakandan guards from the base and surrounding areas moving toward them.

"Ignore them! Let's head straight for them!" Carter ordered as she activated her jetpack and flew directly towards the central research facility, aiming to break through the glass and storm inside.

But... BAM!

The expected shattering of glass didn't happen.

Instead, Carter's situation resembled a moth slamming into a window. She failed to break the glass and ended up dazed from the impact.

If it weren't for her super-soldier physique, the high-speed collision caused by the jetpack would have been fatal to a normal person.

Although Carter survived, she temporarily lost consciousness and was unable to control her jetpack. She began to free-fall toward the base of the mountain.

Fortunately, Luc, who had been following closely, accelerated just in time to catch her before she hit the ground.

A fall of hundreds of meters would have been fatal, even for a super soldier.

"Captain Carter, are you all right?" Luc shook her gently after catching her.

"I'm fine, just a little dizzy," Carter waved her hand, signaling that she was okay, though her expression betrayed some embarrassment.

She hadn't expected the glass in Wakanda to be so strong.

"This glass seems to be made of an unusual material. I suspect the Wakandans may have added vibranium to it," Andrew commented as he tapped the glass with his fist.

Carter and Luc then noticed that while the glass appeared transparent from the front, it shimmered a faint blue from the side—a clear sign of vibranium being added.

Adding metal to glass wasn't a new concept; many colored glasses were made by introducing trace amounts of metal oxides.

So incorporating vibranium into the glass to increase its strength was plausible, though the amount would likely be minimal.

"Let me handle this!" Understanding the situation, Carter drew her vibranium sword.

While glass reinforced with a small amount of Vibranium was durable, it was no match for a sword with a significantly higher Vibranium content.

With a single swing, the Vibranium glass shattered loudly.

The scientists behind the glass, who initially thought Carter's team couldn't break through, immediately panicked and fled.

Their reaction was expected—they were not warriors and lacked the courage to resist invaders.

Only a handful of guards stepped forward to confront Carter and her team.

But their efforts were futile against three super soldiers.

As Carter, Luc, and Andrew wreaked havoc inside the mine, the unknown figure following them arrived at the mine entrance on a motorcycle.

By now, most of the guards at the entrance had rushed inside to deal with Carter's team, leaving only four.

The newcomer quickly eliminated the four guards before casually entering the mine.
