Chapter 146: Uncle Qins Spiritual Chicken Soup
Liu Xing stopped in his tracks, feigning nonchalance, and said, "Yeah, I just finished shopping and saw Captain Luo returning from the post office, so I hitched a ride with him and came back together."
Uncle Qin chuckled, his eyes twinkling with meaning, and said, "So, Captain Luo must have told you something, right?"
Liu Xing’s eyebrows furrowed, and he discreetly glanced at the monitoring screen to ensure that there were no cameras that could have captured his earlier conversation with Captain Luo.
"Uh, Uncle Qin, what do you mean by that? I don’t understand at all," Liu Xing said, pulling out a bottle of white wine from his pocket and walking over with a smile.
Uncle Qin took the wine from Liu Xing’s hand, chuckling, and said, "You should understand what I mean, Liu Xing. Let me put it this way: do you really believe what Captain Luo said?"
Liu Xing was taken aback by Uncle Qin’s words, but quickly regained his composure. Since he had already triggered the Hidden Quests, it meant that Captain Luo’s words were true.
So, Liu Xing said seriously, "Since you’re saying this, Uncle Qin, I’ll be honest too. I do believe what Captain Luo said, because it makes a lot of sense."
Liu Xing was trying to probe Uncle Qin, wanting to see if he knew what Captain Luo had told him. After all, Liu Xing suspected that Uncle Qin was trying to deceive him, and since they had returned together, Uncle Qin was likely just guessing what Captain Luo had said.
It seemed that Uncle Qin was not the old, naive man Liu Xing had imagined, but a cunning old fox.
Uncle Qin raised an eyebrow, clearly aware that Liu Xing was trying to test him, and chuckled, "Well, I may not be educated, but I’m confident in my understanding of human nature. So, since you’re willing to give me wine, I’ll offer you some advice. First, there’s no free lunch in this world; everyone has their own interests. Second, don’t blindly believe what others say, as everyone’s perspective is limited and can lead to biased judgments. Finally, don’t take things at face value; you need to see things for yourself to make a correct judgment."Liu Xing nodded with a smile, but thought to himself that Uncle Qin’s long-winded speech was just a bunch of empty, feel-good advice, without any substance.
However, Liu Xing suddenly realized a problem - why would Captain Luo say those things to him?
Logically speaking, Captain Luo had only known him for a few hours, yet they were discussing such "explosive" topics. Wouldn’t Captain Luo be afraid that Liu Xing would report back to Professor Yang?
So, Liu Xing began to suspect that Captain Luo had ulterior motives, and that’s why he was telling him these things. For instance, was he trying to send him to his death?!
Curiosity kills the cat, and this wasn’t a joke.
Thinking about this, Liu Xing really felt like speaking but had no evidence, and then directly ran out of the treatment center, because Liu Xing felt that the current treatment center was like a calm lake on the surface, but beneath the surface, it was a constantly erupting volcano!
Liu Xing suspected that if he made one wrong move, he might end up with no place to rest his bones.
Welfare module, haha.
Liu Xing thought for a moment and finally decided to find Zhang Jingxu and others, tell them everything, and then make a decision.
"Liu Xing, I’ve known Captain Luo for a while, and I can tell you that Captain Luo is definitely not a good person. Don’t be fooled by him, and don’t randomly snoop around Professor Yang’s business. Some things are better left unknown," Uncle Qin said, then opened a bottle of white wine and started drinking alone.
Liu Xing nodded silently, then left the guard room.
Back in his office, Liu Xing put his things on the desk, closed the door, and then collapsed onto the metal bed frame, emptying his mind.
After exchanging words with Captain Luo and Uncle Qin, Liu Xing’s brain was now a jumbled mess. To put it simply, Liu Xing had received too much information in the short span of half an hour and couldn’t react quickly enough.
So, Liu Xing decided to clear his mind.
After a while, Liu Xing fell asleep...
Unknowingly, Liu Xing woke up from his dream, looking at the ceiling with a confused expression. How did he fall asleep?
Dazed, Liu Xing sat up, gazing out the window at the dark night, and suddenly realized that the things he had left on his desk were all gone.
Liu Xing was certain that he had locked the door after returning to his office, and the door could only be opened from the outside with a key or by force.
Liu Xing looked at the still-closed door and was certain that the person who took his things had used a key to enter.
Liu Xing thought carefully, and generally speaking, only he, Professor Yang, and Captain Luo had keys to this office. After all, as the boss of the treatment center, Professor Yang would have a set of keys to all the doors, and Captain Luo, who was responsible for patrolling the entire treatment center, would also have some keys, except for places like the second treatment room, which was off-limits.
However, Liu Xing really couldn’t figure out why Professor Yang or Captain Luo would come to steal his things, especially since they were just some worthless snacks and drinks.
Liu Xing, who couldn’t make sense of it, decided to temporarily put it out of his mind. Why waste time thinking about it, especially when he was also getting hungry?
Liu Xing took out his mobile phone and saw that it was already 8 pm, with an hour to go before his meeting with Addison.
Liu Xing thought for a moment, people regard food as heaven, and there was nothing to eat in the office, so Liu Xing decided to go to the canteen to try his luck and see if he could find something to fill his stomach. He didn’t want to go hungry until the next morning.
So, Liu Xing went downstairs, heading towards the treatment center’s canteen.
