Chapter 7: The Yogi Pooh
After waking up the next morning, the crew promptly discusses the matter of the treasure map as they wait for Mr. Frigeworth and his son to finish the last details on the ship.
Their navigator Verona decides on a route that's both safe from the Marine toll checkpoints on the northwest, and the sea kings on the southwest. They'll sail to the little island close to Miller Island and search for some supplies there. Then go straight to the white island with the "X" where the treasure lies.
-I'm glad you guys finished planning your course. We've also finished your new ship.
Frigeworth takes them to his workshop for them to see his masterpiece.
A rather small vessel with the shape of a galleon. With one cannon on each side. And the figurehead of a slightly perturbed bear. As if it just woke up and is hungry.
-What a beautiful ship! – Says Duros looking up at the craft with a shine in his eyes.
-Thank you. It's my pride and joy. You guys can name it whatever you like, just promise me you'd never remove that bear. It means a lot to me and my family…
-Is the bear, like, your guardian spirit or some such? – William asks curiously.
-Yeah, something like that. Tales are told that we descended from bears.
Looking at him more carefully, his rather muscular and hairy physique surely resembles one of a mighty bear.
-So, what should we name it? – Verona questions as he looks around the ship.
-Well, a vessel this magnificent should have an equally magnificent name. One that puts fear in the hearts of our enemies! Yes, yes… I have some ideas already. – William says scratching his chin in a thinking manner.
-What about Yogi Pooh? – Pearl suggests as she runs her gloved hand through it.
William and the gang look at her.
-My brother once told me a story about a bear named Yogi Pooh. – She continues – I don't remember much of it, but I think that in the story he was a good bear that always tried to help others...
Pearl looks at the figurehead as she talks. Remembering the past that she seemed to forget.
William, not much impressed or moved by her story, looks at her with disapproval. A pirate vessel shouldn't have the name of a good bear that helps others! William opens his mouth to tell her that just to be interrupted by his first mate.
-Ah yes! That is a perfect name for this vessel. It symbolizes our mission of protecting the innocent with all our might! – Duros declares, very happy with the name.
-CHAHAHAD! That's a pretty fun name. I like it! – Ragnar says merrily.
-Meh… I've seen worst. – Verona adds.
William is dumbfounded by his crew accepting this childish name for a PIRATE ship. He looks at the shipwright. Surely this man who poured his blood and soul into this boat won't accept a name like-
-Perfect. I'm glad you guys have good taste when it comes to names. – Frigeworth states stroking his mustache.
William sighs. Since everyone is on board with the name, there is no point in trying to argue anymore.
-Very well then, - William takes out his sword and comes closer to the ship – Thy name shall be, Yogi Pooh!
He declares as he elegantly carves a tiny "X" on the ship's keel.
