Chapter 89: Fallen Flower...
P.O.V - David.
Do you want to know something she didn't give up on even as she laid there?" Conan asks as he looks at me.
I stand there not knowing what to say.
"You.
She kept saying you'd come and save her.
She believed you would come and you'd treat her and she would be alright and then we would all be happy.
You know with her faith in you we also began hoping, believing that maybe you'd actually come.
Well, she was quite right, you did come, but you came twenty hours late.
Yesterday she stopped breathing due to the infection.
Why couldn't you have just come a day earlier...
Why did you have to come after he had gone?" Conan yells as he drops to his knees sobbing under the rain.
The other children go over to him and they weep together.
I stood there, my head spinning as I stare blankly at this grave before me.
She... she really is dead?
And she died yesterday?
So if I had just made it a day earlier...
I heave a long sigh as I raise my head up to the sky as the rain beats my face.
"I'm sorry about the loss of our friend Da Som.
Let us return to the cave now." I say as I turn to return.
Slowly they rose up and followed behind me.
We get to the cave all wet and dripping.
Looking at them properly now I could see their clothes were all ragged.
I made them pull off their tops and cuddle with the Spirit Beast and her cubs to provide warmth.
I watched them until they fell asleep.
I rise to my feet and while the rain still drizzled I left the cave.
Dashing up the remaining height of the mountain and then sprinting down the other side.
After about two minutes I arrive at what used to be a village.
Most of the buildings were burnt down.
Walking through I could see dead bodies.
All I could perceive were ash and rotting bodies.
I begin checking every possible hiding spot, maybe there could be survivors.
After checking everywhere for about fifteen minutes I found nothing but dead bodies and rats.
I found some clothes which the children could wear in the meantime in one of the building which wasn't completely burnt down.
I tie them inside a bag and decided it was time to leave.
"Who goes there?" I hear a male voice from behind me.
Slowly, I turn and see a male figure clad in black with a sword hanging by his waist.
"I asked, who are you kid?" The male asks again.
Suddenly I begin to feel more presences appearing around me.
From the shadows came similar people clad in black.
Their numbers were a total of six, all first rate except the one who called out to me who was Early Peak.
"Hmmm, who are they?" I think to myself.
Could they be related to this incident?
"Let me ask you a question." I say to the male before me.
"Do you know what happened here?" I ask.
"Asking me a question when I asked who you were?
Do not say I didn't show mercy child." He says as he stretches forth his left hand towards me.
As soon as he does this the other dudes lunge at me to attack me.
I take a step as I begin moving forward.
Easily I kill every single one of them with a dagger to their heads.
By the time I had ended them all I was now standing directly in front of the man in black, looking up to him.
He tries to attack me but I slice off his hand with a quick draw of the sword which hung by my waist.
His hand falls to the ground a distance away as he backs away holding his arm groaning in pain.
"Wh...who are... you?" He asks sweating profusely as his eyes twitch.
"I asked a question, do you know what happened here? to this village?" I ask as I pull out a dagger from my storage ring.
He remained silent staring at me.
"Do not think of running, you will only suffer more pain if you do that." I say to him as I spin the dagger in my hand.
"Who are you?" He asks again.
I was tired of that question.
I heave a sigh and suddenly throw the dagger towards him.
At high speed it pierces his hip.
He groans in pain as he drops to one knee on the ground.
"Hmmm, I see, you are not a screamer huh?" I say to him as I walk towards him.
As I reach him I grab him by the cloth around his head.
Looking deep into his eyes my eyes began glowing red and so did my hair.
With a deep voice I say to him;
"Tell me what happened here!"
"I... I will tell you... pl...please do not kill me." He pleads.
"Of course, I also prefer not to kill people." I say with a creepy smile up my face.
He began explaining to me what had happened.
Apparently one of the martial artists who worked with Ximen Jong to kidnap the children survived.
He survived and went to snitch to the Grand Elder.
The Grand Elder not knowing where I was decided to release his anger on those who were thought to be close to me, the children.
And since the children were a part of the village he just decided to kill everyone.
Listening to everything I was a little shaken.
I just realized that everything was my fault.
The reason those innocent children lost their loved ones was because of me.
The reason why Da Som lost her life is because of me.
I brought this upon them.
"Fuuuucckkk!!" I yell out loud as I smack my face with my palm.
"Wait, a young boy, black hair which can fade into red, are you Ximen Yeong?" He asks.
I didn't reply him and just gave him a smile.
My hair fades back to black and so did my eyes.
"So you guys have my description huh?" I say to him.
"Who is the strongest amongst your people?" I ask him.
"Ummm, the captain and Vice Captains are both Martial Masters." He says.
I see, two Martial Masters.
Well I've heard enough.
"So are you really..."
I slice off his head with my sword while he spoke cutting him short.
I pick up his head and place it in a leather bag.
I pick up the bag which contained the clothes for the children.
The rain had just completely stopped now and I made my way up the mountain and before going to the cave I branch somewhere.
Da Som's grave.
The ground was a little muddy but I sit on it anyway.
I heave a long sigh.
"Hey little one, so ummm... I heard about what happened.
I'm really sorry I couldn't make it in time.
It pains my heart to know that if, just if I had arrived earlier you wouldn't be under the dirt but rather probably hugging unto my back right now." I say as I heave another sigh trying to hold back my tears.
"Naaa, I'm not going to cry.
I know you wouldn't want to see me cry so I wouldn't.
Now, I brought something that might disgust you but..." I say as I unwrap the leather bag and pull out the head of the man.
"I know you used to say things like you wanted to be a martial artist who showed no mercy and killed anyone who was a bad guy.
But you were still a child so thinking you would be ok with seeing the bloodied head of a Martial Artist is just wrong.
But I didn't bring it here for that.
This is one of the people who killed you and the people of your village.
Do not worry, this is not the only one I'll be bringing.
I'll make sure to bring all their heads to you, every single one of them." I say to her.
I place the head back in the leather bag and fling it far away from her grave.
I give my last greetings and made my way to the cave.
Getting back to the cave I see the children were still sleeping.
I smile a bit looking at those cute things sleep.
"Big brother Yeong, where are you coming from." A voice from behind me asks.
It gave me chills.
I turn and see it was just Conan.
"Ohhh, why are standing there awake Conan?" I ask with a smile.
"It is not yet night, I do not see a reason why I should be sleeping." He says.
"Hmmm, well you could just re..." I tryspeaking before he interrupts me.
"Please do not try to dodge the question hyung.
Where are you coming from?" He asks looking straight at me.
