Chapter 18: Troubles of school life
"Brad came to me that night while I was away," Emily explained.
"And? What happened?" Adam asked, curious about the details.
"He tried to comfort me. I wasn't in the mood to talk and returned home," Emily stated.
"Seriously, why didn't you just tell me?" Adam said, pulling Emily into a tight hug.
"It's not a big deal, are you that worried about hurting my feelings?!" Adam comforted Emily, patting her head. "I love you, Emily. I wouldn't mind getting hurt for you. Please don't keep things to yourself, holding onto them and hurting you indirectly. I'm here for you through thick and thin, just tell me everything," Adam whispered as their hearts synchronized.
"Sorry, Adam. I love you too," Emily whispered back.
Adam instantly teleported them home. Emily grabbed onto Adam, who was momentarily drained from the teleportation.
As Adam regulated his breathing, his duplicates appeared, setting out their lunch. They both ate quickly, rushing against the clock.
Suddenly, Adam's phone vibrated with a text message. "I got a surprise for you tomorrow," read the text from Alice.
Emily asked, "Who texted you?"
Adam replied, "Alice. She says she's got a surprise for me tomorrow." Emily's face tightened, frustrated at the thought of other women interfering with their relationship.
As Adam put down his phone, he asked, "On Saturday, I'm planning to go to my uncle's house. Do you have any plans?"
"Nope, my parents are on their work trip. Let's go buy some new clothes later for Saturday's trip to your uncle's house," Emily replied.
"We can find something for your uncle and his family as well," Emily continued.
Adam, smiling at Emily, feeling lucky to have her. "Remember our student council duties; hopefully, it ends early today," Adam added, thinking about the time left for shopping.
"Well, we don't have to worry about travel time since you can teleport us. I just want to spend some time together as a date night as well," Emily expressed her thoughts.
As Emily looked at the time, they both realized they needed to eat quickly. Adam swiftly teleported them back to the rooftop at school and rushed towards their class. As their lesson ended, the guys from class came over to talk to Adam. Emily walked out of the class, with Brad trailing behind her.
"Tell us about how you and Emily are childhood friends, how is she like?" one of the boys asked.
The girls interrupted. "Do both of you have feelings for each other?" one of them asked directly.
"Wait, wait. I can't reply to all the answers at once," Adam said, holding his hands up, trying to calm them down.
The crowd started asking questions as the boys and girls argued about who got to talk to Adam regarding his relationship with Emily.
"I've got to attend the student council. Sorry, I've got to go," Adam quickly grabbed his bag and rushed out of the door, hearing the boys and girls chattering and arguing behind him. Adam walked away, feeling relieved he got away from the commotion. Adam rush towards the student council room.
As he opened the door, he saw a teacher detailing some upcoming events and giving Brad a list. The teacher walked out, smiling as he looked at Adam. Adam greeted the teacher as he walked away. Brad looked visibly stressed as Adam came inside and sat on one of the chairs.
"As you heard, the school will have a food cultural event held next week. It's always last minute when it comes to events," Brad said, feeling the pressure of the deadline.
Tsuyu spoke, "The maintenance of the baseball club room needs to be addressed, as leaks appear, causing property damage to their lockers."
Juro added, "There are cigarette butts found at three locations: club activity rooms, staircase, and toilets. We need to check who the culprit is that keeps littering and smoking in school."
Akemi smirked as she said, "Emily, are your hooligans the ones doing this?"
Emily replied swiftly, "Don't start accusing without evidence. You better choose your words wisely next time." Emily clearly held some vendetta against the two girls.
"I need you all to focus, we don't have much time. Juro, please investigate and bring me a report to send to the admins. Tsuyu, check the damages and cost of repair; I will check with admins after. I need someone to help buy stuff for the events," Brad said, thinking of solutions.
"I can go with Emily since we need to shop for some personal items as well," Adam volunteered.
"Alright, good. Akemi will be assisting me to handle the events planning," Brad concluded. "We'll end early today and get everything settled as soon as possible," Brad said, dismissing the meeting. Brad added Adam to the student council chat group, stating he would send the list of items to buy there.
Emily looked at Adam with a smile, seeing Adam's ingenuity in getting them off early for their date. Emily held Adam's hand, turned around, and smirked at the other two girls as Adam teleported them both home.
