Chapter 17: Confrontation
As Emily walked into the classroom, the group of hooligans, led by Caden, Jack, and Cory, immediately swarmed her. "Princess, how did you get here without entering the gates?" one of them asked, genuinely curious.
"Oh, I teleported here," Emily replied.
The hooligans exchanged confused glances, then all burst into laughter, trying to assure Emily they understood the joke. As they escorted her to her seat, they started harassing other students, displaying menacing faces as a threat to anyone who might try to bother Emily.
"What happened to your faces? Some of you even have bandages on. Something happened?" Emily asked, noticing their injuries.
"Jack, Cory, and I met with the other school gangsters. They threatened some of our students walking home. So we had to step in and protect our territory," Caden explained.
Emily pondered their situation.
"Please don't worry, they won't disturb the students anymore," Jack said, assuring Emily everything was fine.
Adam walked in, seeing Emily surrounded by guys talking to her, wondering how popular his wife was. As Adam sat down at his desk, some girls approached him, asking for his number. Another girl invited Adam to join them for karaoke after school. Emily stared menacingly, watching the girls flirt with her husband.
"That guy messing with you, Boss Princess? Want me to beat him up?" Cory asked boldly.
"No, no. Don't disturb him. He is much stronger than all of you. I'm just not feeling well, thinking about something," Emily said, trying not to cause problems.
"He is strong? You sure, boss?" Caden asked, looking at the others. All three of them stared at Adam, assessing if he was even strong enough to handle one of them.
"Yeah, please don't do anything," Emily insisted.
"Everyone be seated!" the teacher's voice boomed as he entered the room. "Why are you hooligans here disturbing people?! Get back to your class!" he demanded, glaring at the hooligans.
Adam turned, looking at Emily, seeing her frustrated face, and somehow he knew why she felt that way. The class continued until break time.
As Brad walked to his desk, he stared at Emily. Emily stared back, a telepathic understanding passing between them. Adam watched, feeling a little off as usual by Brad's and Emily's expressions. Brad casually went to inform Adam of his duty as the new student council member after class, before going over to Emily to pass some papers for a student council meeting.
Brad looked at Emily, and Emily stomped on his foot. Brad, with his cool demeanor, instantly felt the pain and tried to play it off, walking away without limping.
Adam went straight to Emily's table. "What is actually going on?"
Instantly, the girls and guys in the class sensed some form of relationship between Adam and Emily.
"Can we talk somewhere private? Everyone is looking!" Emily whispered.
Adam suddenly realized what he had done. "Ah, thank you for the pen the other day. I'm just here returning Emily's pen," Adam said loudly, trying to make everyone believe there was nothing between them.
Whispers could be heard, with some girls saying, "Damn, she's greedy. One handsome guy isn't enough, she wants all of them."
Emily grew visibly irritated hearing those words, but she calmly walked out of the class.
"I should join the student council then, if I can get their attention," another girl whispered.
Adam looked around, seeing the eyes of all the students staring at him.
"Emily is my childhood friend, so that's why I'm actually in this class," Adam declared.
Everyone started talking as they realized their relationship. One of the guys shouted, "Wow, congrats, my guy. It's not easy to be in the same class as your childhood friend." The guys in the class lightened the mood, but the girls showed clear faces of envy toward Emily. Some of the guys tried to approach Adam with their plan to befriend him and get close to Emily.
"Sorry guys, I need to attend to something. We'll talk again later," Adam said as he walked out of the classroom. Adam looked around, seeing Emily walking to the staircase, instantly knowing she was heading to the rooftop. Adam followed Emily, and they both stood opposite each other.
"You sure can't hold it together. Now the girls will start talking behind my back," Emily stated.
"Wait, I know it's my fault. But something happened between you and Brad?! It's impulsive of me to come to you straight, but it's just my reflex as I saw your behavior with Brad seemed very off," Adam retorted.
Emily started remembering what happened the night before, a guilty look showing on her face.
"So are you going to say anything?" Adam asked.
