Desert Spirits - A Pokemon Fan fic

Aqua Grunt Pov.

The swaying of the ship was soothing as I sat at the railing of the ship fishing waiting for the next bite.

Beside me Poochyena was snoring away lazily hopefully having sweet dreams.

Soon enough there was a tap upon my shoulder stirring me from my relaxed position I acknowledged them "How may I be of service."

"Sanguine has requested your presence to the bridge."

surprise took me as I heard that. "I guess I won't be fishing for a while it seems. Ok I'll head over as fast as possible."

The grunt nodded before walking away.

I began to reel in my pole quickly.

"Hey, you lazy bone mutt get up it's time to go."

Poochyena opened its eyes snarling in complaint before getting up like it was a chore to follow.

They began walking across the swaying wooden floor easily to a set of stairs and then finally to a door that entered the bridge.

I knocked knowing not to disrespect the captain of the ship.

"You may enter." a gruff voice called out.

I opened the door to two men and two Pokemon.

The first man was Sanguine he wore an Aqua uniform beside him was a tall owl-like Pokemon with long wings a green leafy hood and a black and orange mask

The other man was quite tall with tanned skin his hair was decorated with beads he wore a blue and white shirt with a black overcoat on top beside him was a frightening large blue sea horse with spiky wing-like fins and an angry scowl on its face sitting in a pool of water.

I walked in nervously Poochyena hid behind my leg in fear.

"My name is Hyde, and you may address me as Admin Hyde. Sanguine here has recommended you for the mission I have been assigned to give to a low-level grunt. You are to head to Petalburg woods and await the Devon employee that is in the woods and take his suitcase, how you do it doesn't matter so long as you get the case. Failure is not an option here so do your best not to disappoint me or else." he pointed at Seadra.

"Seadra" Seadra said insidiously.

Sanguine held out a Pokeball "Take this with you it will help to get you there if it runs away, I will make you regret it because of the trouble it was to get this guy a few days ago."

I took the Pokeball "I will not disappoint."

Gray Pov.

Gray woke up for the day before leaving for the Pokemart for supplies for his journey to Rustburo.

In the Pokemart he grabbed a few potions and a few Pecha berries for Trap to eat and to cure poison ailments from battling.

afterwards I headed to the way into Route 104.

I released Trap.

"It's time to start our way to Rustboro."

Gray and Trap began to walk into Route 104.

The walk to Petalburg Woods would be about 2 hours

Route 104 was pretty plain with the long grass and the long path that followed the hill down to the beach and the path that followed the tree line to the entrance to the forest.

Gray followed the tree line towards the entrance.

This path was considered the more dangerous path because of the chance for attacks from wild Pokemon namely Poochyena, Zigzagoon, and Tailow. These pokemon were more likely to want to fight on the path.

Gray knew better than to take on a Tailow so he avoided them on his way as they were a bad matchup for Trap.

Towards the end of the route there was a trainer with a large tan hat and a net in hand. Wrapped around the girl's shoulders is a yellow insect with a stinger on its head and tail.

Their eyes met and Gray knew in that moment he was in for a battle.

The girl spoke "I'm Linn and I challenge you to a battle." Linn said with utter excitement.

"I accept your challenge." Gray said

At first Gray was slightly nervous but soon enough excitement filled him.

"Weedle your up."

"Trap lets have fun with your first trainer battle."

Weedle and Trap stood in front of each other.

Linn called first "String shot followed by Poison sting."

"Use Mud-Slap and blind it"

Weedle shot strings faster than Trap could move the sticky string wrapping around Traps legs then began to close in on Trap.

Trap then flung mud at Weedle and hit it in the face.

Weedles tail then began to glow purple as it stabbed toward Trap completely missing

"Bite it Trap."

"We can play at this game use Bug Bite."

At the same time Trap and Weedle begin their attack Traps mouth glowing black and Weedles mouth glowing Green.

After the attack Weedle was on the ground unconscious.

Linn then returned Weedle.

They both then approached each other.

"Good battle I can't imagine where you got a Weedle at in Hoenn."

"Agreed good battle I'm not from here I got my Weedle in Kanto where I come from."

Linn handed Gray some money for winning their match.

"Can't wait to battle you again let's meet again in Rustboro."

"Yeah, can't wait bye for now I need to head back to Petalburg City."

Gray then walked up to Trap and removed the string and used part of a potion to spray Traps wound the bite visibly shrinking as it healed.

"Trap you did a wonderful job there keep going like that and we will take the league along with this little guy and whomever else joins us." Gray says while patting the egg.

The egg shakes after the pats

Gray then pats Trap on the head, and he excitedly calls his name.

"Ok Let us head into the forest."

The entrance to the forest was a simple wooden archway past it the area within was darker hanging in trees were Silcoon and Cascoon.

Gray stepped in and began to walk looking as the various Pokemon on his way.

half an hour of travel later he finally ran into a man in a green suit behind a Trainer with brown hair and a white hat.

His Mudkip was in front of him battling someone with a Poochyena dressed in a blue pirate-like uniform with a bandana that has a skull shape A on it.

Soon after running into them a red flash appeared from the man's belt a green bird appearing the Pokeball it came from glowed pink being crushed.

The man was dumbfounded by what was happening

The green bird disappeared and reappeared on Grays shoulder before he was hit by sudden dizziness as the world disappeared and he passed out as space warped around him.
