"Not here… not here." Tanjiro, breathless, looked around the forest, finding no way out. He tried to follow the faint scent of the demon, but the scent was everywhere, making it impossible to pinpoint its source. His anxiety mounted.
Tanjiro's thoughts: I can't find the demon, but there's a faint scent… everywhere… I can't determine the direction.
If I don't hurry, Nezuko is bleeding! If everyone's asleep, things will be terrible! How can I wake up? What should I do?!
Frantic, Tanjiro searched, but to no avail.
"Tanjiro, draw your sword. What must be cut already exists."
Suddenly, his father, Kamado Tanjūrō, appeared behind him, offering this cryptic advice.
Tanjiro's thoughts: What must be cut? To wake up?
He had a hunch, but hesitated. A wrong choice would be irreversible.
He drew his Nichirin Sword and slashed his own neck.
"Crack!"
The sound of his neck severing echoed. He saw his own blood splatter, but the next moment, he awoke, back in the real world.
"Ah!"
The horrifying dream caused him to shout, startling Nezuko, who cowered in a corner, looking at him in confusion.
Tanjiro's thoughts: I'm okay? I'm still alive?
Seeing the sleeping passengers, Tanjiro remembered something and pulled out his ticket, smelling a faint demonic scent on it.
Tanjiro's thoughts: So that's it! The ticket has a demonic scent! The demon tampered with it! That's how we were all put to sleep!
He checked on Nezuko, relieved she was unharmed. Then he noticed Aoki was missing.
"Nezuko, where's Aoki-senpai?" Tanjiro could still smell Aoki, indicating he was nearby.
Nezuko pointed towards the train's ceiling.
Aoki suddenly dropped through the window onto the train car. Smiling, he said, "Tanjiro, you're finally awake! Good."
"Listen, this train is dangerous. It's the demon's body. The two hundred passengers are in mortal danger. Your mission is to protect them."
"Nezuko, you woke Tanjiro. Wake Zenitsu and Inosuke. We can't protect this many passengers alone."
Nezuko and Tanjiro sprang into action. Aoki stood, thinking, his Sharingan observing the train.
Aoki's thoughts: He said the train is his body. If he could move his body parts freely between cars, he wouldn't need to target us like this.
His body parts must be fixed in place. If we consider the train a body, then the engine is the head!
Aoki raced towards the engine car. If he was right, Enmu's head was in the engine. Severing it would be the key to victory.
As Aoki ran, a fleshy substance emerged from every car, consuming passengers.
Tanjiro darted through the train, but there were too many cars; he couldn't save everyone.
Then, a familiar voice shouted, "Ah! The invincible Inosuke-sama has arrived!" Inosuke, now awake, wielded his twin blades, cutting back the fleshy substance consuming the passengers.
"Thunder Breathing, First Style: Thunderclap and Flash, Sixth Strike!"
Meanwhile, after waking the others, Nezuko fought the fleshy substance. Just as she was about to be overwhelmed, a golden figure appeared, accompanied by thunderous roars, repelling the substance. It was Zenitsu.
"Nezuko, I'll protect you!" Zenitsu whispered, still half-asleep.
Nezuko felt a surge of admiration for Zenitsu's sudden coolness, which quickly dissipated upon realizing he was still asleep.
"Unbelievable! I'm dozing off while things get this serious! I'm ashamed of my title as Hashira! I want to find a hole to crawl into!" Rengoku Kyōjurō, now awake, lamented, surveying the chaos.
He found Tanjiro, fighting valiantly.
"Kamado!" Rengoku Kyōjurō said. "I'll be brief. Eight cars. I'll protect the rear five. You, your sister, Zenitsu, and Inosuke will handle the front three.
Aoki's already at the engine, so we just need to protect the passengers!"
Rengoku Kyōjurō raced towards the rear cars, flames incinerating the fleshy substance.
"So fast, so powerful! Rengoku-san is incredibly strong! I wonder how he compares to Aoki-senpai," Tanjiro marveled.
