Chapter 46: DSWS: Chapter 46
"Infinity Castle, Muzan Kibutsuji's Rage"
Several months earlier…
In a somewhat eerie atmosphere, dim lights illuminated a vast space.
This was Infinity Castle, Muzan Kibutsuji's base and the hidden location of his main body.
Unlike a normal city, Infinity Castle's structure was incredibly strange. It was less a city and more a distorted space, with buildings positioned haphazardly, some above, some below, stretching endlessly into the unknown.
"Clang!"
A biwa (Japanese lute) resonated through the silent castle. Suddenly, five figures appeared simultaneously in five different locations.
These were demons, each bearing the number of a Lower Moon Kizuki on their eyes.
Lower Moon Six: Kamanue
Lower Moon Four: Mukago
Lower Moon Three: Wakuraba
Lower Moon Two: Rokuro
Lower Moon One: Enmu
Except for Rui, who had been killed by Aoki, the remaining Lower Moons were gathered in Infinity Castle.
They were utterly bewildered by their sudden appearance, terrified of what was to come. They knew who had summoned them: Muzan Kibutsuji. It was self-evident.
"Where are we?" Kamanue wondered, looking at the imposing yet unsettling castle.
"Is this that woman's Blood Demon Art? The space seems distorted around her," Kamanue said, spotting a woman playing a biwa on a distant rooftop. Her long hair completely obscured her face.
The biwa music continued. Kamanue noticed only the Lower Moons were present. The unexpected summoning filled him with fear and uncertainty. Never before had the Lower Moons been summoned together. This was a first, and possibly a last.
"Clang!"
The biwa's sound echoed again. Instantly, the five demons were teleported to the same location, without their knowledge.
Looking around in confusion, a chilling aura washed over them. They looked up to see a pale woman in a kimono, with delicate features and blood-red eyes, standing before them. Beside her was the long-haired biwa player.
Kamanue's thoughts: Who is that woman? What is she?
His question was answered when she spoke. Her blood-red eyes narrowed. Her voice, surprisingly, was male. As she spoke, an irresistible compulsion, a cellular command, forced them to their knees, unable to lift their heads.
Kamanue's thoughts: It's Muzan-sama! I didn't recognize him. His appearance and aura are completely different. An incredibly skillful disguise.
Muzan Kibutsuji, the Demon King and the strongest demon, was their master. While they were the Twelve Kizuki, they were merely his subordinates.
To the Demon Slayer Corps, they were formidable foes, only beatable by Hashira-level fighters. But to Muzan Kibutsuji, the Twelve Kizuki were nothing more than ants, easily crushed. Therefore, even the Twelve Kizuki couldn't meet his gaze directly. They lacked the right.
"I-I apologize. Your appearance is so different, I didn't recognize you…" Kamanue stammered.
"Who gave you permission to speak?!"
Lower Moon Four, Mukago, attempted to justify his earlier transgression, but Muzan Kibutsuji cut him short, silencing him.
"Don't voice your useless thoughts. Answer my questions," Muzan Kibutsuji said coldly, uncaring of their fear.
"Rui, Lower Moon Five, is dead. I have one question: why are the Lower Moons so weak? Becoming a Lower Moon isn't the end; it's a new beginning. Devour more humans, grow stronger, and serve me."
"For nearly a century, the Upper Moons haven't changed. It's always the Upper Moons who kill the Hashira. But the Lower Moons? How many times have they been replaced?"
Kamanue's thoughts: What's the point of telling us this? Keep talking.
Before he could finish this thought, Muzan Kibutsuji voiced it aloud.
Kamanue's thoughts: He can read my mind? Oh no.
A vein throbbed on Muzan Kibutsuji's face. One arm swelled enormously, covered in eyes, seizing Kamanue and holding him upside down.
"Forgive me, Muzan-sama! Spare me! I'm so sorry! So sorry!"
As Twelve Kizuki, they knew Muzan Kibutsuji's power. He could kill anyone, even if they had destroyed the Demon Slayer Corps. They had angered him.
Terrified, Kamado Yaiba begged for mercy, tears welling in his eyes.
"Please! Spare me! Spare me!"
Muzan Kibutsuji ignored his pleas. His giant arm opened its maw and devoured Kamanue, leaving only scattered remains and a silence where his pleas once echoed. He had no chance of survival.
