Chapter 8: Bargain
As she approached us, she grabbed her sword and pointed it out at me with narrow eyes. I could tell she smelled the stench of black or was it dak magic either one works but well humans have certain connotations or opinions on whichever phrase you use. Although I guess it made sense, an entity like myself would no longer have the same human smell perhaps a faint whiff but still not the same.
Which reminded me I needed to modify the memories of Company 105 a bit maybe not the villagers but the soldiers. Should be simple enough as I knew them very well at least on a surface level and the spell didn't require much for what I wanted. Anyway soon enough Wonder Woman spoke out her voice as commanding as her father, Zeus but whether or not it was a genetic relationship or simply her being brought to life from clay well only her mother would know.
"Who is this man Flash?"
"And why does he reek of black magic?"
Looks like I was right about her smelling my magical essence or whatever you would call it. Either way, I had to bullshit a bit as I didn't want these people to find more about me, and didn't want the wrong people learning a bit of information they didn't need to. Come to think of it, I think I remember my mom sending me a letter a few days ago saying they had big news. Well, I could try and scry on them tonight when these people were asleep.
"Don't know about all that magic stuff, but I just found him surrounded by Nazi corpses, and from what I saw he somehow froze them all in place."
"He did say he was on our side but it could be a trick or something."
Curling her fist, she would further narrow her eyes but I iterrrupted her before she could speak again.
"I can understand your reservations Amazonian, but I truly am on your side this time."
"I mean look at the U.S and the U.S.S.R both enemies by economy and ideological systems yet at this moment are allied against the Axis powers."
"So is it such a stretch that people on the more magical side of the world would also have their disagreements, and ally with those that they don't agree with."
"So I wanted to make a deal, a bargain for Two favors in exchange for my knowledge and magical expertise."
Of course that was all bullshit and I was putting up an act, decently well if I was being honest. However, it was only half of a lie as the Dagger had granted me free/vast knowledge of magic. I had no doubt it would be useful against the more mystical side of the Axis powers, especially the Thule Society which I had no doubt had actual mystical powers amongst their numbers.
Heck, maybe even a few Nazi superhumans actually existed as well, either made through science or magic, perhaps even mutations, even a natural-born being.
"I understand your natural distrust of me, but let's be honest if the Nazis haven't learned of you yet they will."
"Even then if I wanted to kill any of you, I would have done so already, I could've frozen you and sliced your throats or killed you in any number of ways."
"But I won't because you can give me something I want and I can help you however you see fit."
While she did put her sword away and relax a little bit, I could tell she still didn't trust me which was natural. Right now we weren't fighting so that was all I could hope for and well you know what they say about strange bedfellows. She began talking to oh what this Flash's name again, Jay Garrick.
"The Nazi's forces in this town have lessened considerably, we should continue searching this town for any remnants and capture them."
"I'll regroup with the others, you stay here and keep an eye on..."
She looked at me realizing I hadn't introduced myself yet and well she didn't know whether to call me friend or foe.
"RRRRumpelstiltskin at your service."
I gave a courteous bow as Jay held in a laugh probably realizing where my name came from, with Wonder Woman or Diana just being confused by this.
"Kee an eye on this man, whilst the others and I regroup."
She began to make her way across the battlefield, probably trying to find the others, and seeing as I say no radio on her person, well it would probably take a minute. Seeing that she was gone, Flash leaned on the side of a destroyed wall, probably taking this chance to rest a little bit as I could tell they'd been running around all day.
"So named after the Fairy tale or vice versa?"
Well, I could already tell this was going to be either a long day or a long temporary partnership.
......
Eventually after a long and...annoying conversation with this version of the Flash, we eventually arrived at a tent with the rest of this version of the Justice Society. One Hawkman with his classic getup, Black Canary in a black dress/mask with a blue coat I think, and Hourman who was wearing a mainly yellow costume with an Hourglass symbol wearing a black mask.
The Flash went over to them and began talking with one another with the occasional stare, either of confusion or suspicion. Well, I had enough of one Mr. Flash today so I grabbed a metallic chair and poured my mana into it, changing the fundamental shape of it alongside the material. It became a nice dark brown wooden chair, that would be a bit more comfortable than the one previously here.
Sitting down I finally had the chance to relax a little bit and give my legs a break. Soon enough the last two...no three arrived one Diana or Wonder Woman, the man I cast the locator/scrying spell on earlier, and a reporter. A young man in his late twenties with an almost cartoonishly big black mustache and the standard army uniform, with a camera strapped around his neck.
Wonder Woman looked around and smiled seeing her friends, but her question quickly switched into one of a neutral expression. The pilot leaned on the table while the reporter began sorting through various pictures on a nearby table, probably looking for a front-page headline or something like that. Soon enough Wonder Woman began to speak, commanding the room.
"So now that we have all gahterd, tell me Rumpelstilskin was it, what is this bargain you want to make with us?"
I smiled as I got myself ready to negotiate my ass off.
