Chapter 295: C255

"Thunder God Thor?"

Hawkeye didn't bother lowering his voice.

His words were heard by his teammates—and by the imposter Doom.

Fake Doom's expression darkened slightly. He wasn't surprised that Hawkeye knew Thor's name; rather, his reaction suggested that he simply didn't like hearing it.

"Who is he?"

"Wait, is he the so-called god that Wonder Woman fought when she first appeared in New Mexico?"

"Thor had lost his powers back then, but now he's regained them?"

"An alien?"

"Why is this so-called god suddenly appearing?"

The Avengers exchanged glances, countless thoughts flashing through their minds. Their gazes then shifted in unison toward their enemy—the imposter Doom.

There was no doubt that he was somehow connected to Thor. The scorch marks left by lightning on the ground were undeniable evidence.

"He's here for you," Hawkeye said grimly. "Who are you?"

"Me?"

Fake Doom only smiled.

BOOM!

A figure descended from the sky, landing with the force of a meteor. Thor, wielding Mjolnir, crashed onto the battlefield, creating a crater and sending out a shockwave of dust and debris.

"He is my brother!"

Thor answered for the imposter, his tone harsh.

"Loki! He is Loki!"

"Loki?"

"He's Loki?!"

The Avengers were momentarily stunned. Only Hawkeye, having more information than the others, quickly pieced things together.

He recalled his earlier discussions with Anton, Coulson, and the others in the small town of Puente Antiguo, New Mexico.

Back then, a massive suit of terrifying armor had been sent to eliminate Thor. And the one behind it... had been Loki.

"Brother, long time no see."

The imposter Doom—Loki—ignored the Avengers entirely. His gaze was fixed solely on Thor.

"Loki, enough games. Where is the Tesseract?"

Thor's voice was cold, though there was a flicker of frustration and reluctant concern in his eyes.

"I didn't expect Odin to send you here."

Before anyone could react, Loki's illusion flickered, his disguise melting away in rippling waves.

His true form emerged—his sharp features framed by a golden-horned helmet, his regal robes adorned with intricate Asgardian designs.

"You've made a grave mistake."

Thor's voice was heavy. "Now hand over the Tesseract. Tell me where your allies are, and you might still have a chance to make amends."

"Make amends?"

Loki let out a bitter laugh. "I don't need your mercy. In fact, if you would simply step aside and not interfere, I might even be grateful."

"Enough. This isn't the time for family drama."

The Avengers had been listening, some still catching up on the details, but one thing was clear—the situation had to be resolved immediately.

Loki had no intention of cooperating. That meant only one course of action remained: capture him for interrogation.

Boom!

Tony activated his armor and aimed at Loki.

Captain America—Steve Rogers—had the same idea and even acted first. He leaped behind Loki, grabbed his arm, and swung his shield at him.

"Stop!"

Thor intercepted the attack.

"Wait! This is an Asgardian matter. It has nothing to do with you mortals."

Thor clashed with Captain America, gripping Loki's arm. But before he could pull Loki away, the rest of the Avengers launched their attacks.

Thor felt the pressure mounting.

Boom!

With a single swing of Mjolnir, he unleashed a surge of lightning, forcing the Avengers back. But Tony retaliated with a powerful repulsor blast.

Boom!

Thor was sent flying, crashing through a billboard before embedding himself into the wall behind it.

"Ha!"

Loki chuckled at the sight, clearly amused by Thor's misfortune.

Click!

Steve reappeared, now holding a pair of high-tech restraints. He swiftly clamped them onto Loki's wrists, locking him in place.

"You're coming with us."

Turning to Harry, he said, "Get him on the plane."

"Understood."

Harry stepped onto his flying skateboard and lifted Loki into the air toward the transport plane hovering above.

Boom!

Just then, Thor shattered the remains of the billboard and charged after Harry.

Boom!

Tony, of course, wasn't about to let Thor interfere. He shot straight up, intercepting him midair.

The two collided with a resounding impact.

Boom!

Both fell rapidly toward the ground, but at the last second, they adjusted their stances, landing forcefully and creating two craters upon impact. They stood up, facing each other across a short distance.

The Avengers quickly surrounded Tony, their eyes locked onto Thor with cold determination.

Thor frowned, realizing the situation had become complicated. He wasn't afraid of the Avengers, but he knew that with them standing in his way, retrieving Loki would be difficult.

More importantly, he wouldn't be able to question Loki about the Tesseract or his accomplices.

"Thor, if your goal is the same as ours, there's no need for us to fight."

Hawkeye broke the tension. "We can work together."

Thor narrowed his eyes at the suggestion.

A moment passed.

With countless eyes watching, the group finally entered the transport plane, escorting Loki to S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters.

Whoosh!

The aircraft took off from Times Square.

Meanwhile, the onlookers remained stunned. They had just witnessed an unbelievable battle—only for it to end in an unexpected truce.

"Weren't they still fighting? Why did they suddenly stop?"

"Who was that guy with the hammer?"

"And what about that man who looked like Victor Doom, then turned into someone else with a horned helmet and a medieval robe?"

Confused spectators exchanged glances.

"Oh, come on!"

George Stacy finally arrived with the NYPD, just in time to see the transport plane disappearing into the sky.

He surveyed the scene—craters in the ground, destroyed billboards, and the chaos left in Times Square.

He sighed. "Great. Do I have to bill S.H.I.E.L.D. for this?"

The aftermath spread quickly online.

[Avengers 2.0 Fully Deployed!]

[Victor Doom—A Traitor?]

[Who Is the Man with the Hammer?]

Hashtags related to the battle dominated trending searches. The public demanded answers.

With the Avengers' actions exposed, S.H.I.E.L.D. could no longer keep things under wraps. To control public perception, Maria Hill was forced to issue an official statement.

"S.H.I.E.L.D. was attacked by a terrorist faction. Both Director Nick Fury and Deputy Director Phil Coulson were seriously injured and are now hospitalized. We are actively pursuing the mastermind behind this attack..."

But even with her carefully crafted words, the truth was now out.
