Chapter 15: REGASUS CHAPTER 15
He warned watching the maid clean up the mess quietly like it was a human head, made him wonder what horrors they must be seeing in this place everyday.
"Understood, plus you just smoothly rejected the first prince's offer, not in the best of moods. He'll try to piss you off." Augustus whispered and Regasus nodded in agreement.
"Yes he'll try other way to make me oblige, whether with persuasion or by force I fear."
The doors to the main palace opened and on que Laifeyar Halo Roveriasazar the empress walked in along with Alivara the concubine of the king.
Their beauty was of course the robe of the emperor as none could compare.
It was the reason Regasus didn't bring his wife to the palace ever.
Emperor Vastus converted women a bit too much for one's taste. He couldn't forget the neat war he'd almost caused when he wanted to take weria as his third wife but he had sworn by dragons blood that he wouldn't let him.
There are rumors of his vicious wives killing any woman who was more beautiful than they were or a threat to their beauty in the kingdom.
Some of those rumors involved that they intentionally killed off his daughters, he didn't want to believe or indulge in the whispers of men but sometimes he had his doubts.
"Lord Regasus." Laifeyar was dressed in gold from the crown of her head to the soul of her feet.
The veil covered her hair and another half of her face yet her beauty was too great for one not to notice.
Her skin was the finest pale Ivory and her eyes the brightest morning sky.
A glimpse of fine golden hair peeked from the veil, they were once acquainted and he knew how remarkable a beauty she was behind her veil.
He took her hand and kissed it with respect "Empress, it's been awhile."
"Since you abandoned me or since you married my best friend?" her voice was venomous still thick with envy.
Regasus sighed "Let's not go down this path , your grace."
"What path? the one were you were willing to go to war for her but not for me? Or the one were you promise you would come back for me but married her?" the loathing could not even be concealed in her laughter.
Regasus spoke thoughtfully not to offend her "Well, you were already bethroded to the emperor your highness, even if I did admire you I could not have you."
His words still stung her heart like pins, she scoffed "How is Weria by the way?"
He stiffened as she spoke her name in a voice that was indeed poisonous as it were deadly. He didn't reply her.
She still spoke regardless "I heard her daughters are a sight to behold, I would love to see them someday."
His hand balled into a fist, he had no intention of ever letting this cruel woman set her jealous sights on his daughters but he forced a smile "Of course your grace."
