Everything was unfolding as Sol had expected. After the dark period came to an end, a phase of calm development began until the start of the plot.
This period was destined to be dull, but Sol didn't feel lonely. His life—where he simply had to reach for food and let others dress him—was far from boring, especially with so many people around.
It was at least far better than being in heaven, and there was certainly more entertainment to enjoy.
Just wait a few years, he thought. After all, he had already waited for centuries; what was a few more years?
Occasionally, he would visit Valoran to monitor the progress of his parallel consciousness there. It was like visiting a new house still under renovation—watching it take shape brought him a quiet sense of satisfaction.
Soon, he might even be able to bring his family's children directly to Valoran. Once the city was more prosperous, they could even forgo the dungeon and have the children train directly in Valoran.
In his own world, powerful monsters could never be born!
Valoran, however, was not under his direct control.
At the same time, a human trafficker disguised as a powerful figure had sneaked into Orario.
Though the dark faction that had once openly operated in the city had been thoroughly defeated by the guild, darkness itself could never be entirely wiped out.
Behind every light, there would always be shadows.
Fortunately, Orario now had several responsible and righteous families who had driven the darkness into the unseen corners, far from the eyes of ordinary people.
At the entrance of the guild, two women emerged leisurely, holding the exchanged Valis in their hands. They were the focus of many admiring gazes from the men nearby.
This was a temporary team formed by Irelia and Ahri.
Though they had not been summoned long ago, both had recently reached LV2.
The main reason was that Irelia had been diligent, and her close companion, Ahri, had been forced to keep up.
It was much like befriending a high-achiever at school and being dragged along to study.
The team was still a bit small, and they were considering adding Akali to their ranks to help explore deeper areas.
As they walked through the most prosperous food street in Orario, their hands gradually filled with various treats.
"I work so hard to earn money every day, so I might as well spend it quickly!" Ahri said with a laugh.
"This…"
"Um?" Irelia asked, noticing a change in Ahri's demeanor.
"What's wrong, Ari?" Irelia asked, following her gaze.
Ahri had paused, her attention fixed on a dark alley ahead. It was impossible to see clearly from a distance, and it had once been a notorious hideout for the dark factions. Even now, most people would avoid such places.
It was as though life itself instinctively rejected darkness.
"I think I saw something. Wait here, I'll check it out."
"Eh? Wait for me, I'll go with you!" Irelia quickly grabbed Ahri and ran after her.
It wouldn't be wise to let Ahri go alone. After all, with her beauty and charm, she could easily attract unwanted attention from men.
The two women rushed into the dark alley, with Ahri leading the way. As they ventured deeper, the sensation of being drawn to something became more intense for Ahri.
Eventually, a faint light appeared in front of them, standing out against the darkness.
Ahri carefully crept closer to the door. It was a wooden door, with no soundproofing at all.
"We've got the goods! Let's head to Happy Street tonight! I've been holding back for so long!"
"What the hell, you're gonna spend the money right away?"
"It doesn't matter, these ones are high-quality. We'll make a lot of profit!"
The disgusting conversation from inside the room made Ahri lose all interest in listening further.
Irelia, who was behind her, used a small sharp blade to carefully open a few gaps in the door, allowing them to see inside.
Sure enough, these were the filthy criminals who lived in the shadows of the city.
Ahri followed her instincts and quickly noticed a yellow-haired fox curled up in the corner.
She appeared young, dressed like a wealthy girl, trembling in fear.
Where had this girl been kidnapped from?
According to Riveria, fox girls were incredibly rare in this world, mostly found in the Far East.
There was no way such a young child could have traveled here on her own—this situation seemed all too clear.
As Ahri calculated the best moment to act, Irelia kicked open the door with a forceful motion before Ahri could make a move.
The traffickers inside were stunned by the sudden intrusion, only to see a heroic woman standing before them, dozens of blades gleaming ominously in the dim light.
"Hey... wait for me, Irelia!" Ahri called out as she rushed forward, realizing that Irelia had acted recklessly.
She had planned to charm one of the traffickers and deal with them slowly, but that option was now out of the question.
"Another foxman?" one of the traffickers gasped in disbelief.
"Impossible, is it from the Sol Familia?" another wondered.
Thanks to recent developments, even Riveria had kept a low profile. However, the energetic newcomers had caused quite a stir in Orario, exposing the Sol family to the eyes of many other families.
These adventurers, regularly seen exploring the dungeon, were hard to miss. Each of them possessed special skills, making them stand out as extraordinary.
Ahri, however, was different. Her strength was formidable, but it wasn't her strength alone that caught people's attention.
There were few foxes in Orario, and Ahri's charm made her famous—perhaps even more so than many seasoned adventurers.
This was not the first time these traffickers had come to Orario, and they were aware of the Sol family's reputation.
Though only two women stood before them now, the traffickers had no intention of fighting. They only thought of escaping.
However, Ahri stayed close to Irelia, subtly blocking their escape route.
The commotion at the door drew the attention of the young girl inside. She cautiously lifted her head, her eyes wide with curiosity as she observed the scene.
When her gaze fell on Ahri, her eyes went straight to the fluffy white tail swishing behind her.
Such a beautiful creature… and with nine tails!
Perhaps she might be able to escape this nightmare after all!
